No Compensation for Cancelled Flight

We booked our flight with Iberia in December for a return flight on July fourth, on or around May 15th Iberia informed us that the flight was being cancelled. We contacted Iberia and they said our only option was to rebook for the 5th of July. When we asked them if we would be compensated for our additional expenses, they assured us that we would be. The day of flight we found out that we were actually booked on Level airlines, not Iberia. When we returned home, I filed for compensation with Iberia and they informed me that Level was responsible not them. So, I filed with Level, of course Level denied my claim because Iberia notified us of the cancellation more than fourteen days prior to the flight. I have called Iberia numerous times, and I find no way to readdress this issue.

I was denied boarding by Iberia at Havana Airport on 2 January 2025 for my journey from Havana (HAV) to Casablanca (CMN) via Madrid (MAD), under a single reservation. I arrived at the airport well in advance of departure and had valid travel documents. The Iberia ground supervisor refused to allow me to board, stating that, as a Moroccan passport holder, I required a Spanish airport transit visa to connect through Madrid. I disputed this decision and presented official information from the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicating that I did not require an airport transit visa for this transit. Nevertheless, the supervisor refused to reconsider the decision or provide a satisfactory explanation. I had also travelled with Iberia on a similar itinerary via Madrid only approximately three weeks earlier, without any transit visa issue. As a direct result of being denied boarding, I was left without transportation to my destination. Iberia did not provide me with suitable rerouting, and I had to purchase a replacement Air France ticket via Paris at my own expense for USD 2,379.10 in order to reach my destination. I have proof of payment for this expense. I subsequently filed a formal complaint with Iberia under case reference P20250102-55705496. I am requesting that this case be assessed as wrongful denied boarding resulting from an incorrect determination by the airline regarding the applicable transit visa/documentation requirements. I am seeking the applicable EC 261/2004 compensation as well as reimbursement of the documented replacement transportation costs incurred as a direct consequence of the denied boarding.

The flight Havana Madrid on 15th of July, was cancelled from 1st of June and I never got a notice from IBERIA. By chance I discovered it myself one day before flying to Havana on 5th of July by getting into my reservation. The service center said I could get a refund for the ticket, which I already received on 9th of July. For my other expenses and compensation I should claim further. I did it on 10th of July but still no answer for this claim. My flight to Havana was also cancelled and I have made another claim into your company with the number 687799.

They never sent a cancellation notice. Instead they have sent a message promoting buying more suitcases for the flight to Havanna on 29.6.2026, which I have uploaded to you. I found the cancellation by accident one day before the flight, on 5th of July, by getting into my reservation and after I had prepared everything! On the phone they said they had taken the decision of cancelling all flights to Cuba from 1st of June and they could refund the ticket, which they have already done on 9th of July. For any other expenses and compensation of no notice they said I should make another claim, which I did and I have uploaded their answer to you. The answer was, we are sorry that this happened! I have also claimed for the cancelled flight back from Havana but they haven't answered yet.

We left on our honeymoon on the 26/07/2026 with final destination being Cuzco Peru’ to hike Machu Pichu. Our flights were conectong flights starting from London Heathrow to Madrid, then Madrid to Lima and finally Lima to Cusco. When we checked in our suitcases (2 x 23kg and 2x 12 kg cabin bags) the gentleman dealing with us, name was Chris, white guy, with thick glasses suggested that he was going to work out something to make sure we could get our suitcases straight at Cusco withouth needing any additional check ins. We were quite surprised and asked if he was sure. He made a few phone calls whilst dealing with us to make sure this was the case and in fact on the luggage tags which we don’t have available as they were taken in Cusco to generate our claim form and PIR number stated HEATHROW Lima Cusco. We done as we were told and flew all the way. Arrived in Cusco, our suitcases were not there. We had to fill a claim form and these were not delivered to us until the 30th of June. In the meanwhile we were left with nothing, only phone chargers and. Luckily we had a jumper in the back pack considering in Peru it can go down to 0 degrees over night. Not to mention how stressful this was considering it was our honeymoon and also had to miss out on 1 day of our excursion because we had to go to a mall to buy necessities as underwear, socks, some clean clothes and something that was going to safely allow us to complete the hike. We had also to pay for taxis from hotel to airport and a 2.5hours journey to get from airport to the sacred valley which is the point our treck was going to start and were we were going to meet our tour guide. Tried to liaise with Iberia (Madrid-Lima) and they are saying it’s not their responsibility, we tried liaising with Latam (Lima -Cusco) and you can see messaged previously attached. I called them BA and was told that I should raise a claim with you considering Chris was the person who told us not to pick up our suitcases and re check them in, but to collect them directly in to Cusco. This has contributed in basically ruin our first week of our honeymoon and added additional expenses that we were not budgeted for. Please, could someone help us? Kind Regard Matteo Marino

