Due to this denied boarding issue happened in Rome on 8th August, I missed my connecting flight to Aberdeen in London the same day. After that issue, a series of consequences concerning the additional cost to me included one-night accommodation (hotel) in London, the taxi cost from Gatwick Airport to Heathrow Airport to catch the early flight, and another flight ticket from London Heathrow Airport to Aberdeen. -------------- I booked a flight ticket for Rome Fiumicino to London Gatwick Airport through an airline agency of EasyJet, with an estimated departure time of 13:35 on 8 Aug 2023. On 8 Aug 2023, I arrived 2 hours early before the department at Rome Fiumicino airport and tried to get my boarding pass at the check-in counter of Easyjet, and was informed by the staff that my seat status was marked as "SAG" which means that there is no designated seat for me because the tickets were overbooked, I need to wait at the boarding gate to see whether or not there is anyone cancelled his/ her trip. Before that time, I have never been informed that that flight was overbooked and that I may not be able to seat on the flight. I bought with the same airline for the same day from London Gatwick to Aberdeen, as my connecting flight. What happen on 8 August is that they denied my boarding with the reason that their airline have been overbooked and there was no one cancelled their trip, so they tried to arrange for me to take the next flight with an estimated departure time of 21:45 the same day, but the problem was that I would miss my next flight from London to Aberdeen which was estimated to take off at 21:45 the same time as their arranged next flight for me from Rome Fiumicino to London Gatwick Airport. What was worse was that the next flight they arranged was delayed for one hour, then I arrived in London the next morning ( 9 August 2023) around 1:00 am, and then I had to find a hotel near London Gatwick Airport ( since it is too late to travel to the centre of London) to stay and book a new flight for London to Aberdeen. Then the earliest flight from London to Aberdeen was only available with British Airlines at London Heathrow Airport, London Gatwick Airport and London Heathrow Airport were far away from each other. So I needed to take a taxi to go to London Heathrow Airport. Except for the additional cost caused by the denied boarding due to overbooking of the airline, this issue also delayed my very important meeting in Aberdeen, UK, the consequences can't be evaluated as of now.
