Derrick Feerick Rosebank, Trees Avenue Mount Merrion Co Dublin A94 H6C7 Derrick.Feerick@gmail.com +353 860421579 6th October 2025 Customer Relations Department Aer Lingus Limited Dublin Airport Co. Dublin Ireland Subject: Compensation Claim for Cancelled Flight [EI604, 03rd Oct] Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to formally request compensation under EU Regulation 261/2004 following the cancellation of my Aer Lingus flight EI604 from Dublin to Amsterdam on 3rd October. Due to the cancellation, I was unable to attend an important event scheduled for that evening in Amsterdam, resulting not only in significant distress and inconvenience but also in financial losses. Specifically, I incurred unrecoverable costs for accommodation and event arrangements, in addition to the disruption to my travel plans. According to EU Regulation 261/2004, passengers are entitled to compensation for cancellations unless caused by extraordinary circumstances. In this case, I believe I am entitled to compensation of €250, as the distance of the flight falls within the short-haul bracket. I also seek reimbursement for the additional expenses I incurred as a direct result of the cancellation, amounting to [insert amount €378.00 Please find attached copies of my booking confirmation, receipts for accommodation and related expenses, and any other supporting documents. I kindly request that my claim be processed promptly, and that compensation and reimbursement be arranged at the earliest opportunity. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your reply. Yours sincerely, Derrick Feerick

Problems at airport

This flight is showing as arriving on time at 1415 but it was diverted to Cork where it arrived at 1415. It left Cork for Dublin around 1615 and arrived in Dublin just before 1645. We were kept on the tarmac and didn't get to the gate until 1815. The doors didn't open until close to 1850. Terminal 2 in Dublin was disrupted all day following it being closed down for an hour in the morning due to a suspicious device at security.

OdwoΕ‚any lot/ Cancelled flight

Dear Aer Lingus Customer Relations, I am writing to formally submit a complaint regarding my disrupted journey with Aer Lingus, which caused significant inconvenience and distress for me and my family. Our original flight EI [EI 0333] from Seattle to Dublin was scheduled for 20 September at 20:40. However, only about 5 hours before departure, we were informed that the flight was cancelled and rescheduled for the following day (21 September around 20:20). This situation was extremely difficult, especially as we were travelling with our 3-year-old child. We immediately contacted your helpline and waited over 5 hours, yet no one ever answered. We also requested to be rebooked on an earlier available flight (only about 6 hours later the same evening), but this request was refused. Instead, we were rebooked onto a British Airways connection with a very inconvenient itinerary: On 20 September we already spent around 4 hours at the airport before receiving the cancellation notice. On 21 September we had to check out of the hotel at 12:00 and then wait over 8 hours at the airport with our child before the delayed departure. The new journey involved a 9-hour flight followed by an additional 6-hour layover at London Heathrow before finally reaching Berlin. The entire experience was exhausting, stressful, and unacceptable. The lack of communication, refusal of reasonable alternatives, and extremely long waiting times (particularly with a small child) caused us significant distress. According to EU Regulation 261/2004, I am requesting: Standard compensation for the cancelled flight (400 EUR per passenger for this route). I kindly ask for a prompt resolution of this matter and look forward to your reply. Yours sincerely, Krystian Jelak.

No reason given

Aer Lingus refused compensation stating that the there were extentuating circumstances, however, this is clearly not the case. The flight was initially delayed due to weather conditions that did not prevent any other flights taking off. When we boarded the flight, the pilot indicated, in person, that the flight was overweight. The pilot then later advised that the crew were no longer able to fly due to exceeding working hours. The flight was then cancelled on this basis. We remained in Lanzarote until the following day when aer Lingus get us another flight. I attempted to claim directly but was refused on three occasions, I also tried through Spanish ADR but got no assistance.

