Lost baggage in Seattle
Passenger travelled from Seattle but her bag did not arrive. Despite numerous phone calls it has not been located. This was a direct flight so it is incomprehensible that the bag did not travel. The passenger came to visit her sick mother who has since died. The passenger needs her clothes for the upcoming funeral.- Economy

Technical problems
Flight delay time was not updated on aer lingus app. Only saw the delay time when we arrived at the airport. Delayed to 23:45 and then delayed a further time to 23:52. We had to wait in the airport for 6 hours. We got no updates from aer lingus staff in the airport or an apology. We questioned them at the desk and said they said there was a fault with the first plane and they had to switch to a new plane which caused the 3 hour delay. We boarded the plane at 23:50 and sat on the plane for a further 2 hours because of a customer illness. We were already on the runway and had to turn back to airport because of this. We were due to land at 8:40 and did not land until after 1pm in Dublin.- New York-Dublin

Problems at airport
The airline offered the next available flight which was 2 days later on 3 March 2024 or a refund. Contacted aer lingus on the phone and a refund was issued for the flight. Accommodation provided at an airport hotel until Saturday 2 March. In relation to my claim for compensation - the airline has confirmed that the cancellation was caused by adverse weather. I donβt believe the adverse weather conditions impacted Dublin airport at the time of scheduled departure. There was no snow in the vicinity of the airport. Can you please process the claim for Lorraine Hearne in the first instance.- Dublin-Newquai

Are Lingus responded that I was not eligible for compensation We were flying to the USA fromm Birmingham via Dublin. Due to the flight being delayed in Birmingham, We missed our connecting flight in Dublin to Chicago. We ended up being stuck in Dublin until the next day. We landed in Fort Lauderdale 24 hours later than original scheduled. Our Transfer from the airport to the hotel had been lost and then the hotel we had booked and paid for had given our room away as they thought we were a No Show. So we were left with no accommodation. Are Lingus had also lost my suitcase so I had absolutely no clothes to go on our cruise. Had to do a mad dash to a shop near the cruise port to buy clothes for the cruise.- Birmingham-Fort Lauderdale

Weather conditions
Bad weather caused delay. The crew ran out of hours and flight was delayed to next day. They paid for hotel, meal and taxi at cost. No vouchers were given and we did not sign anything. They said that flight delay compensation was not due as it was caused by weather. We argued If the crew had not run out of flight time the pilot was clear that he would have taken off and not returned to stand and aborted take off. Dublin airport did not close and this was due to not having a stand by crew.- Arrecife-Dublin

Influence by other flights
Flight was delayed by 5 hours but there were no problems at Cardiff Airport or Belfast Airport. I was told by airline staff on board that the problem was their plane was stuck in edinburgh on the runway and got frozen over. I have tried to contact the airline through their Whatsapp and Facebook Messenger applications with no success. I booked this trip though a 3rd party agency (Amex travel) that we have to use as part of our business. This was a business trip. Significant extra cost was incurred by the business for the alternate flight I needed as a result of this cancellation. The flight was refunded to the agency/business but when I contacted Amex travel, they said I have to claim personal compensation directly. The Aer Lingus website was not allowing me to do so hence why I contacted them through their online tools with little success.- New York-Manchester

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the poor experience I have had on both my outbound and return flights with Aer Lingus. Unfortunately, these experiences were far below the standard of service I expect as a paying customer. On my outbound flight, the departure was delayed for several hours because of ice on the plane. While I understand safety is a priority, I was shocked to learn that we had to wait an extensive amount of time for a de-icing truck to address the issue. Such delays suggest a lack of adequate preparation and contingency planning for expected weather conditions, which severely impacted my schedule. As if that wasnβt frustrating enough, my return flight was also delayed. From what I can gather, it appears the issue involved a disruptive passenger, though no clear information has been provided to the passengers. While I understand that unforeseen issues can occur, the lack of transparency and communication has made the experience even more frustrating. Experiencing such significant delays on both flights is unacceptable. Passengers rely on airlines to provide timely transportation, and we pay for the expectation that schedules will be adhered to as closely as possible. Delays of this magnitude disrupt appointments, plans, and commitments and reflect poorly on the efficiency of your operations. I have never encountered such consistent delays and poor service with any other airline. It is clear that improvement is needed in their problem-resolution strategies to minimize disruptions and better inform passengers when issues arise. I respectfully request appropriate compensation for the inconvenience, stress, and disruptions caused by these delays on both flights. Thank you for your assistance.- Dublin-Rome

Arrived at the airport for 11am and checked in my bag and was then told by the check in lady that the flight had been delayed from 12:40 to 2:30. I arrived at the BER airport with my two young children on July 19 for Ae Lingus flight to DUB for a connection to the US (BDL). Flight had been canceled with no advance notice. After several calls to Aer Lingus customer service, we worked out an alternative that required me to take a 4-hour train trip to Dusseldorf, an overnight stay in a hotel, and then a flight the next morning to DUB to catch a connection to the US. in addition to incurring costs, the flight cancellation cost my family a day of vacation in the US.- Schonefeld-Windsor Locks

At the Aer Lingus check-in at Belfast, on 4th July, we were each only given 1 boarding pass instead of all 3 for our flights home. We were told to get the other 2 at the βconnections deskβ in Manchester. Our Aer Lingus flight EI 3610 departed Belfast 35 minutes behind schedule due to a βtechnical Issueβ, arriving at Manchester at 08.00. We were told that Etihad connections were in Terminal 2. We rushed there, only to be told that Etihad was now in Terminal 1 (it had been in Terminal 2 the previous year). By the time we got back, Etihad check-in had closed for flight EY 0016, and all Etihad staff had left. The manager at the N.Data office told us that Etihad had closed check-in at 8.10 anyway, and she managed to get our suitcases which had been removed from the connecting flight. The one sole check-in person at Aer Lingus could not do anything for us, save giving us a contact phone number. It simply went to a recorded message, with no option to speak with someone. Eventually at the Manchester Information desk, they managed to get through to Aer Lingus. After many minutes of explaining the situation, and then on-hold for 20-30 minutes, we were told that we had been booked onto the next dayβs ( Friday 5th) Qatar flight at 08.25, and that they would β phone us in a few hours to confirmβ. I asked for email confirmation but they said it was to be a phone call. This was all happening about 12.00pm. By 6 pm we had had no phone call, so I went to the Qatar desk in Terminal 2, only to be informed, that Aer Lingus had made the reservation, but because they had not issued the ticket, they CANCELLED the reservation. At this stage there were only 11 seats remaining on Qatar for the 08.25 flight to Melbourne the next day, at a cost of approximately $ 4 000 each. By the time we got our luggage from terminal 1, there were only 4 seats left. We went on-line and were able to book 2 tickets through British Airways for a 12.55 flight the next day at approximately $ 2 000 each. We could not risk again not being able to get a satisfactory outcome with Aer Lingus and risk being stuck at the airport for another 24 hours. The irony is that British Air had booked us onto Qatar!!!!! By the time we left, we had been at Manchester airport for 29 hours, without sleep, having already been up at 03.30 to catch the Aer Lingus flight. Aer Lingus did not offer a hotel stay at the airport. To cap it all off, by the time we landed at Melbourne airport at 00.45 Sunday 7th July, our suitcases were still in London!! After having a travel insurance claim rejected by our RACV insurance because we were not able to say what the βtechnical issueβ was, we requested an explanation from Aer Lingus of what was the βtechnical problemβ , by email, in order to make a travel insurance claim ( our travel insurance needed this ), but Aer Lingus has not responded after 5 months, and no doubt will not.- Belfast-Melbourne
