The flight from LHR to ORD arrived almost one hour late (1641 - scheduled at 1544) at the gate in Chicago. Subsequently, we missed our connection to Omaha at 1726 /expected to arrive in Omaha at 1858. We contacted the American Airlines agent, who rebooked us on a later flight that arrived in Omaha at 2340.

We were originally offered the same flight on the following day. We switched this for a flight to another airport (I believe Verona), from Heathrow, incurring transfer costs at both ends for which I unfortunately do not have receipts, and losing a day of our holiday.

A typhoon in Hong Kong caused the delay which we were fine with until we saw two Cathay Pacific flights take off whilst we waited at the gate to be told the flight was being delayed until the following day. Arrived in Hong Kong at around 10.30am one day later than scheduled.

I was traveling from Cornwall to London and that is a 6hrs journey and I got an email that my flight was cancelled as I was arriving at the airport in the morning at 7am. There was nobody from Qatar Airways desk to ask anything or clarify why the flight was cancelled. I had to sit in the airport from morning till 5pm which is when the next flight wa scheduled. Then we departed from the airport 1hr 20mins late which led to me missing my connecting flight in Doha. It was my birthday and I had planned a celebration at home but I missed that and spent almost 2 days in Qatar. They never communicated anything to the passengers or assure them.

There was a huge queue at the check-in counter, and only a few staff members were working very slowly. The flight was delayed, and the information on the board was unclear. The airport's information boards should be visible throughout the airport, not just in the first-floor lobby. It was inconvenient to follow the information on the board, but this was not the fault of British Airlines. The flight was delayed due to a malfunction in the aircraft. We had to wait for another flight, and there was limited information available. The gate was located far away, and it was unclear why people were boarding the aircraft and then being sent back to the waiting room.

Technical problems

We had a flight from Milan to Nashville with a layover in London. We were delayed over an hour leaving Milan, and when we arrived in London, our flight to Nashville had not yet departed but we received an email from British Airways notifying us that our booking on the flight had been cancelled. The customer service agents at Heathrow explained that there was not enough time remaining for us to go through security and board the flight before it departed. Because of this issue, we were delayed by an entire day as we were rebooked on a flight departing the next day (July 6th) at the same time as our original flight. We filed a claim with British Airways, but they denied it on the grounds that the delay was for a reason out of their control. However, the explanation we received on our trip was that the plane was required by Italian law to be sprayed with insecticide prior to landing in Italy, and the flight was delayed because the insecticide requirements had not been properly met which led to a delay while the spray was applied. This explanation was clearly communicated to us by 3 different British Airways parties - the gate attendant while delayed and waiting to board in Milan, a flight attendant on the plane after boarding, and the pilot over the loudspeaker to all passengers before takeoff. Upon further research, I understand that the insecticide requirement was issued by the Italian Health Ministry in 2024, that a residual disinsection certificate is required to be presented by all incoming aircraft, and that if an aircraft arrives in Italy from countries deemed at-risk for certain insect-borne diseases without a valid disinsection certificate, then an exceptional disinsection procedure is required to be completed before the plane may board and depart. Since British Airways explained that the reason for the delay was a disinsection procedure, then one can reasonably deduce that the root cause was an expired or non-existent disinsection certificate. This root cause was certainly within the airline's control, so it is British Airways' responsibility to reimburse us for the delay as required by UK/EC Regulation No 261/2004. Furthermore, the cancellation email from BA provided above explicitly states that we are entitled to a refund.

The Airline came back with three separate responses as below: 1. First on the 18th Sep 2024, apologizing for cancelling my flight and offering an e-voucher of 300 GBP and expiry within a year! I replied that I cannot accept this as I am eligible under EU Law for a monetary compensation, but they never replied. 2. Secondly on 3rd October 2024, saying my flight was delayed(!) and not cancelled due to air traffic control restrictions and my claim was therefore rejected. 3. Thirdly on the 15th October 2024, saying that they informed me about my flight cancellation 14 days before my flight, quoting a different flight on a different date!