Technical problems

We had a trip to Belfast booked for 2 nights with aer lingos in june 2025. 12 hours before our flight from Leeds airport aer lingos informed us the flight had been cancelled and offered us a flight 30 hours later which meant we would arrive Wednesday evening and returned home Thursday morning, which was pointless. We rejected that flight and proceeded to try for compensation. We were refused compensation because they say the flight was cancelled due to the plane having a bird strike at another airport. The trip cost us Β£480 and was for our ruby wedding anniversary. I understand it was not their fault so no compensation to pay out but it was also not our fault and we suffer while they get money for nothing.

Technical problems

Let me now put all into full context for you Β  We Booked the Flight Booking confirmed ref (2ACB82) with Aer Lingus BHD to Birmingham on 29/8/2025 at 13,25pm. On evening of Aug 28 2025 @ we received a email advising there was an hour delay in our flight. The following morning we received another email advising us the disregard Β the other email as the flight ( EI3644) Β AER Lingus regional operated by Emerald Airlines will operate as per schedule @13,25 pm. One hour later as we arrived at Belfast City Airport we received a Text message advising Β that flight (EI3644) was cancelled. We arrived at airport with not advice, direction,or assistance to be had from anyone left to our own devices. We then shortly after received an email advising us we were on flight to London Heathrow at 18,30 pm with connecting flight to Manchester @22,10pm with British Airways which is a lite bit away from Birmingham. We took the Heathrow flight as given but found it impossible to check in as you had to do same online and the British Airways site would not accept the Aer Lingus Booking ref no (2ABC82) so after looking for and receiving no assistance at the airport we attempted calling aer Lingus Β which was in India and after 4 Calls to agents whom did not have a clue eventually on fourth call we found an helpful agent who did her best to rearrange our flight but could not do so till Monday Sept 1st 2025 the first available flight but at least was able to give us a booking ref ( ZOOXOR ) which at least allowed us to check in online for the 18,30 flight to London Heathrow with British Airways. We arrived in Heathrow and waited for our connecting flight 22,10pm to Manchester just now to be 00.03 am advised this flight ( BA1406 ) is now cancelled . As the trip was of a serious family nature and the assistance received from both airlines and Belfast City Airport and bot airlines Aer Lingus and British Airways( which I just found out are the same) was seriously disgusting and lacking of anything resembling Customer Care .Β  Let me advise you that someone will take the wrap for this horrible experience that myself and my husband were made to endure today August 29th 2025. We booked a flight Belfast City to Birmingham Β ( Ref 2ACB82 )and ended up London Heathrow with our Manchester flight Ref ( ZOOXOR ) cancelled so who ever is responsible take same urgently as be advised there are lots of receipts that need to be and will be covered. I will now await you very imminent reply as same will put me future direction on the issue and be advised there will be one. We also had Car Hire booked at Birmingham airport for the two days etc now it lost payment as a no show. Regards M/s Julia Marie Mc Grenra , Mr Barry Mc Connell .

We boarded the flight about 30 mins after scheduled boarding. The pilot let us know that the Air conditioning was not working correctly and they were fixing it. Technical problems

Very distressing time. We were checked in, boarding gates open and waiting an hour for boarding to be told then the flight was cancelled. We then were left without anyone telling us what to do or where to go. They then left us waiting an hour to see could they find hotels, which was taking so long we left and went back to our previous accomodation via taxi and had to return the following morning without any offer of food/drink ect. We then had to wait in dublin airport as we had missed out booked bus so had to wait for an available seat on next available bus home. We were also rebooked onto a flight the following morning and we were not seated together and as a very nervous passenger i found that very traumatic

We were not informed of reason for flight cancelation when it was canceled but were instead told flight was canceled 2.5 hours before the flight was scheduled to depart. We were automatically booked onto a flight the following day with no alternative options provided and therefore had to miss a day's work due to this change. We were only made aware that the delay was due to a bird strike after submitting a claim for compensation directly to the airline. The airline did provide compensation for food costs incurred and booked us into airport hotel. We finally arrived in Dublin at 18:50 the following day.

