Iberia Compensation Claim for Delayed or Cancelled Flight

We had to catch a train instead, I want to reclaim the price of the train ticket (£234.90)

August 20, 2023 6AM Airline provided no assistance. Both passengers forced to purchase tickets for return flight in addition to tickets already purchased. Passengers forced to pay for lodging, meals, etc. Passengers has in possession a pre-paid ticket Was denied boarding because travel agent issued ticket with an extra city on it that the passenger had no intent to fly into. Passenger did NOT request this city nor desire to travel to the extra city but agent insisted adding it to the itinerary.

I received the info about the cancellation of IB 8950 on June 16 7 2022 ,for technical reasons, when at MXP Lounge via the Iberia Conecta system, evidence available. The flight was scheduled to land in Malaga at 21.30. I have been rescheduled on IB3866 leaving Madrid at 07.30 next morning. Downgrade from C to Y Provided hotel extremely far from Apt, food service extremely poor (I decided to go to a restaurant). The bus back to the Apt was before 05 am. I wrote o Iberia via their site asking a refund for both delay & dowgrade, and the reply was negative, mail available.

Our flight from BCN left at 8.40 Am instead of 7.15 Am Therefore I missed the connection to the Flight to NY . The ground staff spent 3 hours to try to find an alternative flight but they had to deal with iberia and American Airlines who were co partners on the flight

Flight had mechanical problem, pilot said was fixed 90 minutes later we departed. Hour into flight over Atlantic Ocean pilot says issue not fixed and turned around for emergency landing in Boston, departure city. No one from airline helped to rebook. We had to rebook on different airline on our own and lost money on hotel and ground transportation because of the very long delay to arrive at destination. We departed originally on Monday 6/26 but due to cancelled flight we arrived at final destination on Thursday 6/29. We lost two nights hotel, cheaper ground transportation and increased cost due to extra meals and costs incurred for 15 hour layover in Rome on new flight. The airline never helped despite attempts to rebook and when we landed on emergency back in Boston no personnel were available but a single person and she could not handle any requests from passengers. We missed sightseeing events as well as gymnastics training for a competition that my daughter was competing in. Our coach was also unable to join because of the huge cost to rebook the flight.

Our flight to Madrid was stalled between 3-4 hours due to mechanical issue. As soon as our plane landed in madrid, the plane to Jerez already left and customer service gave us a flight the following day.

After Delaying the flight several times, they made us get off the plane due to something being wrong with the plane. They told use a part or something was being brought to the plane. Then they canceled the flight more then 2 hrs later. I was supposed to Leave at 8:50 from JFK NYC to MAD Spain, then from MAD to TLV Israel, and now instead of leaving Monday and arriving at my final destination on Tuesday, they are saying my flight is Tuesday, and I arrive at Spain MAD at 8:25 am but wont be leaving from Spain MAD to Israel TLV until 5pm WEDNESDAY night. This is REDICULOUS! I have already spent my money on my hotel and wont be getting that back. My tickets cost $6,120.35 and that is not even including my stay.

Plane took over hour on runway to take off so we missed connecting flight

We were suppose to take off from JFK at 20:50. We did not take off until after 22:10

Further delays influence of other flights and poor re-bookings. Original arrival at MCI should have been Dec 30, 2022 9:34 pm. Actual arrival at MCI January 2, 1:00 am. Spent $610.33 in NYC on New Year's eve on hotel at JFK. Iberia was closed and didn't answer phone after stranding us there. We were able to find on Iberia employee at JFK airport who was rude and said we were not their problem. Fortunately, Jet Blue was gracious enough to rebook their let of tickets but they only have one flight a day. Airline did provide hotel and meals in Madrid night of Dec 30, 2022. We also had to pay for meals in New York city. We also had to pay for pick up at MCI airport to home of $80 because no one would pick us up at 2am in the morning and we do not expect that of friends or family. I was too exhausted to work the next day. We are ages 63 and 68. 3-4 day of airport travel was absolutely exhausting. I have traveled extensively on a variety of airlines and never had such an awful experience returning from Europe.

Flight was delayed and I feel that because of this, our luggage was lost.

I had to take a flight next day and I missed my internal flight in Brazil. I had to pay a hotel. and take a next day flight to Aracaju

I arrived to the airport 2 hours before departure. At check in counter, they checked my luggage as normal. At the gate, there was no boarding agent 30 minutes prior departure. A gate agent finally showed up 15 minutes before departure. Then the gate agent gathered all the Mallorca passengers and informed us there is no plane coming. We must exit the gate area and go back to check in. They required us to pick up our checked luggage on the way out. They had us all queue at the check in desk at air europa, saying they will rebook us onto a flight air europa will take us. 1 hour later, they made us move to the Iberia desk and said Air Europa is no longer flying us. Whilst at the Iberia desk, there were no Iberia agents. It was airport staff helping us. The agents mainly spoke in Spanish and that was quite a challenge as they did not speak English. Luckily, another passenger in queue spoke both Spanish and English and translated for us. We stood in the queue for 4 hours because no Iberia help. We were given forms to fill out to get reimbursement for our flight and told us that there is no explanation why they were canceled. Then we were finally updated that a plane were to arrive at 2230 that night to fly us to PMI and arrive by 2345. We checked in again and luggage and went through security and then waited for our flight to arrive at 2230. A long annoying day where nobody - including the airport staff, where they were not informed, could not tell us passengers why it was canceled or why no airplane. It was the worst experience Iberia could have delivered as they had no representation.

