Arrived 24 hours later than expected. We arrived at 09:20 on 07/01/25 instead of the 06/01/25 Airline didn't tell us anything. No staff at Bremen nor Frankfurt was available to guide and provide support. They provided a hotel voucher. No dinner was provided i.e. we had to buy our own food since nothing was offered except breakfast at the hotel. We ended up arriving 24 hours late. Additionally we had to queue 7 hours in the queue in Frankfurt the next day prior to our flight to Windhoek on the 6th Jan 2025 as there was limited staff available to support- Bremen-Windhoek

Summary of Flight Compensation Case Planned Journey - Date & Time: 05-Jan-2025, 01:50 IST. - Itinerary: Delhi (LH763) β Munich β Oslo (LH2452). - Travelers: Myself and three others. - Online Check-In: Completed on 03-Jan-2025 at 23:48. - Booking code - JU2U3B, JRKSFI --- Incident Timeline: 1. 04-Jan-2025, 21:55: - Received an email stating that the Munich to Oslo flight (LH2452) was canceled with no alternate arrangements provided. 2. 04-Jan-2025, 22:10: - Reached Delhi Airport to board LH763 to Munich, despite the cancellation of the connecting flight. 3. 04-Jan-2025, Shortly After Arrival: - Received an email rebooking me on a flight departing 06-Jan-2025, 07:30 IST via London, 30 hours after the originally scheduled flight. This rebooking was done without my consent. 4. At the Airport: - Lufthansa counter staff informed me that I could not board LH763 as my ticket was marked invalid. - Despite my request for help, they stated they could not guarantee my rebooked flight or offer alternative arrangements. 5. 05-Jan-2025, 02:00: - After unsuccessful attempts to get assistance at the Lufthansa service desk, contacted Lufthansa Germany customer care. - Managed to get a ticket reissued for 06-Jan-2025, but they could not accommodate an earlier flight, despite availability. --- Key Issues: 1. Overbooking and Cancellation: - My ticket on LH763 was canceled due to overbooking, even though I had checked in a day earlier. - The lack of communication about overbooking and the automatic cancellation of my ticket added to the frustration. 2. Unilateral Rebooking: - I was rebooked on a flight departing 30 hours later, without consultation or agreement. 3. Lack of Assistance: - Both airport staff and customer service failed to provide timely support or alternative travel arrangements, despite available flights. 4. Disruption of Travel Plans: - The cancellation and rebooking caused significant inconvenience for me and my three fellow passengers. 5. Inadequate Handling: - The situation was poorly managed, with no proactive or empathetic support from Lufthansa staff. --- Experience Summary: - I experienced significant stress and inconvenience due to overbooking, flight cancellation, and lack of support from Lufthansa. - Despite being a confirmed passenger with an online check-in completed, my ticket was canceled, and I was denied boarding. - The situation was further worsened by a lack of clear communication and failure to provide immediate alternatives. --- Compensation Request: Given the circumstances, I believe I am entitled to compensation under applicable flight compensation regulations (e.g., EU Regulation 261/2004) for: 1. Denied boarding due to overbooking on LH763. 2. Flight cancellation (Munich to Oslo, LH2452) without proper notice or assistance. 3. Significant delay and disruption caused by the rebooking to a flight 24 hours later. This compensation should include reimbursement for the inconvenience, time lost, and any additional expenses incurred during this ordeal.- Delhi-Oslo

Hello, The boarding time was delayed and we were transferred to a different gate than planned, Of course the boarding time was later, if I'm not mistaken more than an hour and a half late, When we boarded the plane, the air crew rushed us claiming that we had to take off by 20:00 or 21:00, if we didn't take off it would delay the take off since the landing window in Israel would close and we would have to wait until flights arriving from afar landed first. At least according to what I remember.- Munich-Tel-aviv

First the flight was delayed two hours and the Airline informed me about it. Then soon they informed me that the flight was canceled but they did not state the reason in the mail. Only few days after I applied for compensation at Lufthansa website I received an email in which they stated the reason for cancelation as 'bad weather conditions'. However other airlines were normaly operating the same day on Sarajevo Airport, and even the same time when my flight was scheduled. There was no 'bad weather', otherwise other airlines would have also canceled their flghts. I was there and it was just snowing. The plane was supposed to come from Zagreb to Sarajevo, but it never departed.- Sarajevo-Frankfurt

