I had booked my ticket back...

I had booked my ticket, direct flight from Athens, Greece to Chicago, Illinois - with a seat also booked specifically based on my preference. I had arrived at the airport due to traffic around but they denied me entrance stating I was late and I could not board, even though I had checked in and boarding hadn't started. They offered me two options in Athens: number one - take the next flight from Athens to London due to overbooking on my flight and stay in London overnight (12 hours), without them even arranging accomodation for me, option number 2 was to go the next day to the airport and be stand by until someone would miss their flight. I thought this was ridiculous as I needed to leave for the US urgently and nobody respected that!!!!!

The second flight on my itinerary...

The second flight on my itinerary (LHR-ORD) was delayed and I landed just a few minutes before my last flights. As it was obvious that I was not going to make it, American Airlines rebooked me automatically for a flight to ATL, my final destination, the next morning (flight 1826). I learned that when I arrived in Chicago in the evening, and I had to spend the night there (paid by the airline). If it was not enough, the flight to Atlanta the next morning was delayed and I arrived at 12:30pm on Friday, instead of the initial 10pm on Thursday night. That’s a 14h30 delay, and was a huge inconvenience since I was supposed to drive all day on Friday, a trip that I had to change at the last second.