On September 17, 2022, my son Alex had a flight back to the United States from Coruña with a connection in Madrid to return to his country (USA); the flight was purchased from American Airlines (AA8569 and AA 8835). This young American citizen with special needs forgot his passport on the plane; Iberia employees did not help him pick him up, they told him that they did not speak English and forced him to file a complaint for a passport that was not lost, as a result he lost his connecting flight, they forced him to pay a supplement to give him a new ticket which was later returned and they refused to speak to him in English, which is the language he knows. As a consequence, he got lost at the Barajas airport. Carmen, a customer service employee, hung up the phone on the family that was calling from the US asking for help, the next day after going through a desperate situation; An Iberia employee who refused to pick up my son's phone and speak to me in Spanish agreed to do so and was able to hand him over to a security guard, finally putting him on a flight to the US. American Airlines did not want to take responsibility in the matter arguing that Iberia was responsible, but the ticket had been purchased from them and AA used Iberia for the flight without giving us a choice, when the ticket is purchased in the option for "passenger with special needs". We asked Iberia for help before the trip and the agent asked me what was autism and age; She told me that they did not have help for adults with his condition and that when he arrived he should go to the Iberia desk and ask for help in English, which turned out to be false; on the Iberia page there is no choice and the link to fill out the application requesting help leads to a "bad gateway" My son was in serious danger and received no help from any of the airlines involved in the incident, which, due to the family's claims, have not taken any action to alleviate the consequences or compensate this passenger. This is undoubtedly a flagrant violation of the federal ADA laws that Iberia operating in the USA is obliged to comply with; AA has also violated the law by allowing and not supervising that the airlines they use comply with the laws in force in my country. I hope that the strongest measures are taken against these violations that literally endanger the lives of passengers in the same condition as my son.

From the beginning, I flew with my two sons 15 years old and 12 years old and my mother 73 years old from Bucharest to Madrid. An Nice (France) we had one stop. At the time when we waited for the announcement about the exact gate, they were telling us that the flight was cancelled. From that moment, we could not find a person to advice us, to manage with the other details (hotel to sleep, food, get another reservation). The agency (Lucky2go) where we bought the tickets did not answer to any e-mails. I tried from 6pm until 10pm to find a solution, to find assistance from the agency or Iberia. I did not find any phone number from the agency , so I sent a lot of e-mails to them and hope that finally they will answer. In the airport wos nobody from Iberia Company and every nobody answer to the phone number I called. I understood that weather was the problem and there were not other possibilities to fly that night, but we were 4 of us with no assistance, far away from home without knowing the language and the city. Finally, some people from Avia Department directed us to sleep on a hotel (even they were not payed to help us). Next day we came again at the airport when I knew there will be another flight to Madrid. I pressed the lady from the check in to help us and finally she gave me a call number of Iberia. The lady from call center reserved for us another flight for 7 the next day (it was for 7am, but I did not understand). She said she could not give me the details because the agency is the intermediator. So, I waited for the details, trying to calm myself and the members of the family with the hope that everything will go in the right direction. My mother was not feeling well after so many hours in the airport. We paid another night to another hotel and spend our money on food. They sent me at 1:43am that cannot access my old flight details (the cancellated flight) because I, myself, contacted the Iberia Company. The agency Lucky2go recommended me to keep the contact with Iberia. At 7am I called Iberia again. They said that we have just lost the flight and we need to pay for another one. I explained that it was not my fault, my problem, if they do not communicate well with the agency and we need to go from Nice to Madrid. Without flight details nobody would talk with us at the airport. I accepted to pay if needed for another reservation and I said I will be asking for emotional compensations. So, the next reservation was made at 7 pm that day - 1th of October (after 48 hours than the cancelled flight). We did not pay for the last reservation. Everything was going very well after that. So, the only care the Iberia Airline did, it was the reservation of the flight. I and my family want to get compensations for one night of the hotel (4 people), food, and emotional distress. Thank you!

Madrid incoming flight was delayed. Gate change Announcement at boarding that Toilet inflight is broken. Used the toilet after advising with gate staff due to the broken one. When returned gate was closed, leaving approx 20 passengers including myself behind.

