Terrifying flight from Santa Rosa to Orange County

I flew Alaska Airlines from Santa Rosa (STS) to Orange County (SNA) on October 28, 2026, and it was one of the worst flying experiences of my life. The turbulence was severe from takeoff to landing, with no calm stretch at any point. The plane shook so violently that I genuinely feared we were going to crash. At times it felt like a roller coaster, only far worse, because it truly felt like we were falling toward the Earth. Based on this flight, I can’t recommend Alaska Airlines to anyone.

Flight delay

Up to 3 month to review a claim. I missed my connecting flight, and what should have been a four hour day turned into a 14 hour day resulting in back pain

Alaska Airlines Great Flight Attendant Richie

This review is to commend the compassion of Alaska Airlines attendant Richie who was on Flight 440 from Seattle to Cleveland on August 22-23, 2026. Our daughter had suffered fainting episodes in flight and he immediately took action to help her to prevent her from falling and hitting her head. He caught her mid-fall and assisted to her a seat, then offered her orange juice and a snack. He watched over her and quickly got us, her parents. Our daughter has POTS and hadn't had such a spell in many years. Fortunately, our daughter recovered without further incident. Richie's superb, quick action deserves more than a mention and a kind word. We hope his service is rewarded and thank him again! I recommend Alaska Airlines for a great flight and great flight attendants!

INABILITY TO EVEN DISCUSS CUSTOMER SERVICE. SOUTHWEST AS AN ALTERNATIVE IS SUPER EASY TO WORK WITH AS MANY OTHERS. I WAS CALLING TO CANCEL MY FLIGHT....NO GO. I JUST LOST MONEY BECAUSE I TRIED THEM OUT.

MY PLANS CHANGED THAT REQUIRED CHANGING OR CANCELING MY RESERVATION. NOT A CHANCE THAT THEY WOULD EVER ANSWER THE PHONE AND THE WEBSITE WAS AN ESCAPE ROOM.

Overall

  • close WHERE ARE THEY????
  • closecheck IT WAS A SMALL ONE WAY TICKET I COULD AFFORD TO BLOW OFF.

Flight delay

Bastards stranded me, leaving me no choice but to fly back to the closest airport to home, and figure out the last leg on my own.

My first flight with Alaska Airline...

My first flight with Alaska Airlines was a great disappointment. Upon leaving Seattle we were warned that our flight may be rerouted to Indianapolis instead of Chicago. Towards the end of the flight we were told we were landing in Indiana, over three hours from Chicago. As we sat on the plane and waited for instructions our flight crew timed out. We were then told the gate would give us direction. They did not, we were told we would be contacted by the airlines and we needed to find our own hotel and/or transportation. Having meetings the following morning I booked a Lyft for a two hour drive (there were no rental cars available) and was then picked up 1.5 hours outside of Chicago to reduce the cost of the Lyft. Alaska Air has not reimbursed me for my $224 Lyft. They did rebook me on a flight to Chicago the following day at noon, but I suspect they would not have reimbursed me for my transportation to a hotel or my hotel stay. My first experience with Alaska Air was appalling, and I would advise you to fly another airlines, I will.

They aren't what they used to be!!!!! Not even close!

I have been a rewards member since they started it. When I had my accounts combined, they only backdated my miles to 2005ish, which is decades after I actually joined. I used to love Alaska Airlines so much, until whichever greedy f:'ker took it over. Now, they grape Alaskans at every chance they get. It's cheaper for my son to travel all the way from Boston to Seattle, than it is for me to travel there from Alaska. They also use computer programs to rip you off at every chance they get too. If you check on ticket prices, make sure to use a different computer to actually buy the tickets, because it's hundreds of dollars cheaper, once they find out your IP address is wanting to travel. This last one is what has gotten me pissed off enough to post. They are not as good of an airline as they tout themselves to be. It's not even close anymore. I even once got a meal absolutely filled with mold. I don't order their food anymore, it's not worth the cost anyway. Screwdriver Alaska Airlines!
