I have 2 complaints

1 . On the return flight back to the UK 14/03/25 you ran out of my preferred option of food when you were only half way through serving. I complained to the attendant who advised this happens frequently and I should complain. This is now the second time it has happened to me as the last flight I had with BA I had the same issue. 2. The snacks you serve are absolutely diabolical in particular the Monty's Bakehouse it was inedible on reading the ingredients I was amazed to read it contain chicken from Thailand - why!! This was binned by most people, in addition the cheese croissant wasn't much better. You will note from your records we are frequent flyers with BA, unfortunately the quality of food served seems to have gone downhill bigtime by comparison with Virgin who my friends now fly with.

Had booked a seat but did not get it

When I got to the airport and told them that my seat number was 23C I was told that I could not have it and was given a seat 40J. I explained to the operator that I needed an aisle seat as I have problems with a hip replacement but he was not interested. The reason I get seats when I book a flight is because of my hip replacement. Please bear in mind that this flight was booked way back in September 2024. Disappointed as none of the cabin staff even came to apologise even though I did mention it to them when I boarded the aircraft. To top it all I was given a middle seat not an aisle seat.

Problems at airport

The flight turned around mid-flight and landed in Washington, because Heathrow apparently got shut down. The crew did not have any information as we landed and we were left at Washington Dulles in the middle of the night on our own terms. British Airways sent a message that the flight will go to Heathrow (from Washington) on Saturday, 3AM, local time with check-in closing on Friday, 11.55PM, local time. They informed about that via Email on Friday, 6.07PM, local time. So there was a time window of less 6 hours to notice their email, and arrange to be at the airport on time. They also moved the flight to Munich to Sunday (instead of Friday) and arranged for a hotel in Heathrow. I would have reached (if I had managed to get the flight in Washington) 2 days later than planned. Since there was no communication on their end until the email mentioned above, I booked a different flight to get me to Munich in time.

Problems at airport

BAO190 flight arrived Heathrow airport at +- 1.30pm on 19 March. Prior to departure in Austin, Texas, we had to stand in queue at British Airways check in for 3 hours 40 minutes due to computer failure at British Airways, for which they apologized. They eventually processed handwritten requirements.

Left in jfk overnight on a hard floor. No seats, no communication from staff they avoided us. No compassion or empathy. Spent a day with no sleep on the floor, had to beg for a drinks voucher. Very demoralising. Did not reach Glasgow! Had to fly eventually jfk to Stockholm then to Edinburgh and get to Glasgow with a taxi for my car. Final destination Glasgow and BA did not get us there

Problems at airport

We boarded our flight on Thursday 20th of March for a 22:35 take off then we were advised shortly before take off time that due to an incident at Heathrow we were unable to take off at this time. We were updated every 30 mins then eventually asked to disembark from the aircraft around 2am. The staff in the airport said we would have to arrange a hotel/ transport for ourselves and the airline would reimburse us afterwards. No help was provided in finding anywhere that we would be able to check into at that time in the morning and we were told we would need to call around hotels to ask. Because of this and the fact we didn’t really have the money to book not knowing how long it would be for we ended up sleeping on the floor of jfk until we could get more details from ba. Bearing in mind other airlines bussed their passengers to a hotel they had arranged for them but ba said they couldn’t do this. No one checked on us or offered any advice and kept telling us there was nothing they could do. The staff working were quite rude and dismissive when we approached them showing no empathy or concern for all the passengers affected and told us that the staff due to start shift at 5:45 would be able to help us. When they eventually came to the desk at 6:20 all we were told was that there was nothing they could do for us and to contact the ba customer service number however We were unable to reach anyone on doing so. Around 7 am we were directed to a queue where the staff were trying to rearrange flights to other airports as they said we would possibly have to wait until Sunday or Monday for a flight to Heathrow- this was Friday morning. Not wanting to wait that long we managed to get onto another flight at 18:25 on Friday evening (almost 20 hours later than our original flight was due to take off) from Newark airport (again having to make our own way there at our own expense) to Stockholm then onto Edinburgh where we then had to make our way to Glasgow airport as that’s where my friends car was parked. We finally arrived in Glasgow at around 1pm on Saturday 22nd when we should have got there at 4:40 pm on Friday 21st. We eventually arrived home around 3:30/4pm on Saturday having been up and on the go since 7:30 am on Thursday with the only sleep being on the floor of jfk or the aircraft. Both of which were not ideal.

