I received a first email at 10:07, which was already 40 minutes after the scheduled departure time (09:20). The email provided a food voucher and stated that the new estimated departure time was 13:10. Then, at 10:29, I received a new email saying that the new departure time would be 11:15. The food voucher was cancelled, and all passengers were immediately called to the boarding gate. However, there was no boarding, and everyone returned to the waiting areas, without any communication from the staff. I received new boarding passes. We entered the aircraft at 11:30, but we still had to wait for a long time. At 12:29, I received another email saying that the delay had exceeded two hours and that I could check my rights. No further communication was received after that. Flight FR2086 actually departed at around 13:30. We had a connecting flight from BGY to Tirana, flight FR8421, scheduled to depart at 15:05. We landed in Bergamo only at 16:50, so we missed our connecting flight. We were only able to get a Wizz Air flight at 21:45. Under normal circumstances, the connecting flight we missed would have arrived in Tirana at 16:50. We had booked a rental car to be picked up at 18:00, followed by a 1 hour and 40 minute journey to accommodation in another city. As we only arrived in Tirana around midnight, the car rental company was unable to hold the car for that long. We therefore had to cancel the rental and pay a €50 cancellation fee. The trip to the other city also had to be cancelled, along with the accommodation we had booked there. We had to arrange a new rental car at Tirana airport and new accommodation in Tirana, which cost us more. In addition, we had many unexpected hours of waiting in Bergamo, which caused us additional expenses for food and transportation.

Waited in line to board. Sign said boarding. Three of us waiting to get on plane when they closed the doors and said boarding was closed because the plane was running late. Lady at counter was very apologetic because she knew we had been in line waiting. No grey areas. I had to pay for taxi, hotel room and new flight to get home late for my dad's funeral because they were running late.

Influence by other flights

The flight was originally delayed to 8.30, then 9.00 and kept being delayed in intervals until it departed at 15.45. The additional claims are for the bus transfer and a boat we had booked along with some refreshments at the airport.

On the 8th of September my flight was supposed to take off at 14:55 Amsterdam Local Time. During the day I got a notification on the app, which stated that flights to the United Kingdom could be dalayed due to interferance with in their flight systems. However flights who would be impacted by this would be updated within the app, and any delay would be properly displayed if the flight got affected by it. We boarded the plain as usual, and went to our seats, however we got soon notified that the flight got delight due to unforseen circumstances, which weren't really clear in the beginning anyway. They kept us updated, but only vaguely, and didn't really keep us in the loop forwarding the information we truly needed to rely on. This went on for at least 3 hours straight, and we only got a next time of departure only mentioned once, which was 21:30 Amsterdam Local Time in the evening. They mentioned the British Airspace got cancelled, so they couldn't really take off and we didn't had really anything else to go by. We de-boarded the plain, and got back into the gate, and then the terminal anex. I also took the liberty to ask the flightstaff of Ryanair about the time again, and this person confirmed the 21:30 time again, so I took that as a refference for the next flight. The most frustrating thing was, that the Ryanair App itself didn't up this time at all - I was fortunate enough myself to keep checking the arrival time with Dublin Airport itself, which stated that the flight indeed to delight to 21:30. There was a brief period within the Ryanair App which mentioned the time of 21:30 but I wasn't fortunate enough to see it, because the flight went through and got confirmed, so you couldn't really see any other detail about it anymore. I was lucky enough to meet a pilot from Easy Jet, who was able to tell another passenger that all of the systems went back online again, and that the airline companies were all waiting in line to get a corresponding flight time to take off. So, I was less worried about the flight being cancelled, because all flights that were still on hold, would take off. I didn't see any other Ryanair Staff that day unfortunately, so I couldn't really get any updates whatsoever. In the Ryanair App itself, I was able to find a time of take off, by searching for the flightnumber, which stated 23:40 Amsterdam Local Time. I found this to be weird, as the flight was still planed for take off at 21:30. We started boarding again, went through the whole proces and waited to be boarded into the plain, however when everyone was checked they stated that the crew for this flight was booked onto a different flight and we had to wait until 23:30 for our flight to be able to take off from Amterdam Schiphol Airport. We went back again in the terminal, waited and finally at around 22:50 we started boarding again, boarded the plain and indeed took off at around 23:40 Amsterdam Local Time.

