Problems at airport

The flight was diverted to Muscat due to the Middle East conflict. Whatsoever, I was told to buy a new ticket with Oman Air and submit the claim for a return those money I spend for a new flight and a taxi to the airport. QA refuse to issue any refunds now. I flew to London on the 4th of March with Oman Air.

Agreed compensation but Qatar does not pay out

In August 2025 we were flying from Malaysia to London UK as we were in transit in Doha we were told we could not board the onward flight due to over booking and asked to catch next flight next day for which we would be compensated. After numerous months we settled on a compensation amount after much chasing from my part. We are still waiting for compensation to be paid and after several follow up emails to chaise have had no response am very disappointed. I would not trust the customer service team, there is no car or ownership. Very disappointed and would not recommend flying with the airline.

Problems at airport

Dear Qatar Airways Customer Service, Booking references: Reservation 1: KDRUPH Reservation 2: KDNQP5 Original flight: Departure: Sat, 21 Feb 2026 Warsaw (WAW) - Ho Chi Minh (SGN) Return: Sat, 7 Mar 2026 Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) - Warsaw (WAW) cancelled (QR971, QR263) I am writing regarding my booking for the journey from Ho Chi Minh City to Warsaw via Doha, which was cancelled one day before departure due to the closure of airspace. I fully understand that such circumstances are beyond the airline’s control. However, the cancellation caused significant inconvenience and disruption to my travel plans. I have always considered Qatar Airways to be a highly reputable airline, which is why I chose this connection. In light of the situation, I would greatly appreciate if you could consider offering a gesture of goodwill - total refund off ticket costs from Warsaw to Ho Chi Minh and from Ho Chi Minh to Warsaw. We are submitting this formal complaint and claim on behalf of two families travelling together (total six passengers) whose return flights from Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) to Warsaw (WAW) via Doha were cancelled by Qatar Airways. The tickets were purchased under two separate booking references listed above, however the passengers travelled together and experienced the same disruption. Our outbound journey to Vietnam was completed without any issues. However, on 06 March 2026 we were informed via the Qatar Airways mobile application that our return flight scheduled for 07 March 2026 had been cancelled. No direct contact from the airline was received and no viable alternative transport was offered. Within the application we were only given the following options: * cancellation of the ticket with a partial refund * rebooking to another date only on flights via Doha, which required an additional payment of 9,313.30 PLN (screnshoot visible in the attachment) All available options were still routed via Doha and therefore did not represent a realistic travel solution given the operational disruptions in the region at that time. We attempted to contact Qatar Airways several times via the customer service telephone line, WhatsApp support and the airline application. Unfortunately, no assistance was provided. On 06 March 2026 at approximately 18:30 local time we went to Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City hoping to resolve the situation with airline staff. However, there was no Qatar Airways service desk available at the airport, leaving us without any assistance. Due to the complete lack of support and the absence of any alternative routing offered by the airline, we were forced to organise our return journey independently. Independent return journey arranged by passengers : Date Flight Route Departure Arrival 07.03.2026 CZ8318 Ho Chi Minh β†’ Wuhan 02:40 07:30 07.03.2026 CZ3911 Wuhan β†’ Urumqi 11:10 15:55 07.03.2026 CZ6015 Urumqi β†’ Ashkabad 22:05 23:20 08.03.2026 TK325 Ashkabad β†’ Istanbul 09:05 11:15 09.03.2026 TK1261 Istanbul β†’ Warsaw 07:20 07:50 The total cost of the replacement flights was: 4609,20 USD 3832,60 USD Total: 8441,8 USD (invoice available for viewing in the attachment) We request a full refund for the purchase of new tickets 8441,8 USD. The replacement tickets for all passengers were purchased together in one transaction. The payment was made from the bank account of one of the travellers. A confirmation of payment is attached and can be supplemented with additional documentation if required. During the period of disruption, multiple commercial flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Europe were operating (for example services operated by KLM, Lufthansa, LOT and Turkish Airlines via Istanbul). These flights were not offered to us as re-routing options by Qatar Airways. In several cases only extremely expensive business or first class seats were available, which did not represent a reasonable alternative for passengers. Therefore Qatar Airways failed to provide a realistic alternative travel arrangement despite the existence of operational connections. Thank you in advance for reviewing my request. Islamabad-Birmingham

