On the morning of travel 30th of May 2022, we found out our flight LX345 scheduled for 6:00am, confirmation number - Q8OVAX was cancelled; we found out at 3:00am on our way to the airport when we were trying to check in online. We called Swiss Airline on arrival at Heathrow as there was no one to help and they rebooked us on flight UA123 scheduled for 7:45am, confirmation number - DCJKPF. We needed to fly out the same day booking as we had a wedding to attend on the 1st of June and a Hotel booked as of the afternoon of the 30th of May - so they rebooked us on the United Airlines flight. This flight was then delayed by over 3 hours and departed at 11:15am; resulting in us missing our connection flight UA1519 scheduled for 12:31pm from Washington IAD to Montego Bay. Also losing a paid for 1st night at the hotel Hyatt Ziva Resort, Montego Bay. We then spent a night in Washington Dulles and continue to Montego Bay on the 31st of May which had us spending money on food and transport. We incurred additional costs because of this cancellation then delay we were greatly inconvenienced. United Airlines booked us in for that night at Hilton Hotel, Washington and gave us food vouchers for $60.00 to share between the 3 of us, which was not enough to get us lunch, dinner and breakfast the morning of the 31st of May. We had to book an uber to go eat and return as food at Hilton Hotel was too expensive, we were only able to get 1 portion of 6 wings and sweet potato fries and 3 drinks with the 3x $20.00 vouchers. We can provide the receipts for the 2 Ubers and food out totalling $102.47 ($16.96+$70.54+$14.97). In continuation on the 31st May, we were rebooked on American Airlines flight AA491 Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport to Miami and flight AA2096 Miami to Montego Bay. Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport was 35 mins away so we had to travel by taxi costing us $77.14. At luggage check-in our luggage was not included when the flight was changed and we were charged $60.00 for our 2 bags (at $30 each). We arrived in Montego Bay at 1700hrs on the 31st of May instead of the initial 2140hrs on the 30th of May via Swiss International.
I found on the united airline website that the flight was delayed due to staff scheduling issues. This cost us one night of our holiday as our new flights landed over 15 hours later than our original ones and included an additional 9 hours of travel.