The disruption happened on my travel back from Berlin to Luxembourg, because of the connection in Frankfurt. Due to the first leg being late, I was automatically rescheduled to the next flight in the second leg (Fra to Lux). The new flight was also late. Instead of arriving at 10am in Luxembourg, I ended up being very late in the afternoon.- Schonefeld-Luxemburg

They have paid for the travel ticket and hotel for our night in Rome. They have subsequently told me that this was due to thunderstorms in Frankfurt that never allowed the flight to depart for Florence the night before. Our first indication that something was wrong was when we arrived at the airport in Florence for our flight. After that, everything pretty much evolved into the chaos that led us to leaving from Rome the following day.- Florence-Frankfurt

The outbound leg of our trip to Australia was scheduled to begin at 4:05 PM on the 20th of December 2024 in Iasi, Romania (IAS airport) and reach Perth, Australia at 12:25 AM on the 22nd of December local time. The airline initially delayed the first flight (IAS-VIE, OS646), then rebooked us onto a completely different itinerary, which resulted in us reaching Perth at 12:29 PM local time on the 22nd of December, with a delay of 12 hours compared to the original itinerary. The airline did not initially state a reason for the disruption in writing. The reason quoted by an airport agent was "weather", and the reason stated in the airline's EU261 rejection was "bad weather at the destination airport". However, based on historical flight tracking and weather data: * the airline did not have an aircraft available at IAS at the initially scheduled time of departure. * the incoming flight which was supposed to bring the aircraft to IAS (OS645) did not operate on the 20th of December * the weather at IAS airport was perfectly suitable for flying, with no major disruptions, at and around the time that OS645 was initially scheduled to land, as well as at and around the time that OS646 was initially scheduled to depart * the weather at VIE ("destination airport") was suitable for flying for the whole day Therefore, this disruption was not directly caused by an exceptional weather event, and is thus eligible for EU261 compensation.- Iasi-Perth

Weather conditions
A couple of hours before we boarded our flight, we could see that it had started snowing. We subsequently received a notification that the departure time of our flight had been delayed by just under 2 hours. Once we boarded, we sat on the plane, waiting to take-off for more than 3 hours. We often received updates over the intercom system telling us that it would only be another 15 minutes or so before take-off, prompting us to keep our seat belts on. This was very difficult to do with a 3 year old and 1 year old, especially knowing we still had another 10 hour plus flight ahead of us. Once we finally arrived at our destination at 23:00pm (EST), 5 hours later than the originally scheduled time, all passengers were informed that not a single piece of checked luggage had made it on to the plane. It was after midnight by the time we were able to secure our car rental, since we had to hang around the airport for quite awhile while they tried to locate the stroller we had checked at the gate. It wasnβt found, so we finally left the airport with an hour drive still ahead of us. Dinner plans with friends were canceled, and we also inconvenienced our hosts to stay up until after 01:00am on a working night in order to let us into the house we were staying in. We had only a few diapers, wipes and clothes for our two young children and only a change of clothes for my husband and I. We also had arrived to a tropical location from a winter one and had only winter clothes and shoes to wear, with all of our summer clothes lost with our luggage. Our bags arrived 3 days later, after we spent quite a lot of money to replace the things we needed while we waited. The airline company provided a print out of how to locate our missing baggage, but there was really no care provided otherwise. In the end, we were completely exhausted and lost valuable time by arriving late and money by not having our luggage. Spending the extra time at the airport before and after as well as on the plane was incredibly stressful for our baby and toddler and for my husband and I. Waiting to locate our luggage and finding a way to collect it later on was also a huge inconvenience. Honestly, in total, it was a complete disaster.- Frankfurt-Orlando