Both my checked bags (tags XH607040 and XH607042) failed to arrive on 24 November 2025 at Gran Canaria (LPA), the final leg of my itinerary Split–Frankfurt–Madrid–Gran Canaria (Iberia flight IB1601). I filed a Property Irregularity Report at the airport (ref LPAIB64626/24NOV25/0849GMT) and immediately boarded my ship to begin a work contract as a seafarer. As a result I spent nearly my entire contract at sea β€” 29 days β€” without my personal belongings, work equipment and essential medication, unable to replace them except at significant cost. My bags were not returned until 23 December 2025, and were delivered to Bucharest (OTP) instead of my home in ConstanΘ›a, forcing an additional ~280 km round trip to collect them. Iberia's handling made matters far worse. I received contradictory information on every call. Iberia then falsely claimed I had personally collected the bags from Gran Canaria airport two days after arrival β€” which is impossible, as I was aboard my ship crossing the Atlantic at that time, provable by my ship-stamped disembarkation letter and employment contract. On the basis of that false claim Iberia tried to close my case and halt the search, resuming only after I called daily and formally invoked the Montreal Convention. I incurred €656.79 in documented replacement expenses (clothing, toiletries, a replacement suitcase and replacement medication).

I was travelling to Kosovo for a professional football trial. My forst leg of travel was from Dallas to Geneva before heading on to Kosovo. So it was not just a matter of losing some clothes, my boots and trainers whcih are size 48 are almost impossible find in most shops. It has lead to a whole load of stress, lack of sporting equipement for my professional trial and damage to my feet due t the fact i had to use the wrong sort of footware for a part of the trial. Iberia have STILL not got the lost bag to me. The number of emails and chasing has amounted to over 25 emails still with no resolution! I beleive the bag is now in Pristina but we have no confirmation of this and if they are able to transport it to my final destination where I in the trial in Mitrovica. I have an official invication to this proffessional trial signed by the Sporting Director of the club if needs be. Its been a huge mess and stress! The airline has offered no cash allowance Last saw the luggage in Dallas when it was checked in at check in Luggage fees - We paid extra for a hold bag but the booking then says the flight fee includes bags (ie you get an option to chose with or without bags) but it is not itemised in the final booking! PIR filed that has already been downloaded Still no delivery date!

My flight to Madrid from LAX was delayed - causing me to miss an entire day of my trip. On the way home, my flight from Ibiza to Madrid was delayed, causing me to miss my Madrid to LAX flight. The new flight that Iberia put me on was cancelled. I was then forced to stay in a hotel in Valdebedas overnight, then the next day my flight from Madrid to LAX was delayed again. In total, on the way home I was delayed by over 30 hours with minimal instruction or explanation from the airline.

The whole experience had been a nightmare and latam and Iberian airlines have been obstructive and uncaring from the start. My case remained in Madrid until 5 days after I completed my claim. And at one point they sent me someone else’s bag. Their incompetence has been staggering. It was only when I got to finally talk to a latam employee on weds 3rd June and I told them that I had meds in my bag that I needed before my Machu Picchu trek that they took me seriously. Before that I had been communication through WhatsApp and I kept being told it was being sent then it wouldn’t turn up. It was ridiculous. When I finally collected it from Cusco airport on 5th June I was told to claim from Iberia which I did. They took over a week to tell me that I should claim against latam at which point I went over my 21 days in which to claim. They will not reopen the case despite none of this being my fault. I am furious. I hope you can help.