My husband and I were travelling back home after our wedding. This was supposed to be the end of a very special and important moment in our lives, and our suitcase contained personal belongings connected to our wedding and our first days as a married couple. Among the items that were missing were the shoes I had worn on my wedding day. These were not simply a pair of shoes with a financial value; they were part of my wedding day and have a very strong sentimental value to me. I never expected that, after such an important day, I would have to discover that they had disappeared from our luggage. Even more upsetting was discovering that our wedding gifts, which we had carefully packed in our suitcase to bring home with us, were also missing and/or damaged. Some of these gifts were broken, while others were completely gone. Finding our personal belongings in this condition was extremely difficult for us emotionally. These were things connected to our wedding, to our family and friends, and to memories that we had just created. They cannot simply be replaced by purchasing new items. I understand that baggage can sometimes be delayed or mishandled, but discovering that belongings were missing and that some of our wedding gifts had been damaged after the suitcase had been in the airline's care has caused us considerable distress.

The flight was initially shown as delayed by approximately 2,5 hours, but Ryanair provided no adequate information via the app or SMS. At around 23:00 we boarded, but we waited on board for about one hour without information. The pilot then announced that due to heavy air traffic, the crew would exceed its permitted duty time before take-off clearance could be obtained, and the flight was cancelled. We were then required to leave the aircraft. Airport staff told us we would definitely fly the next day at 12:20. After waiting overnight, Ryanair sent an SMS stating that no hotel could be provided and that we should arrange our own accommodation. We therefore had to remain at the airport. We received no adequate food or drinks during the night. At 07:57, after approximately 11 hours at the airport, we received food/drink vouchers, but they had no value or redemption code and could not be used. I therefore paid €64.15 for food and drinks myself. We were later told that the 12:20 flight was not available to cancelled passengers and that we had to wait for another flight. Airport and Ryanair information repeatedly changed, while the app still did not provide proper cancellation information. Eventually, a departure time of 18:10 was confirmed. My boarding pass was also invalid at the gate because no new boarding pass had been issued. The replacement flight departed approximately 35 minutes late and arrived in Budapest at 21:05 on 10 September instead of 23:40 on 9 September. We spent approximately 24 hours at Palma Airport. We request: β€’ at least €400 compensation under Regulation (EC) No. 261/2004; β€’ reimbursement of €64.15 for necessary food and drink expenses; β€’ an explanation for the lack of hotel, food, drinks and adequate information.

Disorganised and staff very impolite. Spoke mostly to Spanish travellers and had to keep asking them to speak for us in English

Delayed by 5 hours sent eventually to another airport due. Told to get on a coach but coaches were full so no. Put on a coach 1 hour after everyone else left on it for 30 minutes and then told to get off as Ryan air did not pay for it . Eventually put in a taxi and sent to another airport in Spain for flight home

Overall

Problems at airport

We were delayed over 4hrs due to technical problems on the runway we where then notified on the plane after an hr or so sitting there that our flight was cancelled and after 2 hrs wait in line we were told we had to find and pay for our own way to either England or Cork or we could wait 4 days for another flight. We arrived at about 1pm on Thursday the 17th of Sept. We had traportation booked and paid for on the 16th and we missed the 1st night and second morning of our 7 night holiday. We had arranged to go for dinner as one of our parties birthday was on the 16th of Sept (birthday trip) we missed the celebration

Flight was delayed due to the nats technical issues. We eventually took off approx 2 hrs later. When near Reus airport, we were informed that we had to divert to Barcelona Airport, as Reus airport was closing. We arrived in Barcelona airport at approx 23.30 local time. We were then informed that buses would take us to Reus airport. We arrived approx 02.10 on the 09 sep at Reus airport. We were told there would be taxis there to take us to our destinations, but there was no taxis. We eventually did get a taxi at 03.00 and arrived at our final destination at 03.20hrs. We were basically dropped at Reus airport and left stranded there, as the airport was closed. Passage of Information from airline was very poor.