Economy

Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to formally raise a complaint and request compensation regarding a deeply distressing experience that resulted in me missing my scheduled flight from Islamabad to Birmingham. On the day of travel, I had successfully checked in and boarded the aircraft. However, I was unexpectedly stopped at immigration due to an issue concerning a protectorate stamp. I was not given any clear explanation at the time, nor was I asked to present my old passport, which I had with me and which contained the required stamp. This lack of communication was both confusing and avoidable. I was directed to locate protectorate personnel, but there was no one available at their designated office. Despite repeatedly seeking guidance from immigration staff, I was dismissed without assistance. I then approached airline staff, who were equally unhelpful and unprofessional. They took my boarding pass and denied any responsibility, offering no meaningful support. Eventually, after significant effort, a NADRA staff member assisted me in contacting someone from the protectorate office. I was advised to submit an online e-form, which I attempted for over 30 minutes. Unfortunately, due to a technical error on the protectorate website, I was unable to complete the submission. This was acknowledged by the representative on the phone, yet no alternative solution was provided. During this time, the boarding process closed, and I was informed via email that I had missed my flight. Additionally, I experienced further distress when airline staff contacted me regarding my bag. The officer on the phone spoke in an extremely rude manner and refused to assist me in retrieving my belongings, despite knowing I was outside the check-in area and unable to re-enter without difficulty. I had to plead with security staff to regain access while being pressured and harassed about delays. Due to these compounded failures in communication, professionalism, and support, I missed my flight and incurred significant financial losses. I had pre-paid accommodation in the UK for April 30, which was wasted. In a state of panic, I booked an alternative flight at a much higher cost, initially with another airline, which I later had to cancel, incurring further losses before rebooking again. I also had to travel between cities to resolve the protectorate issue, only to later discover that the required stamp was already present in my passport. To my disappointment, even on my rescheduled flight the following day, I encountered the same staff, who continued to display rude and unprofessional behavior. This entire experience caused me not only financial hardship but also significant emotional distress. The situation could have been easily avoided if proper guidance, professionalism, and basic customer care had been exercised. I respectfully request full compensation for: The missed flight Additional flight booking costs Lost accommodation expenses Travel costs incurred to resolve the documentation issue The distress and inconvenience caused I look forward to your prompt response and a fair resolution to this matter. We hereby submit a formal claim against Qatar Airways in relation to a delay resulting in a missed connection and a substantial delay at the final destination

We hereby submit a formal claim against Qatar Airways in relation to a delay resulting in a missed connection and a substantial delay at the final destination. Passengers Ms. Noelia Sierra Herrera (ID: [05930669G]) Ms. Cristina MarΓa Ruiz Budia (ID: [14634516F]) On 12 August 2025, we travelled under a single booking on the following itinerary: Flight QR659: Colombo (CMB) – Doha (DOH) Flight QR155: Doha (DOH) – MΓ‘laga (AGP) Due to a delay affecting flight QR659, we were unable to board the connecting flight QR155. Consequently, we were re-routed and arrived at our final destination, MΓ‘laga, with a delay exceeding 24 hours. Legal Basis This claim falls within the scope of Regulation (EC) No 261/2004, as the journey had a final destination within the European Union and was booked under a single reservation. According to settled case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union, passengers are entitled to compensation where arrival at the final destination is delayed by more than three hours, including in missed connection scenarios. In the absence of duly proven extraordinary circumstances, the carrier remains fully liable. In addition, pursuant to the Montreal Convention, compensation is due for further damages. Claim We formally request: Compensation of €600 per passenger under Regulation (EC) No 261/2004 (Total: €1,200) Compensation for additional damages, namely loss of one working day, quantified at €100 per passenger (Total: €200) Reimbursement of any additional expenses incurred as a direct consequence of the disruption, subject to proof. Notice We request a written response within 30 days of receipt of this communication. Failing a satisfactory resolution, we will proceed to escalate the matter before the Agencia Estatal de Seguridad AΓ©rea, and pursue all available legal remedies. Yours faithfully, Noelia Sierra nosihe87@gmail.com

