Downgraded from business class to economy

I got downgraded from business class to economy because United sold more seats than they had. Can't they count? And they even found out only when I was already boarded and seated. How is this possible? The communication was also very unfriendly with a total lack of empathy. Maybe for the airline crew this is an ordinary procedure, but not for me. This needs an explanation of the procedure. I was asked to leave the plane, and then the door was closed behind me. I felt like they just wanted to trick me out of the plane with no resistance to arrest me. It was traumatic. No explanation as to why I need to leave the plane just to walk into economy class. The implementation of the downgrade was done by just deleting my checking. But this deleted all boarding passes for the whole trip in the app, including a subsequent connecting flight. It was a nightmare. And finally, they want to fob me off with useless vouchers as compensation instead of the legally required refund. United doesn't even meet the statutory minimum for passenger rights.

Overall

  • close Downgrade, i.e. denied boarding in my class, with rude and incompetent implementation
  • closecheck arrived on time

Global traveler. Worst travel experience I've ever had.

We were supposed to be headed to Italy today 🇮🇹 but Newark, our connecting flight, was cancelled due to a power outage. Airline automatically booked us on another flight through Chicago which is now delayed over 2 and a half hours so we will still miss our flight to Milan. The first flight was cancelled because of electrical issues but the second is delayed due to weather. We were just informed that we will not be recompensated for our ticket since it is weather related even though the reason is because we were automatically assigned that flight by United due to a non weather related cancellation. We must now book a hotel and a new flight on our dollar. Basically United Airlines pulled a fast one on us and made sure we were assigned to a flight that overrided our entitlement to compensation. We now wont get to Milan until two days from now, no compensation, and we will now miss our first few days of hotels. We were informed by 7 different workers for United that they are unable to help with any rebooking and that all rebooking must be done through their call center. I called the call center twice and was placed on hold for over an hour and 15 minutes both times, which was too long to be able to change any flights. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BOOK YOUR TRIP WITH United . They are BY FAR the worst customer service experience I've ever dealt with, with any company ever. I have traveled to over 50 countries and never fly United. Now I remember why. Just a complete shit show. I genuinely would consider spending 500 or more for a ticket on another airline just to avoid dealing with United Airlines. I hope this somehow affects their business even though I know it won't.. they could care less. They made that crystal clear.

Overall

  • close Terrible customer service. Multiple flights delayed over 3 hours

Flight delay

Customer Service Training needed for Gate Agents. Allow passengers to board when seats are available or on Standby. Find accommodation to passengers if flight missed and overnight stay is needed.

No Club with First-Class ticket

We paid a lot of money for First-Class only to find out that a first-class ticket holder cannot use the United Club at the airport unless it is an international flight. We flew from Hawaii to Denver 6-1/2 hour flight and could not use the club. You have to go digging for it to find that information out.

UNITED is the very best Airline

I am old enough to know better .Frequent traveler all around the world .I was traveling from Split-Croatia to Newark-NJ. The flight was smooth ,no delays and accommodations comfortable .The crew was outstanding .They treat you with warmth , kindness and respect. When humanity matters more then money ,United Airline restored our hope. Special thanks to Mr. Nicolas Motta .He was awesome .He handled my difficult situation with professionalism and genuine courtesy .Solved my problem. He is an asset to United Airline . They have the very best in flight entertainment out there ,with a wide selection of movies and shows with Bluetooth connectivity . The demeanor and behavior of the flight attendants created an atmosphere of welcomeness. If you needed anything they would've been more then happy to do it for you.I strongly recommend United Airline for your traveling needs. Victor G.

Flight cancellation

I am very disappointed with how my travel insurance claim has been handled. I submitted all required documents, including medical evidence confirming a broken arm and my inability to travel, as well as proof that the second passenger could not travel without my assistance. I responded promptly to every request for additional information. Despite this, my claim was denied with vague reasoning that did not properly address the evidence provided. It feels as though the claim was not fairly assessed in line with the policy I purchased in good faith. I request an urgent escalation to a senior claims specialist for a full review. Please also provide a detailed written explanation of the policy terms used to deny the claim and how my evidence was evaluated. If the decision is upheld, I ask for clear information on the formal appeal process and any further escalation options available.

We sat on the runway for three hour...

We sat on the runway for three hours at Heathrow when we finally left I missed my connection from Newark to New Orleans. I was supposed to arrive at 10.36 on Saturday and I arrived 11.30am Sunday. I also had to pay for the hotel in New Orleans and missed an important meeting and conference.