Weather conditions

Summary of Events: After our flight was delayed and connection missed, we spent nearly 2 hours in a queue to speak to a British Airways representative to be rebooked. When we finally reached the front of the line, we were issued a snack voucher that had already expired. We were bussed to a hotel—only to stand in line for nearly another hour there before being informed that no rooms were available. We were then bussed back to the airport and left to wait another 45–60 minutes, only to be told that no hotels were available nearby. Ultimately, the only option provided was a hotel located 30 miles away, and we were expected to cover our own transportation costs—which totaled $140 (receipts attached). Further Impacts: This self-arranged lodging meant leaving extremely early the next morning, adding stress and reducing rest ahead of international travel. Despite planning to arrive an hour early for our check-in at 9:25 a.m., traffic delays near the airport (specifically on Tunl Rd E) caused us to lose that entire buffer, forcing us to rush through check-in and security, increasing our stress significantly. We were explicitly told at rebooking that our bags would be transferred to our new United flights. They were not. We had to spend additional time at Heathrow correcting this error. Upon arriving in Denver, none of our checked baggage arrived with us. All of our clothes, souvenirs, and gifts were delayed—yet another avoidable failure in this chain of mishandling. Unacceptable Experience: This experience was inexcusable and has left us with a deep sense of frustration and anger. While delays can happen, the utter lack of preparation, miscommunication, and complete failure of duty of care was staggering. This was not an isolated error—it was a compounding sequence of mismanagement that turned a bad situation into an intolerable one. The response from the Duty Office—after they contacted me unsolicited—was nothing more than a generic "we’re sorry", offering no meaningful assistance or resolution. If no actual help can be provided, such gestures only make things worse. At one point during our long waits, we overheard staff casually mention that this kind of chaos is routine. That may be the most damning detail of all. We were assured that transportation and related costs would be reimbursed, but we have since read that this process can take up to 6–8 weeks. Frankly, after this experience, I have no confidence that this will be handled with integrity or urgency. What would have happened if we hadn’t had funds available to pay for our own hotel transfer? We received no alternative options. To add insult to injury, we were rebooked into middle seats, despite having paid for specific seats on our original flights—a further downgrade to an already awful travel experience.

Larnaca Airport - Non existing business class

1. Check-in experience The Business Class check-in experience at Larnaca Airport was extremely disappointing. We arrived 2.5 hours prior to departure, only to find that the Business Class check-in desk did not open until exactly 2 hours before the flight. There was only one Business Class desk, compared to two for Economy, and priority of the business class check-in was given to families and passengers requiring mobility assistance, which significantly delayed the process. The Economy desks exclusively served Economy passengers (no families or mobility assistance passengers), meaning Business Class passengers like us were left waiting. As a result, all Economy passengers were checked in and had proceeded to boarding before we had even been processed, completely undermining the benefits expected with a Business Class ticket. When I raised a complaint about this to the ground staff, their response was dismissive: "This is how we do it here." This attitude and process are completely unacceptable for Business Class passengers who expect and pay for a higher level of service and efficiency. 2. Lounge access Due to the delayed check-in, we lost all opportunity to use the Business Class lounge, which was one of the key benefits of booking that cabin. 3. Boarding chaos Boarding was disorganized: the ground staff cut off boarding pass sections so that seat numbers were no longer visible. The crew had to manually use tablets to determine seating assignments. Some passengers were moved multiple times, turning it into a distressing game of musical chairs. 4. Arrival delay and aircraft parking Although the flight departed late and recovered lost time in the air, upon arrival we were forced to wait approximately 50 minutes onboard because no parking stand was available at the terminal—since the designated bay was occupied by another delayed aircraft. 5. Baggage delay Finally, after disembarking, we endured a long wait for our luggage, compounding an already stressful experience. Given the premium fare paid for Business Class, I find this level of service entirely unacceptable. We did not receive the benefits we were assured—namely efficient check in, lounge access, or a smooth boarding and arrival experience. Resolution sought I respectfully request: • A formal apology for the series of failures listed above. • Consideration for fair compensation, reflecting that we did not receive the value of Business Class as promised. • Assurance that these issues—particularly the delayed check in and boarding mismanagement—are addressed for future passengers. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your response within the timeframe you aim for—acknowledgment within 7 days and a full reply within 28 days.

