Problems at airport
I was travelling on one booking from Tel Aviv to Brussels via Rome on 1 July 2026 (booking reference YFJVF6). My first flight, ITA Airways AZ807 from Tel Aviv to Rome, was scheduled to depart at 14:30 and arrive at 17:15. My connecting flight was AZ7638 / Brussels Airlines SN3182 from Rome to Brussels, scheduled to depart at 18:10 and arrive in Brussels at 20:20. AZ807 was disrupted/delayed and, as a consequence, I missed my confirmed connection in Rome. ITA Airways then involuntarily rerouted me onto the later AZ7642 / Brussels Airlines SN3184, scheduled to depart Rome at 21:05 and arrive in Brussels at 23:15. My replacement ticket is specifically marked βINVOL REROUTE.β As a result, I spent several additional hours at Rome Fiumicino and reached Brussels approximately three hours later than originally scheduled. The relevant actual arrival/disembarkation time should be verified from the airlineβs operational records. The disruption continued after arrival because my checked suitcase did not arrive in Brussels with me. Brussels Airlines opened a delayed baggage case and only arranged courier delivery on 3 July, approximately two days later. I therefore spent two days without my checked luggage and personal belongings. I already submitted a compensation claim directly to ITA Airways. ITA rejected it, stating that AZ807 had been delayed due to βair traffic control restrictionsβ and therefore constituted extraordinary circumstances. ITA did not provide me with the underlying ATC documentation or detailed evidence supporting that assertion. I am providing their written rejection and would like AirAdvisor to verify whether ITA can substantiate this defence and whether the circumstances genuinely exempt them from compensation under EC261. The missed connection, involuntary rerouting, substantial delay at my final destination and two-day baggage delay caused significant inconvenience during the same journey.- Tel-aviv-Brussels

Our flight from Catania to Rome was cancelled, and I had an urgent flight home to Singapore the morning after from Rome. I had to cancel this flight due to the lack of alternative flights that would arrive in time, and re-book my flight for the evening. I had to incur significant costs for this, for which I request compensation.- Catania-Rome

Business
Poor service on 12 hour+ international flight.
I am writing to provide feedback about my business class experience on my flight from Rome to Los Angeles on August 11. Unfortunately, the level of service did not meet the standards I would expect from ITA Airways business class. The bathroom was dirty almost immediately after we departed Rome, rather than becoming an issue later in the flight. This was particularly disappointing on a long-haul business class flight. In addition, no one came through the cabin to offer water, and there was no regular pass through the cabin with a trash bag to collect garbage. These are basic service expectations, particularly in business class on a long international flight. I hope ITA Airways will take this feedback seriously and review the cabin service and cleaning procedures on this route. I would appreciate a response regarding how these issues will be addressed. Thank youOverall

Cabin luggage forced to check-in
I was forced to check in my cabin luggage because I was told that my backpack did not comply with the airline's size requirements. However, once I boarded the aircraft, I was instructed to place my backpack under the seat in front of me, where it fit perfectly, as shown in the attached photo. To make matters worse, the staff member at the boarding gate was passive-aggressive. She even warned me that, starting in September, I would have to pay an additional β¬70 for carrying the same backpack onboard. This makes no sense, considering that it clearly fits within the allowed dimensions. Furthermore, many of the overhead compartments were only half full. Despite this, I was told that the staff could not retrieve my cabin suitcase and bring it onboard, even though it fully complied with the airline's cabin baggage policy. As a result, I will have to wait at my destination airport for a luggage that should never have been checked in in the first place. I expect a refund and appropriate compensation for the inconvenience, the unnecessary delay, and the extremely poor customer service I experienced. This is particularly unacceptable considering that I paid β¬400 for a return flight to Greece. I will never fly with this airline again.