The booking was done with IBERIA for both flights, CCS-MAD and MAD-DUB. The flight from Venezuela landed delayed, the gate from Madrid to Dublin closed at 10 am, and I was landing in Madrid at 9:45. By the time I arrived at the gate, it was closed, and the airline denied me boarding. -What time did you arrive at your final destination? I arrived at 12:30 am on 06/06/2026 when I meant to arrive on 05/06/2026 at 12:20 pm -What did the airline tell you, and when? IBERIA was not helpful at all. They said nothing and said that was Aerlingus's problem, even though my booking was with IBERIA and the flight was operated by Aerlingus -What care did the airline provide, if any? IBERIA nothing at all, Aerlingus booked me on the next flight, but I didn't even have a voucher for my meals. -How did the incident inconvenience you? Having to spend more than 8 hours stuck at the airport waiting for the next flight, already coming from a long, exhausting 8-hour flight from Venezuela, on top of that arrived at 12:30 am the next day.

On 18 June 2026, I was informed by Iberia that my flight IB0155 from Madrid (MAD) to BogotΓ‘ (BOG), scheduled to depart on 21 June 2026 at 00:10, had been cancelled. The notification was received only three days before departure. I was rebooked on an alternative flight departing on 22 June 2026 at 07:05, which delayed my arrival in BogotΓ‘ by more than 24 hours and caused significant disruption to my business trip. As a direct consequence of the cancellation, I incurred additional expenses, including: One extra night of hotel accommodation in Madrid. Dinner expenses during the unexpected stay. I have retained and attached all supporting receipts. I initially submitted a compensation claim directly to Iberia under Regulation (EC) No. 261/2004. Iberia rejected my claim, stating that the cancellation was caused by Air Traffic Flow Management (ATFM) restrictions due to air traffic control capacity and demand, which they consider to be extraordinary circumstances. However, I have reasons to question whether this explanation fully reflects the circumstances. A few days later, on 24 June 2026, my company's CEO was scheduled to travel on the same Madrid–BogotΓ‘ route with Iberia. His flight was also cancelled with only two days' notice, causing him to miss important business meetings in BogotΓ‘ and forcing the cancellation of the trip. The fact that two flights on the same route were cancelled within a very short period raises doubts as to whether these cancellations were solely due to isolated air traffic control restrictions or whether there may have been recurring operational issues affecting this route. For this reason, I kindly request that AirAdvisor investigates the circumstances of my case, verifies whether Iberia has correctly relied on extraordinary circumstances under Regulation (EC) No. 261/2004 and, if appropriate, pursues my claim for compensation and reimbursement of the additional expenses incurred.

No reason given

While on the aircraft and preparing for departure, the captain announced that a tyre warning light had appeared during taxi. Following an inspection by ground engineers, it was confirmed that a tyre was damaged and required replacement. As a result, the departure was delayed while the tyres were changed. This indicates that the delay was caused by a technical and maintenance-related issue identified prior to takeoff, rather than an external extraordinary event. According to established case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union, technical problems inherent in the normal operation of an aircraft β€” including component failure and maintenance issues β€” do not constitute extraordinary circumstances unless caused by events beyond the airline’s control. Iberia has not provided any evidence that the tyre damage resulted from such an external event (e.g. foreign object damage, bird strike, or similar). Furthermore, their explanation referring to β€œdamage sustained in flight” appears inaccurate given the circumstances described onboard.

Originally I was booked on flights from Bilbao to Madrid, Madrid to Menorca on 24/026. When I arrived at Bilbao airport, I was advised that my flight from Madrid to Menorca had been cancelled (flight number IB1723) and I should call Iberia. I called Iberia customer service and was advised that, as I was not contacted about the cancellation, I should re-book new flights to Menorca and Iberia would refund me the cost of the new flights. This was noted under claim number 20260524-73997104. There were no remaining direct flights from Madrid to Menorca on 24/05/26 and I was therefore booked on indirect flights from Madrid to Mallorca (flight number IB1667), Mallorca to Menorca (flight number IB2492). I paid 583.40€ for these flights under booking reference LMHBV. I am therefore seeking the refund of the 583.40€ from Iberia for the new flights - per my call with customer service, I understand notes have been made on file and this should be easily resolved. Any further reimbursement for the original cancelled flight should come from BA as I paid using AvΓos on a BA reward flight, which I understand. Please therefore make payment of 583.40€ as soon as possible. Update: Iberia have now rejected my claim on the grounds of the cancellation being due to "immigration, customs or health controls imposed by the competent authorities". Per the documents attached, this is factually incorrect as the flight flew as scheduled and I flew on other Iberia flights on the same day. It is worth noting no further redress with Iberia is possible as the information supplied on their website is incorrect as it refers to a now-outdated regulation.

