My spouse and I were on DL0097 on May 3, 2022. She is disabled (can walk with assistance and needs a wheelchair at airports). The extended delay was physically difficult for her, particularly in her back. We arrived at DTW and deplaned five hours after our scheduled 1300h arrival. The Delta representatives told us that the initial delay was for 1.5 hours, then that was extended. It was only after all passengers were on board, prior to taxiing, that everyone was informed (by the purser?) that no luggage was loaded on the plane because there had been a cargo latch issue. We were told that while a repair had been made that the EU regulations differed from the FAA regulations and that it was "paperwork" that had delayed the flight. We left CDG without luggage. We were informed, while on board, that the luggage would be sent to our final destinations either that evening or the following day, May 4, 2022. Our luggage arrived at our home in East Lansing, Mich. literally 48 hours later. We were anxious as I was scheduled to receive my PhD at a Michigan State University commencement the following day and some of the clothes I planned to wear were in the luggage. It was a clear inconvenience - not only the anxiety, but now receiving any information about scheduled luggage drop off. I tried multiple times to access the Delta delayed luggage website to no avail. Also, the customer service email was not answered for two days. I have documentation of both.