Subject: EU261 claim β€” involuntary denied boarding on flight FR8952 We were involuntarily denied boarding on Ryanair flight FR8952 from Milan Malpensa (MXP) to Porto (OPO) on 26 September 2026, under booking reference N1FIXP, despite holding confirmed reservations and presenting ourselves for boarding on time. Neither of us volunteered to surrender our seat. Ryanair arranged an alternative flight on the next day, hotel accommodation and airport transfers. However, we reached our final destination almost 12 hours later than originally scheduled. As a result, neither of us was able to work that day. Please advise how we may submit evidence of any resulting financial loss for separate consideration. At the airport, Ryanair staff did not clearly explain our compensation rights and directed us to submit a complaint online. We also waited for more than an hour before hotel accommodation was arranged. We ask you to address these aspects of the assistance provided in your response. We request compensation for each affected passenger under Articles 4 and 7 of Regulation (EC) No 261/2004. We did not agree to accept the alternative flight, hotel accommodation or airport transfers as settlement of this claim. We also request reimbursement of reasonable, necessary and documented expenses for meals, refreshments and transport that we paid for as a result of the denied boarding and that Ryanair did not provide or cover. Please confirm receipt of this claim, provide a case reference number and explain how we should submit our supporting documents

Our flight was scheduled to depart at 8:40, and the airport screens said boarding was at 8:15. We reached the gate at around 8:20, but staff told us it was closed and did not let us board. The Ryanair app still showed the gate as open until 8:30, and the flight was later shown as delayed until 8:50. Two other passengers were still waiting for transport to the plane, and we had only heard two boarding announcements. The staff member at the gate said she could not do anything and sent us to the ticket desk. There, we were told we could pay €100 each for another flight through the airline. We instead found tickets ourselves for €140 for both of us. We lost the money paid for the original flight and had to pay for another one. We were also told we would need to pay to open a claim with the airline.

Strike

My Ryanair flight FR68 from Brussels Charleroi to Prague on 23 September 2026 was cancelled day before departure. I contacted Ryanair Customer Service before making alternative travel arrangements. The Ryanair agent explicitly advised me to book an alternative flight with another airline, keep the receipt, and submit a claim for reimbursement of the expense. I therefore purchased an alternative SAS flight from Brussels to Prague for EUR 228.29. I have already submitted the expense reimbursement claim to Ryanair (Expense Request ID 81547421). This claim is separate from the EU261 compensation claim. Ryanair has so far denied only my fixed EU261 compensation claim, stating that the cancellation was caused by extraordinary circumstances. My reimbursement claim for the EUR 228.29 alternative flight is still being processed. I am providing the attached correspondence and documents to show the cancellation, my communication with Ryanair, and Ryanair's instructions regarding the alternative flight. Additional information regarding the alternative flight: When looking for an alternative flight at short notice, I also considered direct flights from Brussels to Prague. However, the available direct flights were approximately CZK 10,000 one way, while the SAS itinerary with one connection cost EUR 228.29. I chose the SAS flight because it was a significantly less expensive and reasonable alternative, and it allowed me to reach Prague on the same day. I arrived in Prague at approximately 20:15, which was around the same time as the original scheduled arrival of FR68. Although I ultimately arrived at approximately the same time, the replacement journey was longer and required a connection. I also had to spend considerable time and effort urgently arranging alternative transportation after Ryanair cancelled my flight. I am primarily seeking reimbursement of the EUR 228.29 cost of the replacement SAS flight. I believe this expense was reasonable and necessary in the circumstances, particularly as Ryanair Customer Service specifically instructed me to arrange an alternative flight with another airline and claim the cost back. The cancellation also disrupted my planned trip to Ghent. Because I had to spend time urgently searching for and arranging alternative transportation, the time available for my trip was shortened. The situation caused significant stress and uncertainty, as I had to make alternative travel arrangements at short notice and pay for a replacement flight myself. I did not miss a specific paid event, but the cancellation nevertheless had a direct impact on my travel plans and reduced the time available for my planned stay in Ghent.