I have not received all of my luggage. One suitcase is still missing. The missing suitcase is a TITAN brand suitcase. I immediately filed a PIR report at the airport upon arrival. The flight was from EZE to BCN on 03/05/2025. Since the PIR was opened, the airline has never notified me of any movement or update in the baggage tracking system, nor have they officially declared the luggage as lost. I did not receive any cash assistance or compensation from the airline for emergency expenses. Until today, I have received 0 euros. I did not pay for excess baggage or overweight luggage, and I did not declare any special value for the baggage. The last time I saw the suitcase was when I checked it in at the departure airport in EZE before boarding the flight to Barcelona. I have already contacted IBERIA and opened case number E20260515-73732241, but they are refusing to compensate me despite the fact that more than 21 days have passed and the baggage should legally be considered lost.

Only observable circumstances before boarding were lot of dispute with passengers, who were left in BA due to the overbooking. After boarding, we were just waiting, without being informed why and how long. After take off, flight to Madrid was calm and about 20 min shorter than predicted, but still we couldn't catch connected flight to Vienna. Iberia did provide hotel, transport and meal to us, but we lost good 18 hours before arriving to destination airport. Substitute connected flight next morning also has almost one hour delay, because (according to captain's announce) it took that long to obtain signature from airport service before take off. In Vienna, we lost additional time waiting/searching/investigating about laguage, because it was partially sent with original, partially with substitute flight. Consequently, we were late to ground transport from Vienna to Ljubljana, causing another hours of delay. It was very stressful and physically exhausting journey. Running (literally) in airport at our age of 70+ and history of cardiac decease , is a big deal for us.

