Weather conditions

We arrived at Heathrow Airport at 08:20, checked in our luggage and waited in departures for a gate number. Our flight at first showed as delayed for 30mins, then delayed further, then it was "cancelled". We went to the airline desk to be told Ireland West, Dublin and Cork flights had all been cancelled and there wouldn't be flights the following day (Monday November 25th). We were sent to carousel No.7 to collect our bags, but after 40mins of nothing, we were told they were in fact circling around carousel No.3. It was then I was notified that my flight wasn't cancelled but in fact rescheduled to Tuesday November 26th. This was of no use to us. The next available flight was 16:50 from Luton with Ryanair. We had no choice but to book it and pay an eye watering €750. Both my wife and I had work and had to get home as soon as possible.

Technical problems

We didn’t arrive to Heathrow until Sunday 13th 6.20am morning , our original times we were supposed to arrive were Saturday 12th 11:15am. The airline gave two different reasons for the flight cancellation , one was passenger that was injured and another was then a technical fault of the aircraft , so we weren’t actually sure come the end. They just said go collect your luggage and go back to the check in desk they’ll sort you a hotel . Was so unprofessional and very poorly handled. Was abit chaotic and it took from 11pm ( the time our flight got delayed even though our flight out was supposed to be 9pm ) till 2:45am for them to confirm a hotel for us.

No reason given

I took a flight from Cork to Buenos Aires (itinerary: Cork-London-Rio-Buenos Aires) on 23-Nov-2024. I bought the ticket at British Airways' webpage, however the first flight was operated by Aer Lingus. When checking in my suitcase at the Aer Lingus Desk of Cork Airport (flight EI718), the employee told me that my suitcase would go straight to Buenos Aires (second flight number: BA249). Once in Buenos Aires, my suitcase didn't arrive and British Airways responded my claim very poorly. First, they told me that AernLingus cannot send a suitcase directly to Buenos Aires. Then, they told me that it wasn't my fault and that they would take care of it. When calling the call center for updates, 3 different employees gave me 3 different answers: that my bag was at London, that it was at Rio, and that it was simply lost. When it was determined that it was at London, they routed it to Rio instead of Buenos Aires. Finally, I received it on 26-Nov-2024 evening. I had no clothes and no idea where my bag was for 3 days. Obviously, I had to buy underwear, toothbrush, lotion, etc.

Damaged Baggage

I have already submitted one complaint against Aer Lingus because they refuse to refund the money that they charged me to rebook our flight to Ireland. This complaint is about my baggage. Our baggage was "lost" for over 3 days and, when it arrived, my large bag was damaged. The handle was torn off and one corner of the bag was cracked. I filed a claim with Aer Lingus and just received a denial because, even though I provided pictures of the bag and receipts for a new suitcase and the clothes we had to buy as a result of the delay, I didn't have a "damaged property report" which I was apparently supposed to get at the airport in Dublin. Obviously I cannot get that form now because I live in the U.S. I am tired of hearing how sorry they are that I was displeased with the service I received. THIS AIRLINE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS! All I have gotten from them is excuses.

Missed Aer Lingus flight due to United flight being late

Our flight from Detroit to Chicago was delayed and was almost two hours late which caused us to miss our connection on Air Lingus to Ireland. When I called Air Lingus to get rebooked, I was charged a $150 "no show" fee and had to buy two one-way tickets to Ireland at a total cost of $1368.60. Every other airline rebooks you AT NO ADDITIONAL COST when it is not your fault that you missed the flight. I have been unsuccessful in getting a refund for this additional cost because Aer Lingus says it's United's fault and United says it's the responsibility of Aer Lingus to refund the money. I totally agree that this is the responsibility of Aer Lingus but now I am the "monkey in the middle" with no resolution on the horizon. Additionally, when we finally got to Ireland, our luggage was lost for three and a half days and the large suitcase had the handle ripped off and one edge damaged.

