Technical problems

We were already at Shannon when the flight was cancelled. Flight was delayed initially 1 hour. At 7.30 it was cancelled. We had booked a car in to park. We drove home last night to Athlone . We can only fly out of Dublin so we had to change the flight back or be stuck in Shannon with no car on Sunday. No hotels or rental cars to be had in Shannon. Booked through Love Holiday who have not been in touch or answered any of my calls or messages

Problems at airport

We were told the flight was delayed until 20.40 & they issued a Β£3.50 voucher then it came over the tanoid saying flight is cancelled so I spoke to staff at the fate and she said no alternative flight can be offered, the cancellation is in my husbands name for us both.

We are having to pay for another 3 days to stay for our 7 days we are going for. I don’t know if Ryanair are changing our return flight without a charge, they are gonna reimburse me with the outbound flight but waiting on it as yet. We have booked first available flight out from another airport on 10-9 . We used cash for a first time yesterday for food and drinks so have no receipts as was never offered even in the airport bar

the flight left on time however a rather neurotic ryanair check in girl had a hissy fit and did not let us board. It all started when my daughter wanted to take hand luggage on board and my husband went with booking papers to show she had. she infact did not but that was not a problem she was willing to pay. I in the meantime asked my husband what the problem was and he told me that the check in girl was being a f..king idiot. At that point she flew out of her seat and snatched my husband baggage tag - she told us we are going to spend the night in jail. when police got involved and they saw CCTV footage of incident they said we were free to go - however girl did not let us board. there is a police report and cctv footage at Marseille airport. when watching CCTV footage wait a while to see footage of her when police told us we are free to go - she kicked dustbin, chair and stormed out. We had no alternative but to book alternate transport to Malta. I have uploaded receipts, however i also expect refund for Ryanair flights. This women should be sacked for your sakes - will definitely not be flying ryanair again, especially to Marseille. Unacceptable over a comment my husband passed to me.

Dear Ryanair, I am writing to make a formal complaint regarding the cancellation of our flight FR8564 yesterday. There were four of us travelling together on this booking, including my severely autistic son. There were also two other passengers travelling with us who had booked their flights separately, making six of us travelling together in total. We arrived at the airport and were at the gate at the correct time, as instructed. We were then left waiting at the gate for approximately two hours before we were finally informed that our flight had been cancelled. This situation was extremely distressing and difficult for my son due to his autism and additional needs. Having to wait for such a long period without clear information or communication caused considerable stress and anxiety for him and for the rest of our group. I was speaking directly with Ryanair staff at the airport, and I was informed that the next available Ryanair flight was not until Friday. This has caused significant disruption to our plans and has left us in a very difficult situation, particularly because of my son’s additional needs. I would like an explanation as to why we were left waiting at the gate for two hours before being informed of the cancellation, and why passengers were not notified sooner. I would also like Ryanair to confirm what compensation, reimbursement and assistance we are entitled to as a result of this cancellation, including any reasonable additional expenses we have incurred or will incur because of the delay in getting us to our destination. Given the circumstances and the fact that I was travelling with my severely autistic son, I would ask that this complaint is treated seriously and that Ryanair provides a prompt response. Booking reference: LOV14789771R Flight: FR8564 Passenger: Courtney Stacey Passengers on this booking: 4 Additional passengers travelling with us: 2 (booked separately) I look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible. Kind regards, Courtney Stacey

We add a 20kg checked in luggage and we used fast track to proceed with the check in pf our luggage in fiumicino airport to malta airport, since the staff pointed us to the machine to scan the qr code to make the check in After the scanning and fillongnup of the forms online we manage to get the stickers for the bag and two strollers of our twins The endinh after landing in malta we only received our strollers but not the check luggage and it was not a very pleasant experience with ryanair, the flight was also delayed and the airplane has poor ac condition our kids was sweating for the whole trip

Problems at airport

The Ryanair app told us, that our flight (scheduled to depart at 17:35) is delayed for nearly two hours. So we waited, meanwhile the gates were changing from 16 to 12 then to 23 and at around 18:30 the flight was cancelled. So we waited with other passangers at the gate for a ryanair staff to arrive and give us some information for what to do next. Sadly nobody appeared, so we had to resolve everything on our own.