Service check
On October 11th, I was flying with Lufthansa from Frankfurt to Ulaanbaatar with my 5-year-old child. Frankfurt is our transit point for a long-haul flight to Mongolia with MIAT Mongolian Airlines. During check-in, a man, who introduced himself as a supervisor, assisted me at counter number 25. During the check-in process, we were treated very rudely. I had a laptop, a small suitcase (which only contained the laptop), and a women's handbag. My son had a small children's backpack and a small suitcase. These were our carry-on bags, and neither of them weighed 8 kg. However, the agent insisted I check one of the items. He said I could only hold one item in my hands, and my son could only hold one as well. I explained that we were traveling on a long journey to Mongolia, and I had food for my child. I also explained that I couldn't check the luggage because it was my carry-on, but he treated me unprofessionally, raising his voice and stating that he was the one who made the decisions. I couldnβt check the luggage because from Warsaw to Frankfurt, I didnβt need to pay extra fees, but my further next flight will in Frankfurt charge me for every piece, I would be charged β¬80 per item. I explained that these were small suitcases, each under 5 kg, but the agent insisted that I check them. This would have caused further complications for me, as it was a short 2-hour layover, and I would have had trouble retrieving the baggage in time for my next flight. I tried to explain, but he kept treating me rudely, ordering me to choose either the laptop or the suitcase. Please note that the laptop was in my suitcase, and my sonβs suitcase contained clothes and food for the flight. Neither of the suitcases weighed more than 5 kg. I am appalled by the way I was treated, and I feel that I have been mistreated by your staff.

This is the second cancelled flight after the first rebooking of Lufthansa. The first cancelled flight was logged as claim request #393950. Expenses claimed here are the same in attachment for the claim #393950. This claim is to provide you visibility of the second flight cancelled by Lufthansa on 21-07-2024 (the day after the first cancelled flight on 20-07-2024).- Munich-Amsterdam

I have claimed the attached expenses and disruption to Lufthansa. They have replied to me with only a partial refound of the expenses (123.94euro instead of 224.94euro) and no any refound for disruption of cancelled flight as per European law (250euro). All information are in attachments with email exchange with Lufthansa. More in detail, the cancelled flight is on the 20th July 2024. After that, Lufthansa rebooked for me another flight the day after, 21st July 2024. Also this flight has been cancelled last minute with no explanation whatsoever from Lufthansa. Also the second flight was cancelled after long waits in the Munich airport, with no clear explanation to me and other passengers who where waiting in the airport for more than a day at this point. Due to important work appointments, I had to book at my own expenses an alternative way of traveling to Amsterdam to avoid further disruption, instead of relying on Lufthansa again. The alternative transportation is the nightjet train with booking proof in attachment. The second cancelled flight is not included in the claim, but I have booking proof for that as well if helpful to form my case.- Munich-Amsterdam

My connectig flight LH1079 LYS-FRA on April 5 was cancelled a few hours before the scheduled departure due to technical reasons. This caused me to lose my long hault flight FRA-EZE LH510 on the same date. I was offered a flight one day later, arriving at the destination airport on Sunday 7 April. I submitted my case to Lufthansa (feedback number 39685846), but the claim was rejected because according to LH the flight was cancelled due to "operational reasons, that is, related to third parties".- Lyon-Buenos Aires

The airline staff was hopeless to say the least. Even after seeing we are citizens and multiple requests (based on medical ground) for a quicker alternative flight, we were not considered for priority and offered one with more than 12 hours delay, which meant we finally reached our final destination with over 18 hours delay. Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to formally request compensation under EU Regulation 261/2004 for the delay I experienced during my journey on 29-December-2024 from Delhi (DEL) to Dublin (DUB), via Munich (MUC). Details of My Flight Booking Reference: POC3BO Flight Number (Delhi to Munich): LH763 Flight Number (Munich to Dublin): LH2518 Original Schedule: Departure from Delhi: 01:50 am Arrival in Dublin: 10:00 am Actual Schedule: Departure from Delhi: 03:45 Arrival in Dublin: 17:19 Due to a delay of 1 hour and 55 minutes on my flight from Delhi to Munich, I was rebooked by the airline onto an alternate flight to Dublin, which caused me to arrive at my final destination more than 7 hours later than originally scheduled. Traveling with two infants, I requested lounge access at the Delhi check-in counter, where I was advised to inquire at Munich airport instead. However, when I approached the Lufthansa Service Centre in Munich, I was denied lounge access and offered no alternative assistance. As a loyal Lufthansa customer, this was my first experience reaching out for support, and unfortunately, it fell short of expectations.- Delhi-Dublin