No flight reimbursement due to incorrect advice from agent

My partner and I booked Aer Lingus flights for Friday, 27 September 2024 from Bristol to Dublin, returning on Monday, 30 September. When my partner contacted Aer Lingus on Thursday, 26 September to check in online, he was informed that the booking was for himself only. With little time left, another seat was booked. Subsequently, soon after, it became clear that another seat had previously been booked but under my personal email address. I phoned Aer Lingus immediately and explained the situation to a female agent, that I had booked a return flight & had then mistakenly booked a duplicate flight for myself – on the exact same dates & would she advise me what to do. She advised me that my only option was to cancel the erroneous booking but that the only refund I would receive was the local taxes. At no point did she mention the existence of a β€œduplicate booking refund system”. She duly took my details & said that I would receive the said refund for cancelling my return flight. I received the refund of Β£29.65 on 1/10/24 the same day as I was debited by Β£269.65 for the duplicate flight. The cancellation was dealt with by phone and all relevant bank details were taken by that female agent. Later that day (26 September) a staff member who we had previously spoken with, whose name was Mike, recontacted us to explain that as the flight booking was a duplicate and that notification of this had been made within 24 hours of its booking, a refund was available to us, which he said that he would organise but that the repayment of the fare would take 5 to 7 days before it appeared in our bank account. He confirmed to us that it was me who had made the booking (so their system must hold that information) and that he had all the bank details so would arrange a full refund of the duplicate booking. We thanked him for being the sole Aer Lingus staff member who had clarified the situation and had gone out of his way to assist us. We have spoken with several different Aer Lingus staff in respect of this, having waited a minimum of 20 minutes on the phone on each occasion, only to be given conflicting information and have been told that no such refund is possible as the relevant form was not completed within the requisite 24-hour period from the duplicate booking. AT NO TIME WERE WE GIVEN THIS INFORMATION, verbally or online. It seems to us that Aer Lingus procedures are convoluted and difficult to understand, not only for us (the passengers) but for their staff too, who each gave us conflicting information on each occasion we spoke to someone, essentially redirecting us to an online service rather than personally helping us. We regard this as a failure of professional standards on Aer Lingus' part, particularly in providing disinformation regarding duplicate booking refund procedures.

Claim for damaged baggage was refused by Aer Lingus

Bag damaged on 30.9.24. Claim made to Aer Lingus (which was acknowledged by email 3/10/24 -3 days later) within the 7 day time frame stipulated. Aer Lingus refused the claim saying it did not fall within the 7 days as per their policy. Bag tag receipt & photos forwarded with claim. Aer Lingus agent told us by phone to forward a receipt ("any receipt") as the claim form requested original receipt for 2 year old bag purchase, which we did not have. The claim could not be made unless a receipt was attached.

I think we were e hours into the flight and they announced that due to fuel shortage we had to stop in Manchester. We were circling about a half an hour we were circling over Wales. Then they said we had to get off an go into Manchester Airport and we would be issued new tickets as a flight from Dublin was coming to pick us up this was about 3 in the morning but we didn't get tickets until 6 am it was terrible children lying around disabled people no consideration at all. Shannon-New York

Economy

We are a family of 4 travelling to New York,

I recently booked flight 26fn7f from Shannon to New York and from Dulles to Dublin and opted for more expensive tickets with the expectation that my family and I would be seated together. We are traveling with two children under 12 years old, and sitting together is incredibly important for us as a family, especially given the needs of our young children. When I contacted your team today to confirm the seating arrangements, I was informed that we are not seated together, which is very distressing for us. Had I known this earlier, I would have considered other options or booked different tickets. One of the main reasons for booking the more expensive tickets was the assumption that families with young children would be seated together. I kindly ask you to review this situation and help us secure seats together on the flight. This is crucial for the safety and comfort of my children, and I trust that your airline understands the importance of keeping families with young children seated together. I look forward to your prompt assistance in resolving this matter. Thank you for your attention and help. Kind regards, Patricia

Technical problems

The flight was re routed at the las minute as it was due to land in Dublin at 1.30am and was diverted to Manchester at 1.10am we where told it was to refuel. But obviously they should have enough fuel to cover over 45 minutes. Two hours later still no fuel, after 3 hours we where taken off the plane and went through passport control. This process took until 7am to get this done. 4.20am No Aer Lingus staff actually operate in Manchester Airport so we were looked after by Manchester Staff. Standing for 3 hours to check in again and given 1 bottle of water. When we checked in there was a voucher on our boarding for Β£20. When we went to use it all the shops went to wouldn't take it so we ended with not food all night. Eventually we where told that the flight would we leaving Manchester at 09.40am on Sunday the 22nd September but didn't leave until 10.40am. Aer Lingus had to bring staff over from Dublin to fly the plane. We landed at 11.33 on Sunday 22nd Sepember'24. What a terrible ordeal.