Subject: Formal Complaint – Denied Boarding and Request for Refund and Reinstatement of Ticket (Booking Ref: U2CTJS) Dear British Airways Customer Relations, I am writing to lodge a formal complaint regarding the unacceptable treatment my 17-year-old son, Danylo Buhaienko, a Ukrainian citizen, received from British Airways staff at Heathrow Airport on 4 July 2025, resulting in denied boarding, undue financial burden, and significant distress for a minor. My son was booked on flight BA0850 from London Heathrow to Warsaw on 4 July 2025 at 13:45 (Booking Ref: U2CTJS) with a confirmed return flight BA0847 from Warsaw to London on 3 September 2025 at 11:50am. This return was critical, as he is due to resume his studies in the UK. At approximately 3:20pm, during check-in at Terminal 5, your staff questioned my son about his travel documents. When informed that Poland was a transit country en route to Ukraine and that Ukrainian citizens do not require a visa for short stays in Poland, staff incorrectly insisted that a visa was mandatory and that his passport (valid until 12 November 2025) did not meet the “six-month validity” rule. At 4:20pm, my son’s guardian presented official information proving no visa was required for transit and that only three months’ passport validity beyond the intended stay is necessary. After a 25-minute delay, at 4:45, staff acknowledged their error but then introduced a new justification: that his return flight on 3 September would fall within the final three months of his passport validity. They claimed this posed a problem for re-entry to the UK. At 4:50pm, your staff pressured my son to reschedule his return ticket to an earlier date, asserting he had only five minutes to decide or risk being denied boarding entirely. Under this coercion, he rescheduled his return flight to 29 July 2025 and was charged an additional £96. However, at 5:05pm, following a call with a supervisor, your staff informed him that even with the rescheduled ticket, he would still be denied boarding as this action “violated company policy.” They then took a photograph of his passport “for clarification” and left him in the terminal without further assistance. Throughout this ordeal, I attempted to resolve the issue via your website chat-bot and several calls to your customer service hotline (with screenshots available), requesting support from a Ukrainian or Russian-speaking agent. No meaningful assistance was provided. My son was forced to remain overnight at Heathrow Airport and the following day I purchased a ticket on another airline to enable his return to Ukraine. This sequence of events constitutes a denial of boarding under EC Regulation 261/2004 and UK law. Your staff unilaterally assumed authority to predict future passport issues for a flight two months later, disregarding the fact that passport control is the jurisdiction of UK border authorities, not British Airways. Furthermore, my son explicitly stated he was returning to Ukraine to apply for a new passport. This mistreatment of a minor passenger, coupled with misinformation and pressure tactics, led to unnecessary costs and emotional distress. Accordingly, we hereby demand the following remedies: 1. A full refund of £96 charged for the forced and unnecessary rescheduling of the return ticket to 29 July 2025, which was never used, as my son will obtain a new passport in Ukraine. 2. Immediate reinstatement of the original return ticket (3 September 2025), as my son must return to London for the start of the academic year. Supporting documents, including booking confirmations, receipts, passport scans, and call records, are attached for your reference. We expect a written response and resolution within 14 calendar days of receipt of this letter. Should you fail to provide a satisfactory response, we will escalate the matter to the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR), and, if necessary, seek redress through legal channels for both financial and non-financial damages. Yours sincerely, Viktoriia Buhaienko +380677669131 on behalf of Danylo Buhaienko (minor passenger)

Extreme inefficiency and delay

To begin,check-in details via email were not sent and I was unable to check-in online through BA website prior to departure. w checking in passengers. It seemed to come to a complete halt due to two families taking over 25 minutes for check in? There was no back up to move others through? Priority check-in was slow and those passengers that were able to check in prior to today were slow. In addition, there were technical issues with the flight that caused a delay. That happens and it’s understandable. However, once we were able to board, that process was not smooth either with boarding passes in hand! Seats had to be changed? On board, passengers were concerned about their connecting flights since there was little time. Assurances were made that connecting flights were made aware of the delay, however, many of those people were on the back of the plane! In addition my luggage is sitting in terminal 5 in LHR airport and it was supposed to be checked through to Philadelphia. This crew in Paris working for BA did not have proper training and were therefore incapable of doing a proper job!

My Name is Patrick Watters, I am the son in law (and the person who paid for the flight) for my mother in law, passenger who was so greatly inconvenienced by first of the the delayed British Airways flights (Booking Ref Z593H8 Flight no BA0056) This flight was due to leave at 19.15 from OR Tambo Johannesburg on 2nd July 2025. It was delayed until 11.00 from OR Tambo Johannesburg on 3rd July 2025. What happened next was very distressing for my 74 year old mother in law who was travelling alone and required wheelchair assist. She landed at 21:00 at Heathrow on 3rd of July 2025. but her onward flight to Belfast (which before the delay amounted to a 2 hour layover) did not take off until 07:25 on 4th July 2025 (flight BA1414), which equated to an overnight stay in a wheelchair at departures. Having spent almost 2 hours trying to get through to BA customer services on 3rd July explaining the needs of my elderly mother in law, I was instructed that she should go straight to the BA desk at Terminal 5 Heathrow on Arrival whereby she would be given accommodation over night plus assistance to get there. This was far from the case, when she got there she was point blank refused accommodation or any further assistance by the staff even though she was clearly frail and wheelchair bound. This overall delay with it's poor substandard treatment was an absolute disgrace.