My flight from Florence (FCO) to Rome (FCO) was delayed, causing me to miss my connection to Denver (DEN) and then on to San Antonio (SAT). I couldn't get another flight until the next day, so I had to get a hotel room in Rome. I was also within my 24 hour cancelation window for my hotel at my final destination, San Antonio, so I had to pay for that hotel as well. ITA Airways will not let me submit a claim because my flight was not delayed more than 3 hours, even though it caused me to miss my connection. I booked my entire flight through United, so I submitted a claim there.- Florence-San Antonio

The flight change happend on the morning of the day I was supposed to leave. I was about to check out at my hotel to go to the airport. They didnt offer me an option by email, so I was without a place to stay in a foreign city. I callled the company to make the flight changes and they took more than one hour to answer the phone (see screenshot of the call duration). I got a flight for the day after.- Florence-Marseille

I have already filed a claim pertaining to seat reimbursement (Re Case Number:06073605). This claim is pertaining to the flight delay and extra charge we incurred for transportation from airport to hotel. We had already prepaid for transportation and this charge of 180 Euro was extra.- Bari-Catania

Pregnant customer - ignorant customer adviser
I am pregnant and I need to fly after week 28. I have spent the last 4 weeks trying to speak to the customer service to get assurance that the fit to fly certificate that I can obtain in the United Kingdom where I live and where I will fly from will be accepted by the airline. I explained that in the UK, pregnant women are followed by a midwide (ostetrica) and that I can get a medical certificate provided by a mid-wife confirming my fit to fly. I was asked to provide the details of the specific certificate so it could be checked with the medical team in Rome. I chased many times and today an ignorant and rude customer service adviser called me without providing a real response and treating me with contempt. This is the WORST customer service I have ever received, you should really consider who you hire as that person should be fired with immediate effect.Overall

Dear ITA Airways Customer Relations, I am contacting you again regarding my previous complaint (06000343). I have already submitted this claim, and I received your response stating that no compensation would be provided. However, I do not consider this matter to be resolved, despite the fact that my case has been closed. As there is no possibility to reply directly to your previous email, I am forced to contact you again through your online complaint form in order to request a formal review of your decision. I must respectfully disagree with your conclusion. In your response you state that flight AZ345 was delayed due to air traffic control restrictions. However, I have evidence from your own ITA Airways flight status information showing that the delay was caused by: βLate arrival of aircraft.β This directly contradicts the explanation provided in your response. I therefore request that you clarify this discrepancy and provide documentary evidence supporting your claim that the delay was caused by air traffic control restrictions. Furthermore, during the flight the Captain informed passengers that the departure was delayed because the aircraft was waiting for passengers and crew arriving from another delayed flight. This explanation is also inconsistent with your response. As a result of this delay, I missed my connecting flight to Bologna. Instead of arriving as scheduled, I reached my final destination approximately seven hours late and only after midnight, on the following day. Because of this disruption, I suffered significant financial losses: I lost my original rental car reservation (β¬250). I was forced to book a new rental car at a cost of approximately β¬700. As I arrived after midnight, the rental office was closed and no hotel accommodation was provided by ITA Airways. My wife and I had to find and pay for a hotel ourselves at a cost of β¬90 for one night. I incurred additional expenses directly resulting from the disruption. I have retained all receipts, invoices, booking confirmations and supporting documentation for these expenses and I am ready to provide them upon your request. In addition, both my wife and I believe we are entitled to compensation under EC Regulation 261/2004, as the available evidence indicates that the delay was caused by circumstances within the airlineβs operational responsibility rather than extraordinary circumstances. I would also like to reiterate my serious concern regarding my cabin baggage. Despite informing your staff several times that my hand luggage contained essential medication, I was forced to check it into the hold and was separated from medication that I required during my journey. I consider this completely unacceptable and a serious failure in passenger care and safety. I request a formal explanation as to why this occurred and whether your staff acted in accordance with ITA Airways procedures. If my claim continues to be rejected without satisfactory evidence supporting your position, I will have no alternative but to pursue my rights through the appropriate National Enforcement Body and, if necessary, through legal proceedings to recover compensation and damages. I sincerely hope that ITA Airways will review this matter fairly and resolve it without the need for further legal action. I look forward to your prompt response.- Nice-Bologna