Problems at airport

Arrived 7pm 20/3/25 for 22.35 flight jfk to Heathrow (party of 4). Boarded the flight and sat on tarmac for 3 hours and told to get off. Flight cancelled and luggage given back. No communication from staff whatsoever, no help or advice. Phone battery died could not book taxis or hotels. Lay on a hard hard floor all night as no seats, no offer of drinks or snacks either. I personally suffered an accident 9 months ago and am recovering from 6 broken bones below the waist and this was a disgraceful way to treat people. I was in agony and didn’t sleep. Staff were abrupt with no empathy whatsoever. Around 9.30 the next day we were given an option of waiting in the airport or staying in a hotel until at least Sunday 23/3/25 (unable to fund this for 4 people) or we could re-route to Stockholm then Edinburgh then a taxi to Glasgow for my car. Original plan was jfk-Heathrow-Glasgow. We took the reroute option as everyone was exhausted and now unwell. So 24 hours later than we should have arrived home we got home (should have been 21/3/25 around 5pm and was 22/3/25 around 5pm. No communication,no care from staff, hundreds of pounds out of pocket and my daughter missed her shift at work Saturday resulting in loss of earnings of around Β£80 (€95.02) I can get proof of this from her employer but have included in my total. The other members of my party (Susan and Chloe will upload their expenses ) I would have felt better if the staff communicated and reassured us and tried to help in some way but we felt abandoned and lost on a city we did not know with no phone charge (no plugs in the check in area) hotels would not check in until 3pm. Other airlines had a fleet of cars waiting and their passengers were taken to hotels. BA staff informed us this was normal protocol but because there were so many we had to fend for ourselves, this is not good enough really bad bad customer service. Duty of care not provided in any way

Devolver pertenencias al pasajero sentado a mi lado

On February 25, 2025, I took a flight from St. Kitts to Gatwick. Upon arriving home I found in my bag some belongings from the person sitting next to me. There has been no way to get an email to respond to my messages so that I can return the passenger's belongings. I've only received messages about baggage claim. It seems that since BA no longer has an office in Barcelona, it is impossible to contact BA. Can you please respond to my messages? This is my last chance to bring back these belongings, and the only way possible. Please, it's important.

Suitcase badly damaged on arrival

LG shell suitcase badly damaged in transit i tried to report it at the airport but the agent was to busy and wanted me to hold the entire party up which i could not do. He said do it on line i filled the form in 5 times and the screen prompt said i had reached stage 5 of 17. which is a nonesense. The following day the site was to bust for the entire day so i tried again today but could not even get a connection. The case cost me about 54-55 pounds when i bought it i have had to replace it at a local cost of Β£80. Given they smashed it they want my insurance details which i put on the form with all the other information 5 times. It has absolutly nothing to do with my insurance and as a matter of fact shell cases are not repairable. By the time they have finished messing about the administration will have cost way more than the claim the entire process does nothing for their credibility whatsoever. I understand from others damaged case claims can take 6 -8 weeks and cost them God knows how much in administration. I have offered to send photographs once they give me a ref and a place to send said pictures but i cannot continue to travel with this bag. No Reply whatsoever and no doubt they will try and wriggle out of it with some administrative somersaults. Its simple i am a customer all i want is a service that works i have no wish or intention to rip anybody off i just want the case paid for they bust it!!!

Seat refund

July 2024 I paid for outward and homeward seats for both flights. Our homeward flight to Gatwick was cancelled by BA so they put us on another flight to London Heathrow. I have tried a lot of times for a refund for the return flight seats that were paid for. I did get a reply from BA last November to say they couldn't find anything, even though I have since sent proof that I have paid and also conformation from BA. I have sent quite a few e-mails since and I am getting no response.

Don't remember

hotel costs etc were reimbursed. They refused to pay the airline compensation. As per the claim 326951, the plane was delayed coming in to Marseilles, and we were then first told that the crew were over hours, we were then told that there was no longer a slot at LHR. We then had to find our own accommodation for the night. The replacement flight finally took off at approx 1400 the following day.