baggage claim, no compensation

Subject: Formal Complaint β€” Unacceptable Baggage Delay, Lost Vacation Days, and Request for Goodwill Compensation PIR Reference: PTYIB34066 Booking Reference: NNN8C Dear Iberia Customer Relations, I am writing to formally complain about the handling of our baggage on our Iberia flight from Zurich (ZRH) via Madrid (MAD) to Panama City (PTY) on [DATUM]. I am travelling with my partner and our young child. What should have been a long-anticipated family holiday turned into a stressful ordeal due to Iberia's failure to transport our luggage β€” and the subsequent mismanagement of the recovery process. INCIDENT SUMMARY Upon arrival in Panama City, none of our three checked bags were delivered. Apple AirTag trackers confirmed that all three bags had been left behind at Zurich Airport and were never loaded onto our flight. A PIR was filed immediately. Over the following days, the bags moved to Madrid, where they remained at the airport for several more days. The first bag (purple) was eventually delivered after approximately 72 hours. The remaining two bags β€” a turquoise American Tourister and a grey Travelite (Bag Tags IB979177 and IB979152) β€” did not reach us for over 10 days. SYSTEMIC FAILURES Throughout this process, we experienced a series of failures that compounded the situation: 1. None of our three bags were loaded onto our flight in Zurich β€” a complete failure at departure. 2. The bags sat at Madrid Airport for days without being forwarded, despite our repeated follow-ups. 3. Once the bags arrived at Tocumen Airport in Panama City, Copa Airlines failed to transfer them to Iberia's storage, causing further delays. 4. A bag belonging to another passenger was mistakenly delivered to us with our tag information, which we had to refuse. 5. One of our bags was falsely marked as "delivered" in Iberia's system while our AirTag tracking clearly showed it still at the airport. We have timestamped screenshots proving this discrepancy. 6. Iberia's WhatsApp support connected us only to an AI chatbot incapable of handling the situation. It took days before we reached an actual Iberia staff member at the Panama station. IMPACT ON OUR FAMILY HOLIDAY The consequences of this baggage disaster went far beyond the cost of replacement purchases: We arrived in Panama β€” a tropical destination β€” with nothing. No clothes, no swimwear, no toiletries, no sun protection, no children's essentials, no chargers, no medication. For a family with a young child, this was not just an inconvenience but a genuine hardship. We lost an entire vacation day searching for and purchasing essential items instead of enjoying our holiday. Shopping for basic necessities in an unfamiliar country, with a child, in tropical heat, is not how anyone plans to spend their limited holiday time. The ongoing uncertainty β€” not knowing when or if our bags would arrive β€” cast a shadow over the entire first half of our trip. Every day involved checking AirTag locations, calling Iberia, messaging WhatsApp, and waiting for updates instead of relaxing. Now that the bags have finally been returned after 10 days, we are again losing valuable time β€” this Sunday β€” to deal with the administrative aftermath: sorting receipts, filing insurance claims, and writing this very complaint. Time that should have been spent with our family on holiday. In total, we estimate at least two full days of our holiday were consumed by this incident and its consequences. FINANCIAL CLAIM We have incurred approximately €1,200 in essential emergency purchases over the 10-day period, including multiple rounds of clothing, shoes, swimwear, sun protection, toiletries, children's necessities, and electronic accessories for three people. All receipts are available and will be submitted with a separate expense claim. REQUEST FOR GOODWILL COMPENSATION Beyond the reimbursement of our expenses, I am requesting meaningful goodwill compensation from Iberia for the following: ‒ The significant disruption to our family holiday (10+ days without luggage) ‒ At least two lost vacation days spent dealing with the consequences ‒ The stress and anxiety caused to our family, including our young child ‒ The repeated systemic failures in handling, tracking, communication, and delivery ‒ The false "delivered" status that undermined trust in Iberia's processes ‒ The completely inadequate customer support infrastructure (AI chatbot instead of human assistance) I believe a fair resolution would include full reimbursement of all documented expenses, plus a substantial goodwill gesture β€” whether in the form of flight vouchers, Iberia Plus Avios, or monetary compensation β€” that reflects the severity and duration of this incident. I trust that Iberia values its customer relationships and will take this complaint seriously. I look forward to a response within 14 days. Should I not receive a satisfactory resolution, I will not hesitate to escalate this matter to AESA (Agencia Estatal de Seguridad AΓ©rea), EU passenger rights enforcement bodies, and pursue a formal claim under the Montreal Convention (Article 19). bluecheck Other - Subject: Formal Complaint β€” Unacceptable Baggage Delay, Lost Vacation Days, and Request for Goodwill Compensation PIR Reference: PTYIB34066 Booking Reference: NNN8C Dear Iberia Customer Relations, I am writing to formally complain about the handling of our baggage on our Iberia flight from Zurich (ZRH) via Madrid (MAD) to Panama City (PTY) on [DATUM]. Hello I am Susan Yashimira Leonardo Gabriel with dni 51559514T. I had a flight on 07/13/2022 with Air Malta at Adofo Suarez Madrid Barajas Airport at 11:50. After 4 hours of waiting an employee told us that a part of the plane was not working. So after 5 hours at the airport they decide to take us to a hotel since the flight is going to be delayed. At the airport they tell us from the reception desk that we have to leave at 1:30 am from the hotel to the airport because the flight leaves at 4:30 am. When everyone is at the front desk we are told that the flight has been delayed AGAIN for the next day at 4:00 pm. At the hotel we were given dinner, breakfast and lunch. The next day we left the hotel at 14:30 pm for the airport. Finally the flight was going to be at 16:40 pm but left Madrid at 17:30 pm due to problems with the tickets, arriving in Malta at 20:30 pm the following day. So, since it was a delay of +3 hours without notice and +1500km I deserve compensation because it was incomprehensible how they handled the situation. We were almost 4 hours without knowing anything. I attach my ID, boarding pass, the signs that the company put in the hotel to go to the airport, there are several since there were several changes WITHOUT NOTICE.