My original flight was Berlin > Frankfurt > Taipei, but because the first flight got delayed, I would not have been able to board the second flight, from Frankfurt to Taipei. As a result, in Berlin, they had helped me with retrieving the checked luggage first and rebooking my flight so that it was Berlin > Vienna > Peking > Taipei. When I reached Vienna, the flight attendants told me that the flight to Peiking had already left. The information desk then helped me rebook my flight again, Vienna > London > Bangkok > Taipei. Eventually I reached Taipei at 21:30 on Dec 21. My original flight was supposed to land that day at 6:10, which meant that the whole delay was a total of 15.33 hours. It would be helpful to be compensated for this delay. Although all the flight attendants and information desk officers were really helpful, it was still quite stressful because of the time delays. Thank you very much for reading and understanding all this!- Schonefeld-Taipei

Weather conditions
Time of arrival at Final Destination: 07:50 (CET) on 2nd December. Due to weather-related issues, the Lufthansa flight LH759 from Chennai to Frankfurt was cancelled on 01 December 2024. Lufthansa automatically rebooked me on a different flight from another carrier. Rescheduled by Lufthansa: 01-Dec-2024 | AI562: Departure: 7:50 (IST) Chennai | Arrival: 08:55 (IST) Bangalore - Flight Delayed by one hour - Actual time of Dep 08:41 (IST) - Arrived at Gates 09:55 (IST) in Bangalore. - notified Lufthansa priorly to reschedule before my check-in the flight but no proper response, as described below. 01-Dec-2024 | EK565: Departure: 10:25 (IST) Bangalore | Arrival: 13:00 (UAE time) Dubai - Unable to catch as the connection time is only 30 mins due to the first flight delay. 01-Dec-2024 | EK149: Departure: 15:20 (UAE time) Dubai | Arrival: 20:00 (CET) on 1st Dec in Amsterdam I raised the following query with the chat assistant (as Lufthansa Customer Care was not available to respond over the phone). - The concern was that I wouldn't be able to catch my connecting Emirates flight due to the expected delay of Air India, I notified Lufthansa even before checking in and boarding the flight and asked for a solution which was to rebook me directly from Chennai or other options. - Their response was "You should be able to catch the flight - and you can only contact us back if there is any more disruption after reaching Banglore". In the end, as said, I couldn't make it on time (again not because of me) and I had to stay in the Bangalore Airport without any Lufthansa Officers to contact and go through the booking process on my own to catch the next Emirates flight. Rescheduled by myself: EK567: Departure: 20:20 (IST) Bangalore on 1st Dec-2024 | Arrival: 23:00 (UAE time) on 2nd Dec in Dubai EK145: Departure: 03:15 (UAE time) Dubai on 2nd Dec-2024 | Arrival: 07:50 (CET) on 2nd Dec in Amsterdam The inconvenience that I had to go through (Staying in the airport for long hours, almost 8 hours, with no stay and food provided) even after being precautions from my side and getting no proper assistance from Lufthansa customer care/officers is what concerns me. I have contacted Lufthansa customer service regarding the same and only received apologies emails back for the distress the situation has caused. Therefore I kindly request you to look into this matter and provide proper compensation accordingly. Thanks very much.- Madras-Amsterdam

unprofessional approch
I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding the unprofessional and unacceptable treatment of two elderly passengers at Sibiu Airport on a Lufthansa-operated flight to Munich. The incident occurred on 14 Dec 2024 on flight number LH1665 The tickets in question were purchased two months ago (October 2024) through Qatar Airways at a premium price for the route Sibiu-Doha with transit in Munich. Despite having confirmed tickets, your ground staff at Sibiu Airport: Placed both elderly passengers on standby status, citing overbooking of the flight Attempted to justify this by claiming they were late for online check-in, using this as a reason to deny confirmed seats Incorrectly disputed the baggage allowance, claiming it was 25kg when our Qatar Airways tickets clearly show an entitlement of 30kg per passenger This situation is particularly concerning for several reasons: Firstly, the practice of overbooking and subsequently putting elderly passengers on standby is unacceptable, especially when tickets were purchased months in advance through a partner airline (Qatar Airways). Secondly, the ground staff's attitude and handling of the situation was unprofessional and caused unnecessary stress to elderly travelers. Using online check-in status as justification for denying confirmed seats is not an acceptable practice, particularly for elderly passengers who may have limited access to or understanding of online services. Thirdly, the attempt to enforce incorrect baggage allowances demonstrates either a lack of proper training or deliberate disregard for partner airline ticket conditions. I expect Lufthansa, as a premium airline, to: Provide a formal explanation for this incident Clarify your policy regarding partner airline tickets and passenger rights Ensure proper training of ground staff regarding partner airline agreements and baggage allowances Implement measures to prevent similar incidents in the future Offer appropriate compensation for the stress and inconvenience caused I look forward to your prompt response and appropriate resolution to this matter.- Sibiu-Doha