No reason given

I was at the airport just waiting to find out what gate my flight was leaving from and it just kept getting delayed more and more. When I eventually found out what gate it was leaving from I went straight there and asked them what was going on and why there was such a delay. The didn’t give me a reason why, they just told me that the flight was delayed. So I waited at the gate for almost 1,5hours and at that point even if the flight would have left that very second I would still have missed my connecting flight from London Heathrow to Stockholm Arlanda and the connecting flight was the last flight that day from Heathrow to Arlanda So I talked to the person at the drag at the gate and said that they’ll have to put my on another flight since I had now missed my connecting flight. After a lot of talking and arguing they put me on the same flight but 24hrs later than my original flight from Newcastle. All I got from them was a Β£5 voucher I could use at the airport (which wasn’t even enough to get me a sandwich and a bottle of water without adding money myself) Since I got put on a flight that was scheduled to leave 24hrs later than my original flight, I had to pay for a hotel room for a night, 1 meal of food the day I was meant to travel and 2 meals of food on the next day when I eventually did travel. And the cost of public transport to get from the airport to the hotel and back the day after So obviously this all cost me quite a bit of money in total and because I didn’t get back home until 24+ hours later than planned I missed a shift at work which cost me even more money

Cancellation due to Unplanned Spinal/Pelvic Fusion

I had a botched surgery in 2019 for an Sacroiliac Bone Fusion (SI Bone Fusion) I have travelled internationally and domestic several times in the five years since the surgery to Portugal, California, Florida, Bahamas, etc. In September 2023, a specialized x-ray machine detected that a screw was laying over a nerve, causing pain. On July 19, 2024, I was scheduled to have one errant screw removed. The doctor determined that the the entire fusion failed because the prior surgeon used the wrong size screws, etc. It was determined that a revision SI Bone fusion was necessary (this was a much serious surgery with a long recovery ) to stabilize the pelvic and spine. This was a much serious surgery Instead of a simple procedure, the operation evolved to removing all previous hardware. This involved extracting three screws (some attached to the pelvis), replacing with other pedicle screws and bone grafts. This was a much harder surgery than the original SI Bone Fusion which was a more serious surgery than the original surgery in 2019. I was on a walker until the day my spouse and I were to fly from the Denver, CO USA to London Heathrow on September 5, 2024. We were to fly British Airways from London to Naples on September 10 and back to London from Venice on September 25, 2024. I was unable physically to take the trip. I was too weak. I am recovering from this surgery six months later. Per voice and email communications, British Airways (BA) assured me they would give me a flight credit or refund because of the Medical Cancellation. Fifteen emails (with 5 different British Airways addresses) and several phone calls later, they denied any accommodation violating BA terms of carriage in Paragraph 3. They denied a Letter from my doctor because it was not on professional printed Stationery and because it did not have a doctor’s stamp. Doctors’ stamps are prohibited for reimbursement in the United States for any Medicare or Medicaid claim. Many doctors in the US do not professionally printed stationery. Many doctors use a template stored on their computer to fax or email their communications. Many prescriptions are required to be electronically transmitted. BA outsources their communications to call centers or individuals in New Delhi, India. That criteria may be available and appropiate in India, but not in the US. BA could have taken a couple of minute to find the website, or check the doctor's credentials through the regulatory authorities, and call Dr. Narvarkal, MD JD. Dr. Navarkal gave me permission to give his person cell phone which I forwarded in one of the emails. We can assume that BA resold the seats. A reputable company would give credit for a future flight. They would not profit and sell the seat twice because their passenger was medically prohibited for taking the triple

I purchased my ticket from London to Montevideo from British airways, stopping at Paris and Sao Paulo. The flight from Paris to Sao Paulo was operated by LATAM and was delayed, arriving after my connection to Montevideo had already left. LATAM provided hotel and transport vouchers and I spent the night (of my birthday, coincidentally) in a hotel outside Sao Paulo and fly to Montevideo the next morning at 6 am. I ended up arriving 12 hours later than expected. I purchased the ticket through British Airways so I requested the compensation from them. One month later they replied that they refused my compensation and I should request it from LATAM, but LATAM's costumer service page does not allow to make claims for past flights.

