Steps to File a Royal Air Maroc Flight Delay Compensation Claim

To handle everything on your own, follow these steps for delays and short-notice cancellations preventable by the airline for flights from the EU and the UK:

1. For Royal Air Maroc claims, you have the option to call or file online. Decide which process suits you better, although the online form is recommended.
2. Initiate the claim by calling customer service at 1-800-344-6726 or navigate to the Contact Us section of the website and click on Make a Claim or Complaint. There is also a bunch of Royal Air Maroc information in the Help section to peruse.
3. Note that there is no specific online form for Royal Air Maroc delayed flight compensation or cancellations, so choose Customer Service Complaint or Refund Request, depending on the circumstance.
4. Provide your details to the agent or in the form, explain the situation, and reference your air passenger rights to back up the resolution you expect. Check your flight on our calculator for the exact amount.
5. Continue following up until the Royal Air Maroc claim is resolved to your satisfaction. If you don’t get what you deserve, escalate within the airline or file a complaint with the relevant body, like the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) or the US Department of Transportation (DOT) for flight cancellations made by you within 24 hours.

Royal Air Maroc Delays – Compensation Amounts & Guidelines 

For a significant delay of 3 hours or more where passengers are departing from either the UK or the EU, Royal Air Maroc delay compensation is possible, under regulations UK261 and EU261, respectively. The maximum amount you can claim will depend on the overall flight distance and sometimes the length of the delay: 

• Flights under 1,500km (930 miles); 3+ hour delay: $270 (£220/€250).
  Example: Madrid to Marrakech
• Flights between 1,500km (930 miles) and 3,500km (2,175 miles); 3+ hour delay: $430 (£340/€400).
  Example: London to Casablanca
• Flights over 3,500km (2,175 miles); 3-4 hour delay: $325 (£260/€300).
  Currently, RAM does not operate compensation-eligible flights from the EU/UK that cover this distance. Non-eligible example: Miami to Casablanca.
• Flights over 3,500km (2,175 miles); 4+ hour delay $650 (£520/€600).

The Right to Care

Aside from actual cash, passengers on the same flights have the right to assistance as per regulations UK261 and EU261, once the delay threshold exceeds 2 hours. These include:

• Food and drinks
• Access to communication
• Hotel accommodation for overnight delays
• Ground transportation to the hotel and back to the airport

How to Navigate Royal Air Maroc Cancellations

Aside from being eligible for a payout, there are added steps to take when your flight is canceled by the airline, especially when done so on short notice:

1. Continue on. Although disruptive, book another flight ASAP to preserve your travel. All your fellow passengers will also be affected, and with limited alternate options, speed is of the essence.
2. If no alternative flight is acceptable to you, request a full Royal Air Maroc refund.
3. Confirm the cancellation reason with the airline.
4. If you’re continuing travel, request items like refreshments and accommodations.
5. For flights canceled with fewer than 14 days' notice, get Royal Air Maroc compensation for canceled flights. Check your eligibility with our calculator and file the claim as soon as you can.

In a recent example, in February 2025, Royal Air Maroc had to proactively cancel 4 flights, AT830, AT831, AT636, and AT637, due to an impending country-wide strike in Belgium planned for March 31. Because the airline offered sufficient notice and the cancellations were required due to circumstances beyond RAM’s control, a Royal Air Maroc compensation claim would not be possible. In a statement on social media, the airline said:

We offer several solutions to our valued customers affected by these cancellations. Customers can call to take advantage of the arrangements.

Royal Air Maroc Compensation for Cancellations

At-fault cancellations where passengers are notified fewer than 14 days in advance of the scheduled departure can also be eligible for compensation under the same regulations.

Recent Royal Air Maroc Delays and Cancellations

Now, let’s get an idea of just how common a RAM interruption is and the associated UK/EU Royal Air Maroc compensation, up to $650, or €600. 

Note that of the flights listed below, the route from Miami to Casablanca is the most delayed, 82% of the time. The route from Brussels to Rabat was the most canceled, 12% of the time, according to Cirium’s FlightStats from January 15 to March 15, 2025.

The Royal Air Maroc Cancellation Policy – How Easy is it to Get Reimbursement?

Flights to or from the US have a 24-hour free cancellation period when booked at least 7 days (168 hours) in advance, which is mandated by the US DOT. Aside from that, the Royal Air Maroc refund policy is specific to fare types.

Royal Air Maroc Missed Connections

Missed connections are also eligible for the same care and assistance under regulations UK261 and EU261 for flights leaving either region. And, when the missed connection results in significant delays, you may also receive Royal Air Maroc compensation.

Sometimes Royal Air Maroc Compensation Isn’t Possible…

The main reason an airline can escape paying out passengers is due to something called an extraordinary circumstance. In general, these are interruption causes that are totally outside their control, and therefore, not preventable. Examples include:

• Strikes by Air Traffic Control or other non-airline staff
• Security or political threats.
• Bad weather that renders the safe operation of the UK or EU flight impossible.

Luckily, though, there’s a Royal Air Maroc compensation flip side. When the airline could have reasonably prevented the delay or cancellation, passengers are likely eligible to claim up to $650. Examples of this are scheduling errors/conflicts, RAM staff strikes, and aircraft issues caused by failure to conduct routine maintenance.