Escalation: Flight Delay Claim Not Resolved
I am writing to follow up regarding my flight delay compensation claim, which has been pending for more than eight to nine months without a proper resolution. I have contacted customer service multiple times over the last five to six months and have also sent several emails, but I have not received any response or update. Due to the lack of communication, I submitted another claim to try to reconnect with your team. My first claim number is 05155732. This claim was approved, and I received an email stating that I would be receiving a check at the address I provided. However, I have not received the check yet. I have followed up several times through emails and phone calls, but I have not received any assistance. The second claim number is 05878513, which was rejected for certain reasons. I am unable to understand why my second claim was rejected when my original claim was already approved. My main request is to receive an update on my approved claim (05155732) and have the payment/check issued as soon as possible. I would appreciate your urgent attention to this matter and a clear response regarding the status of my approved claim.- Economy

Due to the delay of our flight on 28.06.2026 from Catania to Rome, we missed our connecting flight from Rome to Vienna. The airline was unable to offer us an alternative flight on the same day. Instead, they provided us with hotel accommodation and taxi transportation in Rome, and we were rebooked on a flight the next day 29.06.2026. As a result of the delay, we lost an entire day, missed an important day at work, and were unable to attend important business meetings. In addition, our checked baggage did not arrive with us in Vienna. It was left behind in Rome and we arrived without our luggage, causing further inconvenience.Instead of being in Vienna on Sunday evening at 19:40, we arrived in Vienna on Monday morning 12:00.- Catania-Vienna

Flight delay of more than 3 hours
Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding flight ITA Airways AZ357 from Paris Orly to Milan, scheduled to depart at 07:30 on June 3rd. The departure of the flight was significantly delayed and only took place at 10:30, resulting in a delay of three hours. This delay had serious consequences. I am COO from Hitachi Energy France, and I was travelling to Milan for an urgent and important customer meeting. Due to the delay, I arrived far too late and was unable to properly attend the scheduled meeting. As I had a return flight to Paris already booked for the same day, there was no opportunity to reschedule or hold the planned discussions. Given the circumstances and the impact of this delay, I hereby request: A full refund of the flight ticket, and Compensation for the disruption and the missed business opportunity, in line with applicable passenger rights regulations (EU261). Regards, Patrick PlasOverall

Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing on behalf of my mother, Arti Sharma, to formally request compensation regarding her recent travel with ITA Airways. She traveled from Delhi to Toronto via Rome on April 2, 2026 (Flights AZ 769 and AZ 650). Due to operational changes, her journey was rerouted and included additional segments: Rome to Montreal β Flight AC893 (Air Canada) Montreal to Toronto β Flight AC487 (Air Canada) Unfortunately, her journey involved multiple issues: The initial flight from Delhi was delayed by approximately 1.5 hours. Her connecting flight from Rome to Toronto was changed without prior notice, and she was rerouted via Montreal. During the Montreal stop, she was required to remain onboard for approximately 4 hours, causing significant discomfort. Her final arrival in Toronto was significantly delayed (scheduled 5:30 PM, actual arrival around 9:00 PM). After arrival, she had to wait nearly 3 hours for her baggage, and one bag was missing and delivered the next day. The delivered baggage was damaged (visible scratches on the suitcase). Due to these disruptions, the overall travel experience was extremely inconvenient and disappointing. Additionally, because of the delay and baggage issues, we had to purchase a new suitcase. Furthermore, additional expenses were incurred, including pre-booked parking at Toronto Airport that could not be utilized as planned. Given these circumstances, we kindly request compensation for: Flight delay and disruption Rerouting and extended onboard delay in Montreal Baggage delay and inconvenience Damage to baggage Cost of purchasing new baggage Additional expenses incurred due to the delay For your review, I have attached the flight booking details, all boarding passes, parking booking, and photographs of the damaged baggage. Please advise on the next steps and any further documentation required to process this claim. We look forward to your prompt response and a fair resolution. Thank you for your time and consideration. Kind regards, Kapil (On behalf of Arti Sharma)Overall