Successful claim

During my return trip from Sri Lanka (a plane change in Doha) on 27 February 2026, I spoke with two managers at Transfer Desk B - Mr. Ashraful and Mr. Sammy, who advised me to submit a written account of the events. 1. Initial Contact and Reassurance On 9 February 2026, around noon, I received a call from a Qatar Airways representative asking whether I would be willing to switch to a Turkish Airlines flight. I explained that I could not make the alternative flight because I do not live in Manchester and would need approximately two hours' travel time to reach the airport. The representative confirmed that my original itinerary would remain unchanged. I relied on this assurance. 2. Check‑in at Manchester At Manchester Airport, I was issued a boarding pass for my first flight (QR 024, 9 February at 21:30) and was instructed to obtain my boarding pass for the second flight (QR 654, 10 February at 09:15) upon arrival in Doha. 3. Denied Boarding in Doha Upon arrival in Doha, I visited several Qatar Airways service desks, none of which could assist me. I was eventually directed to Transfer Desk B. I had arrived early and had two hours before my connecting flight. The queue was extremely long and the desk was understaffed. After waiting an hour, I approached the desk to explain that my flight was departing in one hour and I still required a boarding pass. The agent checked my details and responded rudely, first telling me to β€œget back in line” and then stating that I was not on the flight. This behaviour was unacceptable. After waiting another hour, I finally spoke with a different agent who informed me that the flight had already departed and was overbooked. I was removed from the flight despite holding a confirmed ticket purchased nearly six months earlier (29 August 2025) directly through Qatar Airways. I was also told that my checked luggage had been removed from the flight, even though I could have made the flight had the boarding card been issued. This raises the question of whether Qatar Airways knew in advance that I would be denied boarding, despite having been confirmed earlier that my itinerary would remain unchanged. 4. Rebooking and Miscommunication I was rebooked onto the next flight (10 February at 19:30), arriving in Colombo 11 Feburary at 02:45. I later learned that public transport from Colombo Airport to Colombo city does not operate until around 05:00, leaving me stranded at the airport. The agent informed me that a hotel room would be arranged in Doha and that I would receive a business class upgrade, as a goodwill gesture. At no point was it explained that this upgrade was intended as compensation or instead of compensation (which was stated to me on February 27 on my return flight from Colombo to Manchester by the service desk B manager). This omission is significant and misleading. 5. Hotel Arrangements I was told to wait in a seating area while a new boarding card and hotel arrangements were made. After more than an hour, I returned to the desk, asking what was happening. Finally, I received a boarding pass and hotel voucher. At the airport hotel transport desk, I waited another hour before being taken to the hotel, arriving just before 14:00. I was told lunch was available and that I should eat while registration was completed. I was informed during check-in that I needed to return to reception by 16:00 for transport back to the airport. After an overnight flight and hours of waiting, I had less than one hour to rest. This falls short of reasonable care for a passenger who was denied boarding through no fault of their own. 6. Attempts to Request Compensation Before departing Doha for Colombo, I asked a service desk for a compensation form. I was told it existed online but could not be printed due to the agent not having a printer. Despite spending hours searching for the form during my trip, I could not locate such a form. On my return journey (Sri Lanka with a plane change in Doha), I again asked at a servicedesk about the compensation form and was directed to Transfer Desk B, where the manager, Mr. Sammy, informed me that no such form exists. This contradicts what Qatar Airways agents had previously told me. Mr. Sammy also stated that the business‑class upgrade was provided instead of compensation. This was never communicated to me at the time of rebooking. I was explicitly led to believe it was a goodwill gesture, not a replacement for compensation. 7. Request for Compensation Given the circumstances - including being denied boarding despite a confirmed ticket purchased months in advance, the lack of clear communication, the rude treatment by staff, the loss of a full day of my trip, the loss of my hotel booking, and the need to rearrange my plans - I believe I am entitled to compensation under denied‑boarding regulations. I sent a second email, and I have never heard back from Qatar Airways since then. I arrived at Columbo on 11 February at 02:45

Qatar emailed myself at maltdog@icloud.com on 1/3/26 confirming that our flight on 2/3/26 had been cancelled, the email confirms our booking ref as 8O3849 and it told us to reschedule or refund using the booking ref. The booking ref did not work, their website said it wasn’t recognised, we rang Qatar and it was not recognised. We were stranded not knowing what to do. We waited and we kept trying. After one week we took the decision to reserve a very expensive flight home with Thai Airways. We had to wait three weeks for the flight and so incurring expenses in Thailand. Since returning home, our booking reference still isn’t recognised on their website. We did manage to speak with a representative today who confirmed that we were given the wrong booking reference on our reservation, on our E-ticket and also on the email confirming the flight cancellation. The representative has agreed to refund the original ticket price of Β£977.20. We have incurred much more expenses inc new flights, accommodation and food. We finally arrived in Athens on 30/3/26 at around 10am.