The delay to my flight significantly affected my plans, particularly as my civil wedding was the following day. The airline sent emails every hour informing passengers that the flight had been delayed further, which created significant uncertainty and made it difficult to plan my arrival and preparations. I did not arrive at my final destination until approximately 1:30am. This meant I arrived much later than planned, disrupting my preparations and leaving me with very little time to organise everything for my civil wedding. As a result, I did not get enough sleep before the wedding, which had a significant physical and emotional impact on me. I was also unable to check into my accommodation as planned because of the late arrival, causing further inconvenience and disruption. In addition, only a €4 voucher was provided for the delay. This was of very limited use as most of the shops and food outlets at the airport were already closed, leaving very few options available to me. Overall, the flight delay caused considerable stress, inconvenience and disruption at a particularly important time, significantly affecting my preparations for my civil wedding the following day.

I would like to request your assistance with a compensation claim that was rejected by Ryanair. My flight details are: * Flight: FR7336 * Route: Paphos (PFO) – Bucharest (OTP) * Date: 23 September 2026 * Booking reference: N5REWT * Ryanair claim reference: 81604307 * Delay: Approximately 3 hours and 15 minutes I initially submitted a compensation claim directly to Ryanair under EU Regulation 261/2004. However, the airline rejected my claim, stating that the delay was caused by damage to the aircraft during ground handling on a previous flight, which they classified as an extraordinary circumstance beyond their control. Ryanair also informed me that the incident was reviewed individually and that they considered the circumstances to be unavoidable. I would like to know if you could review my case and potentially challenge Ryanair’s decision to determine whether I am still eligible for compensation. I can provide the rejection email and all relevant travel documents for your assessment. Thank you for your time and assistance. I look forward to hearing from you. Kind regards, Matei Alexandru

Despite the delay, communication was initially prompt and updates were provided in a timely manner\. However, following the incident, they did not contact me again, even after the statements had been submitted\. When I eventually decided to contact them myself, I was informed that sending further emails would result in additional delays to the handling of my case.

Strike

I arrived in Brussels on 19 September after approximately a 10-hour flight from Chongqing. Only after arriving in Belgium did I have to deal with the cancellation of my Ryanair flight FR2956 from Brussels Charleroi to Malta. I tried to obtain assistance from Ryanair, but I could not find an available Ryanair service desk to resolve the situation. I also called Ryanair customer service and waited for more than 20 minutes, but nobody answered. I was travelling alone and had only approximately €55 in cash remaining. I did not have sufficient funds to arrange several nights of accommodation and other necessary expenses myself while waiting for the replacement flight. Ryanair did not provide me with accommodation, meals, refreshments or transport assistance at the time, despite the cancellation notice referring to the right to reasonable care. I therefore had to manage for approximately three days with extremely limited financial resources until I could take the replacement flight to Malta. This caused substantial practical difficulty, particularly as I was alone in a foreign country after a long international journey. I would like my case to be assessed for all compensation and reimbursement to which I may be entitled, including Ryanair’s obligations concerning care and assistance following the cancellation

Technical problems

Dear AirAdvisor Team, On 8 September 2026, our Ryanair flight from Berlin to London Stansted was cancelled. We were a group of three students and needed to be in London by 9 September because we had tickets to attend a Bon Jovi concert. As there was no suitable alternative Ryanair flight, we had to urgently arrange our own transportation. We travelled by train from Berlin to Brussels and then from Brussels to London by Eurostar. The alternative journey cost us almost €800 in total. As students travelling on a limited budget, this unexpected and very high additional expense was particularly difficult and upsetting for us. Ryanair has already refunded the price of our original flight, so we are specifically seeking reimbursement for the additional costs of the alternative transportation, along with any compensation we may be legally entitled to. Kind regards, MΓ‘rk BarabΓ‘s