We went to the check-in counter and specifically asked the staff member whether our suitcases needed to be checked in or whether we were allowed to take them with us onto the plane. He told us that we were allowed to take them with us. We then went to the boarding gate and were standing in line on time. We were actually there quite early. However, the first time we were in line, a female staff member took my friend and me out of the queue. She told us that we had to combine our belongings and put everything into one bag. We followed her instructions and started reorganizing our luggage. When we went back to the queue, she told us that this was not going to work because I had both a small trolley and a handbag. She said that we had to choose one and that one of the bags would have to be left behind and thrown away. I told her that I could not do that because I was travelling for an internship and had essential belongings with me that I needed. I also said that I was willing to pay an additional fee if necessary. She then told us that we were too late. This was simply not true. We had been standing in the queue on time, but she was the one who had taken us out of the queue in the first place. She then told us that boarding was closing and that we had to make a choice immediately. So I put everything I could into my friend's bag, leaving me with only my trolley. However, she then told us that this was not allowed either. Throughout the entire situation, this staff member kept giving us different options and instructions, but every time we followed one of her suggestions, she told us that it was not allowed. The options she gave us were therefore misleading and did not actually provide us with a solution. At one point, she told us that one of us could still board while the other person would have to stay behind. I said, "Okay, then I will go. I will take my trolley and my bag with me, and my friend will stay behind." She then told us that we were too late and that boarding was already closing, meaning that neither of us was allowed to board anymore. This was extremely poor service. While the staff member was repeatedly discussing and arguing with us about our luggage, we could have simply paid an additional fee if that had been offered as an option. We were also in the queue on time and had completed the check-in process early. We had arrived at the airport and the check-in counter well in advance. Afterwards, we went to the customer service desk at the front to ask for help, but they were unable to assist us either. Overall, we feel that we were treated very unfairly. We followed the instructions we were given, we arrived on time, and we were willing to pay for any additional baggage if necessary. Instead, we were repeatedly given conflicting information and ultimately denied boarding.

Problems at airport

Received email that Flight was cancelled 45 mins before flight departure. Went to help desk at airport and spoke to staff who said no other option but to claim a refund and try and book another flight. Had to book with Easyjet (competitor to Ryanair who I had the original cancelled flight with) out of pocket. Only offer for hotel was to book myself out of pocket.

Claim escalated to airline

No reason given

We were awaiting to board our flight at 5.10am. The flight was due to depart at 5.45am. The time came and went. We were still waiting inside the airport at the scheduled time for take off. Somebody from Ryan Air appeared at around 6.30am and advised that there was a problem with the aircraft and engineers were attending. They advised they didn't know how long the issue would take to resolve. We were handed sheets on how to make a compensation claim. We didn't receive regular updates. We were delayed 5 hours and 6 minutes before boarding commenced. We were given only 4 euros each to buy food/drink which we had to ask for. Staff didn't seem very helpful. We had been up since 1.30am to make this flight. We were stuck at the boarding gates on very uncomfortable chairs. We were advised to keep checking the Ryan air app for updates. Not everybody has these apps.

Claim escalated to airline

No reason given

The original departure time was at 22:35, we took off at 4:30AM. They first postponed it to 1:25, when the time for boarding arrived, they changed in on the screen to around 2AM, and when the boarding time arrived again they changed it again, and like that until 4AM. Furthermore, there was a complete lack of adequate assistance and communication from Ryanair staff. There was virtually no Ryanair staff available to assist passengers at the airport, leaving us without proper information, guidance, or support while the departure time was repeatedly delayed. The situation gave the clear impression that the departure time was being continuously changed without passengers being provided with any reliable, transparent, or consistent explanation. Even more concerning, it was apparent that Ryanair was already aware that passengers would not be able to board before 4:00 AM, as there was literally no Ryanair staff present at the airport until that time. Despite this, passengers were left waiting for hours without adequate assistance or clear communication regarding the actual situation or when boarding would realistically take place. This lack of organisation and communication was completely unacceptable and caused unnecessary stress and inconvenience to passengers who were already facing a significant disruption to their journey.

I arrive at the airport, more than two hours as I was told on the app the previous night that my passport was unable to be scanned due to the fact that I do not have a European chip. Upon my arrival,at the airport I was told that I had to pay 55 euros due my inability to check in on time, despite showing proof of my difficulties the previous night. How am I supposed to check in on the Ryan air app if it only valid for passports that have chips ?