My flight from Maldives was cancelled. Airline said that they were unable to provide any alternative flights for the next 21 days due to closure of Qatar airspace. They also said that none of their partner arilines can provide us with alternative transporation. We thus had to book our own flights (via Singapore and China) and eventually arrived back in New York 30 hours later at the expense of $17,942.

* **Issue:** I was denied boarding on my connecting flight to Warsaw due to the flight being **fully booked**, not because of a delay. * **Proof of Disruption:** My ticket was purchased two months in advance. The airline admitted the overbooking at the gate, moved me to a hotel, and rebooked me for a later flight. * **Entitlement:** Because I reached my final destination significantly later than scheduled due to overbooking, I am confident I am entitled to compensation. Qatar Airways has the full history of this "Denied Boarding" in their system, but please let me know if you require further documentation from my side. Regards, Kaycee Ihekoronye

I am writing to formally report an incident that occurred during my recent travel and to request your assistance in pursuing a compensation claim. I had booked a flight with a connection in Barcelona before reaching my final destination in Oran. At the time of booking, it was indicated that my baggage would be transferred directly to Oran. The PNR did not mention at any point that I would be required to perform a self-transfer or collect and recheck my baggage during the layover. Based on the travel requirements for transit in Spain, I understood that a visa was not necessary in my case. However, upon arriving at the departure airport in Hanoi, I was informed by airline staff at the check-in counter that I would not be allowed to board without a transit visa, as I needed to collect my baggage in Barcelona and pass through border control. Additionally, I arrived at the airport approximately 6 hours before departure. The check-in counters only opened around 2 hours before the flight, and it was only at that moment that I was informed of this issue. The staff then suggested that I cancel my ticket and purchase a new one, leaving me with no practical alternative at that time. This situation placed me in a very difficult position and forced me to cancel my trip at the last minute. As a result, I suffered significant financial losses, including the cost of the original ticket as well as the additional expense of purchasing a new ticket. I believe that the lack of clear and accurate information, as well as the absence of any mention of a self-transfer in my booking, constitutes a failure in the airline’s duty to properly inform passengers. Had I been aware of this requirement in advance, I would have made different arrangements.

This company does not deserve to have a single passenger to fly around - i booked a ticket to go to China for me and my wife through the agency gotogate - i paid hard-earned money for the tickets which was expensive to start with. we were looking so forward to oiur trip and then received a email from go to gate saying that Qatar has cancelled out=r tickets due to the ongoing war in the middle east - up to this point all was OK as i wanted to re-book and still get to China - the lady at Gotogate said that Qatar had in fact cancelled flights to the 15th June so the chances that they cancel a second booking was high - i then decoded to accept the refund so I can buy another ticket - the Agent at Gotogate then told me that the airline company would not refund the taxes that I paid on the ticket - i then argued that this is incorrect and since it was them that cancelled they should not keep one cent of my money - how dare they take taxes from the public when they are cancelling thier flights - this is total robbery and inexcusable - i will go to every social media i can reach and motivate people not to fly Qatar air - they make so much money from the passengers that often cant even afford the tickets and still they keep the people's money without shame - let their government pay tax the taxes they charged me- why should they make a passenger pay whilst he has not set foot in their airplane yet - gotogate keeps telling me is the airline policy and they cant take any responsibility to sort it out -

My flight was first rebooked 3 days later, from the 25.03 to the 28.03. One day before the departure, that is the 27.03, I tried to do the online check-in and see if my flight was confirmed and the airline didn't allow me to do it, saying that my flight had already been taken and my booking processed. Then I called the airline and asked them to check my booking status and they said my flight got cancelled, which was not true because I saw on the airline's website that the flight was scheduled (and now I can see it has been operated). It was probably an overbooking issue. So the agent on the phone proposed an alternative flight one day later, on the 29.04, which I accepted. When I went to the airport, I asked the person at the check-in counter why they had cancelled my booking, if the flight wasn't cancelled, forcing me to take a flight one day later. They didn't know what to answer and told me they could help me.