Denied Boarding Claim: To: Refly Claims Department Date: April 9, 2026 Subject: Formal Claim for Involuntary Denied Boarding & Expense Reimbursement Original Flight: IB8794 (Madrid to Casablanca) – May 1, 2022 1. Passenger & Flight Information β€’ Passenger Name: Oussama Bakha β€’ Original Airline: Iberia β€’ Booking Reference: HBQDF β€’ Ticket Number: 075-1402500344 Description of Incident and Attempted Resolution: On May 1, 2022, I was denied boarding for Iberia flight IB8794 from Madrid (MAD) to Casablanca (CMN) due to an incorrect interpretation of Moroccan entry requirements by ground staff. The Documentations I Held: I presented a PCR test taken on April 29 2022, at 10:00 (53 hours old at boarding). I am a Moroccan citizen and presented the official Ministry of Health guidelines stating that a 72-hour window was acceptable for nationals. I was also fully vaccinated (2/2 doses), which alone was sufficient for entry at that time. Attempt to Resolve (Iberia Airport Office): Immediately after being denied boarding at the gate, I went to the Iberia ticket office inside the airport to rectify the situation. I explained the official regulations and requested that they reissue my ticket for the next available flight. However, the office staff refused, maintaining that my documentation was "missing" or "invalid" based on their internal (and incorrect) criteria. They informed me that they would not re-route me for free and that I would have to pay for a new ticket if I wanted to fly. Independent Mitigation: Faced with a total refusal to cooperate from the Iberia office, I was forced to find my own solution: Alternative Booking: I booked a flight with the national carrier, Royal Air Maroc (AT971), for the same evening. Acceptance: Royal Air Maroc reviewed the exact same documents (Vaccination 2/2 and 53 hour PCR) and boarded me immediately. My RAM boarding pass (attached) confirms this verification with the note "pcr + vac 2/2". 4. Financial Claim I am claiming the €400 statutory compensation for denied boarding under EU 261/2004, plus the cost of the replacement flight and the refund of the original flight. Replacement Flight Cost: β€’ Amount Paid: 2,129.43 TRY (Turkish Lira) β€’ Exchange Rate (01.05.2022): ~15.65 TRY = 1 EUR β€’ Total Reimbursement Sought for Ticket: €136.07 β€’ Iberia flight cost : 92.10 € Total Claim Amount: €628.17 5. Supporting Documents Attached 1. Original Iberia E-Ticket showing booking status. 2. Royal Air Maroc Booking Confirmation (Paid in TRY). 3. Royal Air Maroc Boarding Pass (Sequence No. 73) with health verification stamps. Signature: OUSSAMA BAKHA

This was not just a delay. It was a complete breakdown of duty of care and accountability: No care upon arrival in Madrid. At 01:40, I was met with no staff, no information, and no assistance. A single overwhelmed kiosk served over 100 stranded passengers. Ground agents refused responsibility. Staff falsely claimed they were "not Iberia" and gave me a phone number they knew I could not use. I was told to wait hours for a resolution while my connection evaporated. Refusal to rebook on the earliest flight. Despite clear availability on the 12:00 service to BogotΓ‘, I was initially offered the 17:00 departure. I had to fight to get on the earlier flightβ€”which was then further delayed. No care during the extended wait. Over 12 hours in the airport. No meal vouchers. No lounge access. No apology. No explanation. No communication. At no point did any Iberia representative offer an update, a reason for the delays, or a word of regret. The silence was as damaging as the delays themselves.

The disrupted flight from Madrid prevented us from boarding our initial flight from Almeria, because we knew that the 4h34m disruption at Madrid meant we would be unable to transit Los Angeles airport, to reach the departure gate in time, for our connecting flight to Auckland, NZ. We only had a transit visa for Los Angeles airport.

I send a complaint to Latam who said contact Iberia which I did. I received an email back from Iberia saying the delay was due to external factors which may affect operations. They also said it was due to regulations beyond the company's control. I can forward this email to you if you give me the best email address. I arrived in Lima around 17.00 local time, but due to fellow passengers missing luggage, did not arrive at the hotel until 20.00 so missed one whole day in Lima. The airline told us at 20.00 at Heathrow that due to a cancellation of their 16.00 flight to Madrid, they needed 14 seats for unaccompanied minors and if anyone got off the would give Β£300 plus Hotel for the night. An hour later when only 2 people offered, they said the problem was sorted by other staff looking after the minors, and we could leave for Madrid. I had no help from any Iberia staff at Madrid, and was forced to stand up all night in a queue up 6am to get a new boarding pass and voucher for coffee and croissant. I then had to queue for another 2 hours at the age of 74 to get to the gate for the 09.55 and got there ar 08.45. Even that flught left 1 hour late and I was exhausted , tired and had swollen ankles and on the verge of tears. I felt totally abandoned by Iberia and fell I should have compensation.