Aer Lingus gave away the seats for me and my two kids (under age 10!) and so wouldn't give us boarding passes, and denied us boarding. We had to leave TWO days later, apparently on the next available flight with three seats. We lost nearly a third of a trip I'd spent a year organising. I have been applying for compensation and expenses for a year -- Aer Lingus claims we arrived late but we did not. The last Customer Service Supervisor I spoke to, Abdul, says the gate closes 70 minutes before departure, and the time stamp on the change fee I was forced to pay (on one ticket, because this was all dodgy) is 55 minutes before departure. We were definitely in the check-in area longer than necessary to have gotten our boarding passes, especially when we were traveling with just carry-on bags. Abdul is also the first - and only - Aer Lingus staffer to say that in fact the flight had seats! They have been disgraceful to deal with.

Travelling from LHR to Shannon on 6th April 2024. There was a weather warning for the afternoon and advised there may be delays. I bought access to the lounge. as the afternoon went on, planes were landing. I was informed by the lady in the lounge that we were waiting for a flight from Dublin to turn around and take us to Shannon. A few flights landed from Dublin, but none were for us. We were told they were waiting for flight attendants. Eventually a plane came and I was able to get to Shannon. The delay disrupted my plans with my family. We had a social event to go to. I was already exhausted because of the cancelled flight 2 days earlier. I spent a lot of money on food in the hotel travelling to LHR and then travelling back, all because of the disrupted flights. As my young son was asleep in bed when I arrived at Shannon, we needed a babysitter, costing an extra 40 euro (my partner collected me). Extra costs over 2 days were roughly 150 euros. I didn't get receipts in hotel as I had to eat crisps and peanuts, no real food available. The flight Shannon to LHR was cancelled with no reason given. The LHR to Shannon was delayed even though the weather warning was over and many planes were arriving from Ireland. We had to wait for flight crew apparently. All in all, a very poor service by AerLingus

The evening before (8:07pm)the day of our direct flight from Manchester to JFK, we received an email. We then had to go from Manchester to Dublin, then Dublin to JFK. Aer Lingus said I was not entitled to compensation despite the flight being cancelled and myself having to stay in another hotel for the night and fly home the next morning. They blamed the airport yet other flights were taking off and my colleague from Dublin was back in Dublin for 16:30 that afternoon. How did his flight go as scheduled but 4 hours later mine is cancelled? I have tried to raise this again and I keep receiving automated updates - this has been going on for months now.

I was scheduled to fly from Paris to Dublin, with a connecting flight to Los Angeles (LAX). Due to an Aer Lingus strike, the flight from Paris to Dublin was delayed by over an hour, causing us to miss our connecting flight to LAX. I was traveling in a wheelchair with two young children, which made the disruption extremely difficult. Upon arrival in Dublin, we had to wait 3.5 hours for our luggage, followed by another 45 minutes for a bus to the hotel provided by the airline. The next day, we were rebooked to LAX. I submitted an online complaint through Aer Lingus’s system, but after more than nine months, I’ve only received automated responses and no actual follow-up. I believe we are entitled to compensation under EU Regulation 261/2004, and I would appreciate your support in pursuing this claim. As a result of this disruption, we also missed our final connecting flight to Las Vegas, which added to the inconvenience and cost.

The flight from Paris to Dublin was an hour delayed due to strikes therefore my two daughters and I got denied on our connecting flight to LAX, after waiting 3 1/2 hours for our luggage get to us, took another 45 minutes waiting for a bus to take us to the hotel that was provided. I have to add I was in a wheelchair with two kids. Give us one meal pass and we had one day delay for a flight to get to LAX. We also lost our internal flight in LAX because of that.

My naggage was not delivered to my destination airport

I checked in one bag from Dublin to Geneva (6 Aug2024) but the bag did not arrive. I was on route to Sion in Seitzerland and had to purchase clothing and toiletries as the baggage was not received until day3 of my trip. I claimed to be reimbursed for my out of pocket costs but Aer Lingus refused, surely I am entitled to be be reimbursed for costs that I had to incur as a result of Aer Lingus failure to transport my baggage?