Arrived in plenty of time to check in baggage that I’d paid for as shoulder injury prevents lifting. Ground staff refused to put bag in hold as small enough to go in hold. This has resulted in further injury to my shoulder causing great pain. Ground crew ( male) was very rude and really hassled me to go to departures where we waited by the gate for over 25 minutes. I could not manage the airplanes flights with my case and had to get help. Nor could I put my case in the overhead lockers. The steward had to do this for me.

Unwell following the flight

Aer Lingus E10127 Flight Dublin to Toronto. Thursday August 8th 2024 E10127 I was very ill following this flight. Here are the details. While waiting to go to the toilet, another passenger asked the Airline Steward for a glass of water. The Steward (a female with blond hair) poured water from a large plastic bottle into a plastic cup for her. Then I asked for a glass of water. The steward got a plastic cup and instead of pouring me water from the same bottle, she placed the cup under a container of water and opened a tap at the bottom and gave me a glass of water. It was warm and cloudy , but I drank it, trusting the steward and not wanting to disturb the steward any more. We flew into Toronto and arrived at our final destination – Brockvile, Ontario at 10.00pm Canadian time. I slept. Next morning I had a tummy ache and did not feel like eating. As the morning went on I felt quite sick with abdominal pains and nausea and went into a cold sweat and threw up a couple of times. I was sick and weak all day and unable to eat. My daughter Aileen Dunbar had travelled with me. She did not have the water and she did not get sick. It is a good thing that it happened on our trip back home to Canada as I was able to recover at home. Had it happened on the way over, it would have ruined my holiday. My question is why did the steward give me a drink of water from this container that made me sick. What are the standards for ensuring the water is safe for the passengers to drink? Were these precautionary steps taken to ensure that the water was safe to drink. What are the quality control procedures to ensure clean drinking water on the plane? Was the steward following correct procedures? Why did I get a drink from that container and not from the bottle of water? I request an investigation into this matter. What precautions will you take in the future so that this does not happen again. What compensation will you give me for the sickness and stress that you caused me. Sincerely, Eithne Dunbar (75 years of age)

It is very difficult to get anyone on the phone at the airline. I have called numerous times and either the hold time is extremely long or time I was put on hold and then just disconnected. Also, my credit card statement is in US dollars I converted it to euros by using the rate of 1.09 I was sent a text message on the morning that my flight was supposed to leave Dublin Aug 4 saying that flight was β€œdisrupted”. I never received any further communication. It took a local hotel employee in Ireland to call a local Lingus number to get me a rescheduled flight which wasn’t until two days later. That flight finally got me to Newark New Jersey on Aug 6 but then the connecting flight from there was also canceled and I incurred another nights hotel stay because of that. I got home Aug 7, 3 days later than I should have.I still do not know why the flight was canceled in the first place by Aer Lingus.

Very rude crew member

Jamie was extremely rude. I was extremly shocked at his attitude and can only think that something had gone badly wrong for him to be so unfriendly. This is so unlike what we usually experience on Aer Lingus. I am so proud of Aer Lingus and this has upset me on my trip to Paris. Please do not let this happen to other guests on your airline. Don't remember

Before taking off, I heard an impact and then a burn smell. After 1 hour of flying, the captain said that it was a bird impacting before the departure, and that we would go back to Dublin. When arriving, we were waiting for more than 30 min in the plane, until they deciding to move us outside to a terminal. We waited there for about an hour and took another aircraft. When arriving at Vienna, the door system was not working so we needed to wait for another 30 min before they could open it. It was more than 4 hours delay between all the reasons

Strike

Flight was cancelled a week before departure, we had to rebook flights with a different airline at a significant cost to ourselves because it was so close to the departure date. We lost airport parking and travel insurance

My first flight on July 7 was cancelled due to a strike, and I had to book an expensive Ryanair flight. My last flight on July 15 was rebooked by the aer lingus, and delayed because the pilot was late.