My flight LH1059/14DEC was 2 hours delayed from Nice which resulted in missing my next flight LH580/14DEC from FRA to CAI. I was rebooked to Egypt Air MS786/14DEC which was supposed to depart at 1555, but it was also delayed till 1600. I arrived at CAI at 2245 instead of 1915. I had a very long day under stress specially when I missed the flight and ran everywhere in FRA airport to find someone to tell me how I would get to another flight to Cairo.- Nice-Cairo

Due to late arrival of the aircraft in MUC this made me loose my connection. I was rebooked to another flight but really inconvenient from MUC-FRA-OTP. After my departure from BOM I arrived home after 30h30 min. On top of that they lost one of my cargo luggage, iβm stil waiting for my luggage since 9th of December. Lufthansa is an absolute nightmare, worse experience ever! Even for the rebooked flights they had delays. Unbelievable!!!- Mumbai-Bucharest

They canceled flight from Malpensa to Frankfurt, then it was rebooked to Vienna, but it was late about 1,5h so I didnt have a chance to catch the final destination flight from Vienna to Belgrade, so they rebooked me again for the morning after and provided me with a hotel and told me that I am allowed to buy the dinner by myself and then be reimbursed. Also I want to be reinbursed on my card with whom I paid that dinner, but they told me that it will be reimbursed to the card of the acocunt that paid the flight and in this case it is a company card since this was a Business trip which doesnt make sense sine they didnt pay for my dinner.- Milano-Belgrade

Technical problems
What time did you arrive at your final destination? 00:30 CET 3Dec2024 What did the airline tell you, and when? "Delay due to technical problems with the aircraft." What care did the airline provide, if any? 75 SEK (EU 7) How did the incident inconvenience you? We had house sitters waiting for us, who had to change their plans, and stay much later to take care of our dog. Did you miss an event or lose money? Spent an additional EU 65 on meals. ===================================================== Dear Mr. Abdedayem and Lufthansa Representatives, This response is unacceptable under the terms of the EU Regulations for flight delays due to "technical issues with the aircraftβ per our Lufthansa pilot. I am willing to escalate the situation if needed. Please find attached evidence of flight delay exceeding 3 hours, missed connection, and arrival at final destination 3 hours and 40 minutes late. We arrived in Lisboa nearly over 3 hours and 40 minutes later than scheduled. We missed our flight connection (LH 6992 with 17:30 scheduled departure, 19:50 scheduled arrival in Lisboa) in Munich as a result. We had to have Lufthansa customer service rebook us on a later flight (LH 1780) from Munich to Lisboa leaving at 21:10, and we arrived in Lisboa at 00:30 Central European time (23:30 Western European time). Dear Sir/Madam, I first contacted Lufthansa, who told me that "The flight you have indicated falls within the scope of Regulation (EC) No. 261/2004, which is addressed to the operating airline, which also has access to all data relating to this flight." So I contacted Air Dolomiti but then they replied that "According to our records, flight EN8072 has been delayed due to Air Traffic Control restrictions imposed both for takeoff and landing. Air Dolomiti must strictly follow the instructions over which we have no influence of air traffic control and the airport. In the event of irregularities caused by circumstances beyond the control of the airline, the passenger has the right to receive appropriate assistance and free rebooking on the earliest flight." Also I would like to clarify that back in July when I took this flight I still had my maiden name "Cernejute", and in August I changed it to Vezon. Thank you in advance for your help!- Rzeszow-Geneva