Technical problems

From: Qatar Airways Customer Care Sent: Wednesday, June 4, 2025 3:07:05 PM To: MICHAEL HIRONS Subject: Reference to Case Reference : CAS-149380-L8D6V9 CRM:0830000204736 Dear Mr. Hirons, First and foremost, we would like to express our apologies for the fact it has taken some time to respond to you. This correspondence pertains to the delay of your flight QR675 on March 28, 2025, from the Maldives to Doha. We recognize the inconvenience that this situation has caused you and Mrs. Hirons, and we understand how distressing it must have been. While we strive to ensure timely departures, there are instances when delays or cancellations occur due to factors beyond our control, as was the case with flight QR675, which was affected by a delay of the inbound aircraft due to technical issues. At Qatar Airways, we prioritize the safety of our passengers and staff in all operational aspects. Therefore, we only proceed with flights when it is deemed safe to do so. Furthermore, we would like to clarify that according to our Conditions of Carriage, in the event of flight delays or cancellations, we are committed to rerouting or rebooking affected passengers to their intended destination or the nearest available location indicated on their ticket using our earliest scheduled services or those of another carrier, as was done in your situation. We understand that, as a valued customer, you have every right to expect a high level of service from Qatar Airways, and we sincerely regret that we did not meet your expectations in this instance. The experience you faced does not reflect the high standards of service we aim to uphold. As one of the fastest-growing airlines globally, we are acutely aware of our customers' expectations and continually strive to meet them. It is important to note that, as Qatar Airways is classified as a non-European airline and the delayed flight was departing from an airport outside the European Union, the EC261 regulation does not apply in this instance. Consequently, we must respectfully decline your request for compensation under the EC guidelines. However, we recommend checking with your independent travel insurance provider, as this may offer a potential avenue for restitution. We also suggest that you reach out to British Airways regarding your concerns about seating, as they will be in a better position to assist you further. As a gesture of goodwill, we would like to offer both you and Mrs. Hirons, USD 150 each, in the form of an Electronic Miscellaneous Document (EMD)/travel voucher. This travel voucher is non-refundable, non-transferable and would need to be issued within 3 months from the date of this email. Once issued it will be valid for one year from the date of issue and can be used as part payment towards the purchase of a Qatar Airways ticket and eligible services either through www.qatarairways.com or our Contact Center. We look forward to your acceptance after which we shall arrange for the travel vouchers to be issued and have it emailed to you. Please accept our repeated apologies for any inconvenience caused and remain hopeful of your continued support and patronage. We appreciate the opportunity to respond and thank you for your attention. Strike

My flight was cancelled due to an airline-specific strike affecting Iberia staff at Madrid Airport, a company that is part of the same IAG Group as British Airways. Crucially, this was not a general airport-wide strike but an internal dispute affecting your airline and its partner Iberia, meaning it does not qualify as an extraordinary circumstance under EU261/UK261. Flights from other airlines at Madrid Airport were unaffected. Due to the cancellation, I was rerouted on an alternative itinerary via Bordeaux, with the following flights: • IB8700: Madrid → Bordeaux (16:00 – 17:25) • BA2571: Bordeaux → London Gatwick (22:05 – 22:45) This changed my total journey time from 2 hours 20 minutes to 7 hours 40 minutes, representing a significant delay and inconvenience. I was also rerouted to London Gatwick instead of London Heathrow, causing further disruption. Before accepting the rerouting, I explicitly asked your customer service agent over the phone whether I would be eligible for compensation under UK261 for this cancellation. I was clearly told yes, and based on that confirmation, I accepted the alternative routing instead of making other travel arrangements.

Late suitcase - departure from heathrow, arrival in Marseill

This is the complaint email I sent British Airways: Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding my flight from London Heathrow (LHR) to Marseille (MRS) on [date], arriving at 8:30 AM. Like many passengers on that flight, my suitcase did not arrive—it was apparently left behind in London. I was initially told it would be delivered later that day, then informed it would arrive the following day. Later still, I received a call confirming the bag had arrived in Marseille and would be delivered between 2:00 PM and 7:30 PM, with the driver contacting me when nearby. When the driver did arrive, my name was on his list, but my suitcase was not in the vehicle. I am on a business trip. My suitcase contains essential work clothing, conference materials, and critical medication. The continued lack of clear communication and responsibility is unacceptable. How is it possible that I was contacted with confirmation that my bag had arrived and was with the driver, only for the driver to arrive empty-handed? I demand immediate resolution and appropriate compensation for the stress, disruption, and additional costs incurred.