Problems at airport

I have put this in the original claim. We missed our connection flight from Tenerife (TFN) to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS) via Madrid (MAD) because our flight landed on the other side of the airport due to circumstances out of our control. It was supposed to be landing near the connection flight. But probably because of the delay it didn't. We tried to get the flight. We ran all the way there. But it was impossible to make. We had to go by bus, metro and through security again so there was no time. Iberia rebooked us on the next flight. We arrived at our final destination at 22:30 after a 4 hour delay, we lost our luggage and we had to eat at the airport. The airline didn't give us a good explanation. They gave us a sandwich and a drink which is not a fitted conpensation for a 4 hour delay. We even had to ask for it twice. The delay was very inconvenient, because we all had to work the next day and got home late. I was home at 1:30 am as I was supposed to arrive at 9:30 pm. I also don't have my neccasary luggage such as clothing and hygiene products. The service point at our final destination was closed and the website had technical difficulties when we tried to fill in the pir.

Worst Customer Service, Really Rude Employee

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with my experience on flight IB731 from Madrid to Amsterdam on March 29, 2026. At the airport, I was informed that the flight was overbooked and that I had been placed on a waitlist, which caused significant stress and uncertainty. As a result, I was denied lounge access and had to incur out-of-pocket expenses for food and drinks. Additionally, despite being assigned boarding group 3, I was only allowed to board last, which added to the inconvenience. Although I was eventually able to board due to no-shows, I was assigned a last-row seat, further contributing to the negative experience. While I understand that overbooking can occur, I believe the situation could have been handled with better communication and customer care. I kindly request that you consider appropriate compensation for the inconvenience and expenses incurred, such as reimbursement, Avios points, or a travel voucher. Thank you for your time and attention.

Influence by other flights

The delay of the initial flight (Santiago de Chile) caused me to miss my connecting flight booked under the same ticket, resulting in my arrival at the final destination, Munich, with approximately 12 hours of delay. Contrary to what the airline stated in its response, I was not provided with any information regarding my rights, neither verbally nor in writing. I was not offered any assistance, including meals, accommodation, or transport, as required under Article 9 of Regulation (EC) No 261/2004. Therefore, I had to personally cover these expenses, for which I attach the corresponding receipts. The only action taken by the airline was to rebook me on the next available flight at 08:50 the following day, where I was also placed on a waiting list. No additional assistance was provided while I waited for this flight, nor was I given any formal information about my passenger rights. Furthermore, my baggage was lost as a consequence of the missed connection, which further increased the inconvenience caused by this incident (although it was later recovered), demonstrating the extent of the operational disruption experienced during the journey. Finally, given that the reason indicated by the airline (β€œlate arrival of the incoming aircraft”) is part of the normal operation of the carrier, it cannot be considered an extraordinary circumstance. Therefore, I request financial compensation of €600 in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 261/2004, in addition to full reimbursement of the expenses incurred due to the lack of assistance. P.S.: As the airline is Spanish, most of the supporting documents are in Spanish. Therefore, it would be preferable if my case could be assigned to a representative who speaks Spanish.

When I checked my bag in Rome FCO I was told I did not need to re-check my bag when I landed in Madrid. I flew to Boston and waited for my bag to come out of the carriage for 30 minutes until I had to file a claim. I am a college student, so my whole entire wardrobe is in there which has made me have to wait at home, missing extended days of class, since my first aer Lingus flight on 3/22 was postponed to Monday 3/23 with little to no warning. I really need this bag and its contents to go back to school. I had to spend 250 at target for basic essentials and emergency clothes as well. I have not received any part of my luggage and I am missing one bag. Iberia or aer Lingus did not provide any cash allowance. The last time I saw my luggage was in Rome FCO. my carry on bag was checked in at check in since it was slightly overweight. I filed a PIR with a worker at Boston Logan at my baggage claim area. I was told my luggage would be on the next flight to BOS the day later, 3/24 but I called and it said it will be delayed until the 26th.

The flight IB1546 from Tenerife (14.03.2026) arrived in Madrid about 30 Minutes late. The pilot explicitly said in flight that it was because they were picked up at the hotel too late and arrived at the airport too late because of that. That is why I missed the original flight IB0797 to Vienna that was scheduled to take off at 19:55 on 14.03.2026. I ran to the gate but they told me at the gate that the boarding was already complete and that I can't get on the plane anymore. I was rebooked for a flight that happened only on the following day in the morning (15.03.2026). This means the delay was longer than 3 hours, because I arrived in Vienna the following day at around 11:30. The problems clearly happened because of issues with scheduling at the airlines side, that is why am asking for compensation according to EU261 for the delay. The trip from Tenerife via Madrid to Vienna is an intra-EU flight of over 1500 km, that is why I am asking for a compensation of 400 Euro.