Subject: Formal Complaint & Claim for Reimbursement – Flight Disruption / Cancellation (Booking Ref: B9IWGB) – Family Stranded Overnight Without Assistance To: Qatar Airways Customer Care From: [Your full name], Booking reference: B9IWGB Passengers: 2 adults + 2 children (minors) Contact: [phone] | [email] Date: [today’s date] Dear Qatar Airways Customer Care, I am submitting a formal complaint and a formal claim for reimbursement following an extreme service failure by Qatar Airways that left my family (2 adults and 2 small children) stranded at Hamad International Airport (DOH) overnight without meaningful assistance, after a prolonged delay and subsequent cancellation. 1) Flight disruption Original flight: QR1050, DOH β†’ AUH, scheduled departure 18 Dec 2025 at 14:15 (we were at the airport from approx. 12:00). After hours of delay and uncertainty, we were eventually boarded, and only then it became clear the flight would not operate / was cancelled, causing us to miss our onward journey to KrakΓ³w. We ultimately departed only the next morning (around 08:00 on 19 Dec 2025), after spending the entire night at the airport. 2) Total failure of duty of care Despite an overnight disruption involving two small children, Qatar Airways failed to provide the minimum level of assistance: No hotel accommodation was offered/provided. No meal vouchers / refreshments were offered/provided. No effective rebooking was completed, despite repeated requests and a verbal/initial acceptance at the counter. Staff were unprepared and the process was chaotic. We were left without a workable solution while time passed. 3) Out-of-pocket losses caused by Qatar Airways Because Qatar Airways did not re-accommodate us properly, we had to purchase replacement travel ourselves: Qatar Airways tickets purchased at DOH (Sales Office / Qatar Air charge): QAR 5,980 Paid by card (Revolut Mastercard) on 19 Dec 2025 at 04:05 (transaction screenshot/statement attached). Additional tickets Ankara β†’ KrakΓ³w (19 Dec 2025) purchased via Kiwi.com for our family: PLN 1,356.51 (invoice attached). Any additional airport expenses during the overnight disruption (food/basic necessities) can be provided with receipts if required. These costs are a direct consequence of the cancellation/missed connection and Qatar Airways’ failure to provide duty of care and a timely rebooking solution. 4) What I demand I require Qatar Airways to: Refund any unused/forfeited portion of the original itinerary affected by this disruption; and Reimburse in full my documented out-of-pocket expenses incurred to complete the journey, including QAR 5,980 (replacement Qatar ticket purchase) and PLN 1,356.51 (Ankara β†’ KrakΓ³w); and Provide a written explanation why your ground handling staff failed to provide accommodation, basic assistance, and effective rebooking to a family with children during an overnight disruption. 5) Deadline and escalation Please confirm receipt and provide a written settlement proposal within 14 days. If Qatar Airways fails to resolve this promptly and fairly, I will escalate via all available consumer and payment channels. 6) Evidence attached Qatar Airways disruption notice for QR1050 (delay/cancellation) Boarding passes / itinerary documents for replacement travel Revolut transaction proof: Qatar Airways charge QAR 5,980 (19 Dec 2025, 04:05) Kiwi.com invoice PLN 1,356.51 (Ankara β†’ KrakΓ³w) Booking reference: B9IWGB confirmation/screenshot(s) Sincerely,

Successful claim

I arrived at GOX for my flight to Manchester changing at Doha, I arrived 3.5 hours early and asked to volunteer my seat in exchange for compensation or vouchers, I refused and was bumped off the flight anyway, I was travelling home with my family who had flown out on an earlier date. We were so shocked at what happened and all so very upset, I had to wait 24 hours until a flight became available, they took me to a hotel and had to go back 24 hrs later, I’m nearly 70, this has effected me really badly and made me nervous of flying now.

Terrible customer support and rebooking handling.