I booked via Last minute.com. I have received Β£60 from Ryanair. The flight was cancelled and they didn’t have a return flight until Thursday 10th. I had to get back to work and paid Β£165 for an Eay Jet flight the next day. So they still Owe Β£105. I have not been able to make contact with Ryanair directly. Every step I take on the website/help Page they say I am not entitled to refund. Last minute got the Β£60 for me.

Problems at airport

Facts: Flight FR8345 Madrid–KrakΓ³w (10/11.07.2026, dep. 21:40, arr. 1:00) took off ~2h late, then got diverted to Katowice (landed ~2:35) due to KrakΓ³w's night curfew. The carrier's replacement bus info was wrong, causing further delay. Actual arrival in KrakΓ³w: 5:20 β€” total delay ~4h20m. Legal argument: Right to compensation β€” Per CJEU case law (Sturgeon, Nelson, Folkerts, and especially C-826/19 WZ v. Austrian Airlines, an near-identical curfew-diversion case), delay is measured to actual arrival at final destination, not landing at the alternate airport. 4h20m delay clearly exceeds the 3h threshold. Route >1500km β†’ €400 under Art. 7(1)(b) Reg. 261/2004; no 50% reduction applies since delay exceeds 3h. No extraordinary-circumstances defense β€” Carrier only cited Recital 14 and vague "ATC restrictions." Under Art. 5(3) and CJEU case law (Wallentin-Hermann, PeΕ‘kovΓ‘), burden is on carrier to prove: (i) external/extraordinary cause, (ii) causal link, (iii) all reasonable measures taken. Carrier provided no evidence. ADS-B data shows the same flight suffered an identical curfew-diversion 5 days later (15.07.2026) with a different aircraft β€” proving this is a structural scheduling problem (insufficient buffer before KrakΓ³w's curfew), not an unforeseeable extraordinary event. A reasonable measure (schedule adjustment) was available but not taken. Breach of Art. 8(3) β€” Carrier failed to address the faulty transport information, which independently prolonged arrival β€” an obligation that applies regardless of any Art. 7 exemption.

They had a different gate number on the Ryanair app than on the boards in the airport. The gate they had given in the app was incorrect. I ran to the gate and got there at 7.00 (flight scheduled for takeoff at 7.20) and was told they were boarded and ready to leave. There was other people in the same situation as me. Then later in the day, while I waited for my second flight, they did the same thing. They gave the wrong gate on the board in the airport than the app. thankfully I was aware they were doing this and caught the second flight in time. Also, my bag did not make it to Dublin on the second flight and I had to wait 4 days for it to come to Ireland from Stansted.

Flight FR3531 – Palma de Mallorca (PMI) to Eindhoven (EIN), 22 September 2026 Our flight was scheduled to depart at 07:05 and arrive at 09:35. We arrived more than 3 hours after the scheduled arrival time. Ryanair rejected our EU261 compensation claim, stating that the delay was caused by air traffic control (ATC) restrictions beyond Ryanair’s control. However, at Palma Airport we were told that fluid was leaking from underneath the aircraft wing, after which we were transferred to another aircraft. We would like AirAdvisor to assess whether we are entitled to EU261 compensation and whether Ryanair was correct in relying on extraordinary circumstances. There were 3 passengers on the booking: 2 adults and our 2-year-old child with his own seat/ticket.

Hi, I send the letter that I send to Ryanair. This includes my friend Matt and I. Everything is explained there. I just saw that I couldn’t send to Ryanair for the expenses from the flight Girona to Charleroi, so I accidently send it for our flight from Charleroi to Girona. Which we could take.