I found out that might ticket was canceled only when I did an online check-in before the flight. I havent received any notifications about that beforehand. It was a total surprise to me.

Upon arriving at Barcelona Airport from JFK New York, we were informed our flight to Venice had left early and that we would need to have Iberia customer service find another flight for us. We arrived in Venice around 11 pm, about 8 hours after we were initially supposed to arrive. The airline customer service in Barcelona took around 6 hours to find us a new flight, and guaranteed my checked luggage would be waiting in Venice. Upon arrival in Venice, my luggage was not there and was not located by the airline until 5 days later. I had to miss a wedding because I had no appropriate clothing to wear. Although the airline found my luggage, they delivered it to the wrong address. I still have not received my luggage as of today, October 11th.

Downgrade from business class to economy due to oversold cabin.

I was scheduled to fly from Barcelona to Dallas via Madrid on the 5th of October arriving the night of my mothers birthday. Instead the flight from Barcelona to Madrid was delayed by 45 mins which caused me to miss the connecting flight to Dallas. I was put up at a hotel, and flew to Dallas the next day via Chicago where I missed my final connecting flight due to delays at the airport, and finally arrived to Dallas over 24 hours after my original arrival time.

I was offered a flight 2 days later but at 7 am instead of 19:40 pm as planned before....after calling Iberia finally they replaced my cancelled flight wit a flight at 19:40 but 3 days later.

Arrived at final destination 35 hrs later than original arrival. Airline staff at the boarding gate told us flight full. Waited 6hrs at airport waiting for alternative, which wasn't till the following day 6pm, Was given a breakfast voucher for 3euro and put up for 1 night at hotel. Big inconvenience as traveling with young family.

delay of the first flight to Madrid which caused the loss of the second flight from Madrid to Fuerteventura. Arrival in Madrid afternoon, very long wait for a HOtel where we arrived at 22h/23h PM.

This was part of a larger kiwi booking we did, The airline canceld our flight feom casablanca to malaga and insted gave us a flight from casablanca to malaga with a connection in madrid. The delay was of 10 hours. The air line nor kiwi provide any help with the situatiin and our private trip being interfeered. By the way we are on ojr honeymoon. In order not to dleay our trip so mich we rented a car in madrid insted of malaga with a 120 dolar fee of returning the flight in a diffarent destanation.

Entire flight was canceled due to connecting flight being terminated by british airways.

We missed a tour of Sevilla that cost $200 and Vueling lost our luggage. We arrived around 8 pm. We were told at check-in that it was overbooked. We got food vouchers for a couple of restaurants.

My wife and I purchased tickets through American Airlines for a flight that was operated by Iberia Airlines. We departed on Iberia Airlines, Flight # IB 6252 from NY (JFK) to Madrid (MAD). The flight was originally scheduled to leave on June 22 at 9:00pm and arrive at 10:20am; however, the flight was delayed and left at 9:19am, arriving at 10:58pm (38minutes late). My connecting flight, Flight # IB3950, bought on a single ticket and also served by Iberia Airlines, was originally ticketed to depart from Madrid (MAD) at 11:40am and arrive in Sevilla (SVQ) at 12:45pm. However, this was changed to instead depart at 11:25am (15min earlier). I was not notified of this change until checking in and receiving my boarding pass. Because of the initial delay and the moving forward of the flight, I missed my connecting flight in Madrid. We were not rebooked on a flight until much later on with Flight # IB 3948, which was scheduled to depart from Madrid (MAD) at 8:00pm and arrived in Sevilla (SVQ) at 9:05pm. This flight was also late, departing at 8:26pm and arriving at 9:32pm (an additional 27 minutes late). This resulted in a total overall delay of 7hours and 47minutes from what was initially scheduled.

they didn't let me know about the cancellation I had to get another ticket which cost me almost 500 euros The fly was cancelled , and the company didn't inform me. And i was obligated to book a ticket which coasted me almost 860€

I arrived the next day 8am at my final destination (Hong Kong), compared with original flight at 2pm the previous day. The airlines provided with food, hotel and transportation to the hotel. All passengers had to wait for 1.5 hours inside the flight although everyone got on board as we were waiting for 4 more late customers to get on the flight. We complained about the delay to the cabin crew but even the captain said that there will be no problem to our connecting flight as the next flight will increase the connection time, which did NOT actually happen. We ran as soon as we arrived at the Madrid airport and we arrived at the boarding gate when the final customers were getting on board to the flight from Madrid to Doha, but the airlines staff did not allow us to get on the flight. We even said our luggage can arrive later but we need to get to destination on time but they still didn’t allow. We heard that the reason for the flight delay was waiting for 4 other customers to get on board, but the airlines did not provide exact reason to us. This has caused me severe financial damage as I was not able to go to work the next day and had to change my quarantine hotel in Hong Kong (government requirement).
