Air Mauritius Delayed Flights
You’re headed to a sunny vacation resort, and then, you have a flight delay. Yes, it’s a huge inconvenience to be sure, but you can rely on your air passenger rights to soften the blow.
If you’re delayed for 2 hours or more, you’re entitled to care and assistance, meaning you will be able to receive free food and refreshments as well as access to communication.
For delays of at least 3 hours past your scheduled arrival time, Air Mauritius must compensate you financially for your trouble, but this will only happen when they are to blame for the delay.
If your flight is delayed by 5 or more hours, you must be given the choice of a refund or a rescheduled flight plus cash compensation when the carrier is at fault.

Canceled Flights
Canceled flights are less common than flight delays, but they make up for it with added inconvenience. They can lead to a cascade of problems, but fortunately, EU and UK regulations will allow you some compensation for your trouble.
Cancellation of 14-days or more before departure: You will be entitled to a rebooked flight at no extra charge or a refund.
Cancellation with less than14-days notice: Air Mauritius must supply you with:
- Rescheduled flight or
- Cash refund
- Care and assistance (for delays at the airport that last 2 hours or more)
- Overnight hotel accommodation and transport for delays that require you to wait until the next day
- Cash compensation if the disruptions was not due to extraordinary events
Air Mauritius Involuntary Denied Boarding
As with all airlines, Air Mauritius will occasionally sell more tickets than seats available on the plane in order to ensure a fully booked flight. Known as overbooking, this situation can lead to some passengers who check in late or have no status as a frequent flyer, to face involuntary denied boarding. If this happens to you, the carrier is required to give you:
- A replacement flight or
- A refund and
- Cash compensation
However, if you were refused boarding because of behaviour unruly or because you arrived at the gate without the proper documents, then you will not be eligible for cash compensation.

Missed Connections