I had to sort out other flight options with the airline for over a week and hours on end on the phone. Time is valuable. and I wasn't able to work since I was extended over a week in the Philippnes. If I hadnt pushed them to rebook me on a partner airline for the 18th they actually wanted to extend me to april 8th. very unfortunate that they didn't try earlier to rebook me on a partner airline. very poor customer service. We pay flights a head of time and get this type of service. Our time is valuable what ever the reason if it happens in the Hospitality industry people get a refund as well its all covered by insurance. I am sure they could have gotten me on a different flight with their partner airlines on my original day of departure. Pitty I used to really like support and recommend qatar to friends and family

Reimbursement of costs because of a cancelled flight

Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing in reference to my flight QR8400 on 2 March 2026 from Sydney to Doha with a connecting flight to Munich, which was cancelled on the day of departure. As I was unable to reach anyone at Qatar Airways despite multiple attempts and no alternative transportation was offered to me, I was forced to independently arrange a replacement flight to Munich as well as an additional hotel stay in Sydney. I booked the next available reasonably priced replacement flight in Economy Class after Qatar Airways failed to provide an alternative. As a result, I incurred the following costs: β€’ Replacement flight: 2,476.76 AUD β€’ Hotel: 269.10 AUD I hereby request full reimbursement of these costs in accordance with the Montreal Convention (Article 19), as Qatar Airways failed to fulfill its obligations regarding care and re-routing. The relevant supporting documents are attached. My name is Amro Hamada, and I booked and paid for a ticket for Somya Shabaan. Her original trip on March 19, 2026, was supposed to take 16 hours: CAI to DOH (QR1308) DOH to PER (QR900) However, at the Cairo Airport counter, staff suddenly changed her ticket without her consent to a 29-hour route: CAI to DOH (QR1308) DOH to MEL (QR904) MEL to PER (Virgin Australia VA689) When Somaya arrived in Melbourne, she was told her final flight to Perth was never confirmed, and she was denied boarding. I urgently tried to contact Qatar Airways support in both Australia and Egypt through phone and live chat, but the system kept kicking me out due to high number of calls. Stranded with no assistance, I had to pay out of pocket to book a brand new ticket for her from Melbourne to Perth. To make matters worse, her luggage did not arrive and will be delayed for 3 days. We are extremely upset about the following issues: 01. The sudden, unapproved ticket change at the counter. 02. The massive increase in travel time from 16 to 29 hours. 03. Being denied boarding in Melbourne due to an unconfirmed ticket. 04. The complete lack of customer support when we needed emergency help. 05. The 3-day luggage delay. We are requesting a full reimbursement for the new Melbourne to Perth ticket I was forced to purchase, as well as compensation for the denied boarding, severe delays, and delayed luggage. Thank you

Problems at airport

On 28 February, my Doha-Amsterdam flight was diverted back to Doha approximately 90 minutes after departure due to the closure of the Iraqi airspace. I was subsequently rebooked on a flight departing 4 March. However, this replacement flight was also cancelled. At this point, no alternative rerouting was offered to me within a reasonable timeframe. As a result, I was left stranded in Doha for several days without a confirmed way to reach my final destination. Due to the lack of assistance and rerouting, I had no reasonable option but to arrange my own transportation to Amsterdam via Saudi Arabia at a personal cost of almost €1800. Under Article 8 of EU Regulation 261/2004, passengers are entitled to rerouting at the earliest opportunity. As this was not provided, I was forced to make my own arrangements. Under EU261 Article 8, Qatar Airways was required to rebook me on the earliest available flight, including on other airlines, not just their own services. Seats were available on alternative carriers like Turkish Airlines (via IST) from Riyadh. Qatar Airways' internal travel alerts indicated a prolonged suspension of standard operations until 18 March 2026 at least, yet their obligation under Article 8 is to reroute at the 'earliest opportunity' on any available carrier. I had to take a taxi to Riyadh airport at 1am on 7 March, a journey that lasted 7 hours. From there I flew to Istanbul and subsequently to Amsterdam. I had contacted the Bulgarian Embassy in Doha and had filled out the repatriation form from the Dutch Foreign Ministry but no repatriation flights were planned. I must say Qatar Airways could have offered me a seat on any flight departing from Riyadh, Muscat, Abu Dhabi or Dubai since the airspace of Saudi Arabia, Oman and UAE was and still is partially open. Instead they kept rescheduling and cancelling my flight from Doha just to β€œkeep me in the system”.

The London to Doha flight was delayed, which meant I missed my connecting flight to Auckland. I was put on a flight to Singapore and then another flight to Auckland, which meant I arrived 12 hours later than expected (arrived at 9am the following day instead of 9pm the previous day) and I missed a nights stay in a 5* hotel which I paid for with Hyatt points. This caused significant disruption to my entire trip and all plans from there needed to be changed.