Subject: Formal complaint – denied boarding, booking ref [REF], flight FR[###], [DATE] Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing to make a formal complaint about the treatment my family and I received at [DEPARTURE AIRPORT] on [DATE], in connection with flight FR[###] to [DESTINATION], booking reference [REF]. We were a party of eight, including my father (82), my mother (72) and an 18-month-old infant. Check-in Two members of our party travel on passports that require document verification at the desk, so we were unable to complete online check-in. On arrival I asked your ground staff twice whether we should join the queue on the right, which appeared to be the correct queue for passengers requiring document checks. On both occasions we were told to stay where we were. We queued for approximately one hour and, only when we reached the front, were told that we had been in the wrong queue the entire time. This was the direct result of incorrect instructions from your own staff, and a member of your team witnessed the exchange. The agent who dealt with us was, in my view, unnecessarily rude throughout. Airport check-in fee When we were finally processed, the agent appeared unfamiliar with the procedure and took a considerable time to issue eight boarding passes. I was then charged EUR 210 as an airport check-in fee. I dispute this charge in full. We were unable to check in online precisely because your own process requires this document verification to be completed at the airport. Charging a fee for a step we were never permitted to complete online is unfair, and I request a full refund. Denied boarding and failure to provide assistance By the time our boarding passes were issued, very little time remained. My father has pulmonary fibrosis and cannot walk quickly or far. No assistance of any kind was offered, despite his evident difficulty. We nonetheless reached the gate, where we were refused permission to board. Despite explaining the circumstances at length, we were not allowed to travel. Aftermath We remained at your desk until approximately 01:00 seeking assistance. We were refused any compensation, re-routing or accommodation. I was told the refusal was because we had argued with your staff, and that we are banned from flying with Ryanair permanently. I ask you to confirm in writing whether any such ban has in fact been recorded against us and on what basis. Our checked bags had been removed and left unattended on the ground floor of the terminal. It took us until around 01:00 to locate them. Costs incurred - Hotel booking in [CITY], forfeited as a no-show: [AMOUNT] - Car hire (Hertz): [AMOUNT] - Replacement accommodation: [AMOUNT] - Replacement travel to London via Amsterdam at peak-season fares: [AMOUNT] Receipts for each are attached. What I am asking for 1. A full refund of the EUR 210 airport check-in fee. 2. Denied boarding compensation under Regulation (EC) 261/2004. We presented ourselves for check-in within the required time, and the delay that followed was caused by your staff's incorrect instructions, not by us. 3. Reimbursement of the consequential costs itemised above and evidenced by the attached receipts. 4. A written explanation of the failure to provide assistance to a passenger with reduced mobility, contrary to Regulation (EC) 1107/2006. 5. Written confirmation of whether any ban has been applied to me or to any member of my party, and on what grounds. This journey was arranged so that my elderly parents could travel with their family, and the way it was handled has caused them real distress as well as significant expense. I would be grateful for a substantive response within 14 days. If I do not receive one, I will refer the matter to the relevant alternative dispute resolution scheme and to the national enforcement body for air passenger rights. Yours faithfully, Utba [SURNAME] [EMAIL] | [PHONE] Booking reference: [REF]

The flight was scheduled for July 26 at 10:55 PM; just as we were supposed to take off, we were informed of a one-hour delay, only to be told shortly after that the flight would actually depart the next morning at 8:00 AM. Unfortunately, there was another delay the next dayβ€”one we received absolutely no notification about! Ultimately, the plane took off around 9:10 AM on July 27. The only information we got was that the flight was delayed; no reasons were given, and it seemed like no one knew why. The plane had been closed up, and the next day we simply boarded the same aircraft as if nothing had happened. The airline provided no accommodationβ€”not even a bottle of water. Everyone from the delayed flight spent the night on the cold airport floor. I have had back problems ever since that day and have already undergone physiotherapy.