Technical problems

British Airways did reimburse us for the expense that came as a result of the delay or flight so I dont really need to claim those. However, when I tried to claim UK261 and send the letter I've attached above they sent me a bogus email (also attached above) saying that we were not entitled to any compensation because it was a weather issue. The initial email they sent notifying us of our cancelled flight clearly states that it was a technical reason why they were cancelling the flight. I am now using your services to try to claim for this problematic flight. It was a poor way to start our holiday almost two days late and with missed activities we had scheduled and paid for not to mention special events with friends that we were not able to attend because the airline failed to get us to London by Friday 15 December.

Successful claim

I was involuntarily downgraded from Premium Economy to Economy despite travelling with my young family (on another booking). I recently flew from LHR-HKG on BA27 on 17Oct24 with my wife, 5yr old and 18month infant. We were all booked into Premium Economy and owing to my different return date I was on a separate booking to my family. Due to British Airways’ policy of selling more tickets than seats on a plane, I was involuntarily downgraded to Economy for this long haul flight. Besides the discomfort of the smaller seat throughout this 13hour overnight flight, my wife was left to manage two young children including one baby all by herself which led to an extremely challenging and unpleasant flight for all of us. Flying long haul to Hong Kong with a young family was a big decision for us and for that particular reason we adjusted both our work and school plans so everyone could fly together, in the same cabin, paying a substantial premium over the standard economy fare. Whilst I may not agree with the practice of airlines selling more tickets than seats I do appreciate it is commonplace in the industry. However I was surprised that despite being informed at check in (3.5hours before the flight) and pre-boarding that this involuntary downgrade was enforced on me, splitting my young family on such a long overnight flight. We are regular fliers with British airways and my wife also has a Bronze Card (until recently Silver). I was advised by your Heathrow ground staff that British Airways would be providing a cash compensation for this action and disappointing start to the start of our family holiday. Kindly advise what I am entitled to and what you wish to offer me in light of this quite particular scenario. After 3 months of chasing i was offered Β£100 BA voucher or Β£75 cash which i said was unacceptable. They have refunded my card Β£346 towards the fare difference which I also feel is insufficient.

We were meant to arrive in Manchester just before 9am but we didnt end up landing until 12pm ish. They also lost our luggage.

No Flight

Back in September, on our way home from Italy, we we're booked on the EXACT same flight as our two other friends. For some reason our early morning flight was cancelled with no warning to us, but our friends got on a delayed flight. They traveled home and we were left in the airport to fend for ourselves. At this time there was nobody you could call for alternate routes, their "customer service" team wasn't even open. At the ticket counter we were offered to fly home two days later or book a new flight and request a refund. Since we did not have the option to stay for two more days, we cancelled with the promise to get our money back for the leg of the flight not travelled. After all of this we barely made it onto the new flight after going through security. To top it all off - after FIVE MONTHS of opening an inquiry with the "customer relation" team they so graciously awarded us $99/piece vs the $1200/person that was promised at the counter. It is impossible to communicate with anyone from their company and all they respond back with is sorry. Yeah, I bet you're sorry for literally robbing us for a flight that never happened. How is that even morally possible? Wait... British Airways has no morals and no compassion for their customers

Weather conditions

I booked a direct flight from LHR to Austin, this was cancelled (only received notification via email on the day of travel (at 3.30am on Friday 10th Jan) . so the only viable alternative was to fly the next day via Chicago resulting in a 28 hour delay arriving in Austin (instead of arriving a 6pm on Friday 10th Jan , I arrived at 9pm on Sat 11th), meaning a wasted nights hotel booking and the loss of a day I was supposed to be in Austin preparing for a sales summit

I was told my flight was cancelled on the day of the flight at 00:01 am. I called British airways and told them we had no money to pay for extra accommodation however they were no help and told us there was a flight for a later date.

When i got there i was certain i was going to get on the flight but it only showed 30 minutes delay. after that half an hour i received a 5 euro ticket where i could get food and drink. however the food itself was €5 and there was not much of anything i could’ve gotten and the shops in the airport had closed.

Lost luggage x2

Luggage returned to home address on 24/9/24 after return home. Essential clothing and cosmetics for all of holiday (9days) was Β£772.82. Letter for compensation to BA Customer relations sent recorded delivery on 13/10.24 along with receipts. No acknowledgement or response. Further letter for claim and complaint made by letter 06/01/25. Further phone call to BA made on 27/01/25 and I was advised that there is no record of either letter and that I should make an on line claim. On line complaints and claim seems very inappropriate and not able to do this effectively.