This claim concerns the cancellation of an international itinerary operated by Qatar Airways (Algiers – Doha – Tokyo / Tokyo – Doha – Algiers) due to the closure of Doha airspace. The disruption occurred without the airline providing a reasonable rerouting solution within a reasonable timeframe. Urgent Circumstances: Replacement travel had to ensure arrival in Rome in order to respect previously scheduled commitments. In particular, the claimant’s wife had a medically scheduled surgery in Rome on 10 March, making timely arrival essential and rendering the airline’s proposed rerouting unacceptable. Financial Consequences Category Amount (EUR) Replacement airline tickets (4 passengers) 8,952.77 Additional hotel accommodation 229.71 Local transport / transfers 59.42 Unused ITA Airways flights 810.63 TOTAL DOCUMENTED DAMAGES 10,052.53 Legal Basis: This claim is submitted pursuant to Article 19 of the Montreal Convention (1999), which establishes the liability of the air carrier for damage caused by delay in the carriage of passengers. The cancellation of the return flight and the absence of reasonable rerouting options within a reasonable timeframe compelled the passengers to independently arrange alternative transportation in order to mitigate the consequences of the disruption. The expenses documented in this claim are reasonable, necessary and directly linked to the cancellation of the Qatar Airways operated flights.

Our flight was canceled and we had to spend 9 extra nights in Phuket. This meant expenses for accommodation and food during these days. We also lost work income for 7 working days. What I can add up, and I don't have all the receipts left, is a total of 5317 euros. For us to be able to have an acceptable situation even after we have returned home, this is the minimum compensation we can request. terrible refund, rebooking options and communication with customers

I had booked my flight prior to current conflicts in the region; made an adjustment through QA (after waiting on phone for over 40 minutes); my confirmed (adjusted reservation) was then cancelled with extremely limited options: either reschedule a flight based an extremely restricted timeline or get a partial refund. My original ticket was about $600; I then chose a different date (prior to conflict) and paid a difference of about $220. Conclusion: 1. the refund I am offered costs me over $200 in unrefunded payment 2. the rebooking option is extremely time-limited and does not address my travel needs 3. Communication with QA has been extremely poor

Overall

Request for reimbursement of accommodation expenses – Flight QR837/QR55 cancellation (02 March 2026)

Subject: Request for reimbursement of accommodation expenses – Flight QR837/QR55 cancellation (02 March 2026) Dear Customer Relations, I am writing regarding the cancellation of my flights QR837 from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi (BKK) to Doha (DOH), and QR55 to Nice (cΓ΄te d’azur) originally scheduled on 2 March 2026, under booking reference 7RAMIR. The cancellation occurred due to the closure of Middle Eastern airspace following the regional conflict. As a result, Qatar Airways rebooked my family and me on a later flight departing on 11 March 2026. During the period between the cancellation and the re-routing, no accommodation or assistance was provided to us. Consequently, I had to arrange and pay for hotel accommodation myself in Bangkok while waiting for the alternative flight. These accommodation expenses concern three passengers (my wife, my 6-year-old child and myself) and amount to a total of €1,024.39 for 11 nights, representing an average cost of approximately €93 per night for three people, which I believe constitutes a reasonable expense given the circumstances. For clarity, the accommodation expenses are detailed as follows: - Night of 1–2 March 2026: €209.29 - Night of 2–3 March 2026: €129.47 - Night of 3–4 March 2026: €99.31 - Nights of 4–8 March 2026: €274.60 - Nights of 8–11 March 2026: €311.72 Total accommodation expenses: €1,024.39 In addition, I would like to point out that the originally scheduled return journey from Thailand to Nice was expected to take approximately 16 hours, whereas the re-routing eventually provided resulted in a total travel time of more than 31 hours. This extended travel duration proved particularly difficult for our family, especially considering that we were travelling with our 6-year-old child. While I fully understand that the flight cancellation was caused by extraordinary circumstances related to regional security issues, I respectfully request reimbursement of the reasonable accommodation expenses incurred while waiting for re-accommodation, which were necessary due to the disruption of our journey. Please find attached the supporting documents, including hotel invoices and a summary table of the accommodation expenses. Thank you in advance for reviewing my request, and I look forward to your response.