Booking code is WWMH6B. Flight BA99 (London to Toronto) was delay on August 8, 2024 that caused us to miss the connection for flight WS 445 (Toronto to Edmonton) that was scheduled to arrive in final destination on Aug 8, 2024. We ended up staying overnight in Toronto (hotel provided by British Airways) and took the next flight from Air Canada (flight AC0169) to our final destination in Edmonton on August 9, 2024.

There was a delay to flight BA99 (London to Toronto) on Aug 8, 2024 that caused us to miss our connection from Toronto to Edmonton (final destination). We reached our final destination one day later on Aug 9, 2024 on flight AC 169 instead of flight WS445 for Aug 8, 2024. The airline provided an email indicating the delay was due to operational constraints and a customer requiring medical assistance.

Problems at airport

We have arrived to Kansas MCI on June 30 at midnight, 23hours after the planned arrival. British airways let us queue for 7 hours at LHR terminal 3 without any shops and food, only chips and water was served after several hours of waiting. with our 2 year old son and 6 year old daugher, there were no seats in the terminal we were on the floor like homeless people. Ground staff after landing in London denied us to give us the stroller, despite ground staff in Prague gave the stroller delivery at the aircraft tag. We have missed a family reunion which we have planned for almost a year.

Weather conditions

The flight got diverted and we were not booked to another flight nor offered a hotel, so I had to purchase a new ticket to get to my destination. I contacted the airline and they couldn't help me as I bought my ticket through American Airlines, so I contact AA and they can't help me as I boarded a BA and not AA.

Flight got diverted

The flight got diverted so we didn't land at our destination, we landed in Dallas TX instead of Houston TX, and no next day flight was booked nor a hotel as it was 12am at arrival. Therefore I had to purchase a new ticket to get to my destination as well as making my own arrangements for hotel and transport.

seat problem

I was allocated to seat number 29E Unfortunately after take off my seat came away from the main frame and kept siding forward. I lifted myself off the seat and looked at the actual seat only to find that the Velcro had completely rotted and the seat was not able to hold onto the frame. My wife pointed this out to a member of staff by the name of Chris but he said there was nothing he could do not even try to help but we could see that there were empty seats available right across where we were sitting. I had flown with BA before and very satisfied but in this case I was absolutely disgusted in having to seat for nearly five hours on an unsafe and uncomfortable seat. (I did take photos of the seat in question) I do hope that you can see the problem I had on this flight and understand why I was not very happy with this situation. Kind regards G.C

The second flight from London to larnaca was delayed more than 3 hours. I was supposed to arrive in larnaca at 3:20 and we got there 6:30pm. When I contacted the airline they said that the delay was 174 minutes. They told me that the scheduled time to arrive was supposed to be 12:20gmt and that we arrived 15:14 gmt if you see at my ticket the scheduled time to arrive is different! And I arrived at 16:20 pm

Lost luggage

Having reported lost luggage to an exceptionally unfriendly designated airport customer service official, I was told my bag would be delivered during the night to the Nordic Lights hotel. This did not happen, with several calls in the following two days leading nowhere. I was only able to pick up my suitcase at the airport upon leaving Sweden three days later, having been forces to make an academic presentation in my travelling clothes.

Weather conditions

Claiming this on behalf of my mother. My mother was left to her own devices to arrange extended stay at family and friends in the UK and also missed an entire day of work. Flight was cancelled 1 day before departure, BA did not even offer hotel or lodgings for the extra day. BA informs they cannot compensate under adverse weather conditions at destination, records show they have operated other flights to this destination throughout the entire day. They do not honor their obligation to passengers and even in all these, we seek the bare minimum compensation.

What time did you arrive at your final destination? Approx 1800 What did the airline tell you, and when? We got an email text about 10:30 that morning while we were in the taxi to the airport that the flight was cancelled What care did the airline provide, if any? None in person at the airport, had to join a chat to get a better flight home than offered at 18:25 How did the incident inconvenience you? I was due to mind my kids that night so my wife could go to an event, she had to cancel Did you miss an event or lose money? no