We were denied boarding on our Ryanair flight from Bucharest (OTP) to London Stansted because we did not have a notarized declaration from the father for the 16-year-old passenger travelling with her mother. We applied through Ryanair and TUI but they said there was no compensation due to weather. We know for a fact that the weather was only a portion of the delay as the staff at the gate confirmed there was no crew onboard as we needed to wait for another Ryanair flight to land so the crew can swap plane and man our flight. I feel just washing their hands with this is unacceptable and compensation is required for a 5 hour delay They offered a voucher for snacks but this was given to all passengers after we went through security and the voucher was only eligible before security. The gates and app for Ryanair updates were very very slow and they swapped gates multiple times forcing passengers to move around an empty airport at 1am - 4am

So, the flight was delayed by more than an hour or two (I can’t recall the exact timing), and we found out about the delay only once we were already at the airport, through a push notification from the airline’s app. It wasn’t even shown on the airport screens. What about the passengers who don’t have the app or a smartphone. There was another flight departing from our gate, so there were no free spaces left. Because of this, some of us moved to the next gates to wait for the delayed flight. We came back to our original gate about 35–40 minutes before the delayed departure time, but we were not allowed to board because the staff said that boarding was already closed. At that point, there was still more than half an hour until the delayed flight’s actual departure. The staff were extremely rude and did not seem to care that 6–8 of us were there on time but had moved to another gate because our flight had been delayed and another flight was using our gate. Some of us tried to explain the situation and negotiate, pointing out that there was still plenty of time to board. However, they said they did not have staff available to take us to the aircraft and directed us to a β€œmanager,” who was outside at the airport entrance. Once we left the secure area, we could not get back in. There was no other solution offered despite our attempts to argue, discuss the situation, and explain what had happened. We then went to the Ryanair office/corner, where we experienced the same level of rudeness and lack of concern. The only β€œsolution” they offered, as far as I remember, was a discount on the next flight. I believe they offered a €140 flight for around €80. Some of us accepted this option, but I resisted and stayed together with another Ukrainian passenger (I have his contact details if needed). We eventually purchased tickets with Condor (ticket attached), a flight to a different city in Germany, even though this was obviously not what we wanted. Then had to travel from Dusseldorf to Hamburg via train. and instead of morning I arrived evening-ish. Afterwards, I remember communicating with Ryanair about the situation, but there was, of course, no response or resolution. I could no longer find that communication or the ticket reservation, probably because I was communicating through my old student email address, which I no longer have access to. So couple of days ago I contacted Ryanair and asked them to provide me with my travel history. This is how I retrieved the booking information, and I have attached a screenshot of it.

Influence by other flights

The flight was initially delayed in Reus, we got a notification saying there was a technical issue with the aircraft and another one was coming. We were then told the flight from Reus was cancelled as there was missed curfew or something to that effect and we would have to get a coach to Barcelona to fly home from there. It was approx 8 hours of a delay. When I applied for compensation with Ryanair they are now saying it was a disruptive passenger, there was no mention of this before. They are refusing the claim

Formal Complaint and Request for Reimbursement – Missed Flight on 29 August 2026 – Booking QYL43B I am writing to make a formal complaint regarding our flight to Helsinki from London Stansted Airport on 29 August 2026, booking reference QYL43B. There were six family members travelling together, including my elderly parents, who are over 70 years old and have difficulty walking quickly due to their age. Our scheduled departure time was 13:10. We arrived at Stansted Airport at approximately 10:00, more than three hours before departure. We completed security checks and entered the main departure waiting area well in advance. We waited for the gate number to be displayed. The gate was eventually displayed at approximately 12:18, showing Gate 87. Because Gate 87 was a considerable distance from the main waiting area, and because we were travelling with elderly parents who cannot walk quickly, it took us approximately 30 minutes to reach the gate. We arrived at Gate 87 at approximately 12:50. A Ryanair staff member then told us that the gate had already closed at approximately 12:40 and that we could no longer board the aircraft. We explained our circumstances several times and respectfully requested that we be allowed to board, particularly because the aircraft was still at the gate and we were travelling with elderly parents. Unfortunately, our request was refused. We subsequently found out that Ryanair customer service was located between Gates 40 and 41. We had to walk back a considerable distance from Gate 87 with our elderly parents, which was extremely difficult and distressing. We then waited in the customer-service queue for more than 30 minutes. We were informed that Ryanair could not provide us with another flight until Sunday, 30 August. This completely disrupted our holiday plans. We had already booked accommodation in Helsinki and faced losing money on our hotel and other arrangements. As we could not wait until the following day, we had no practical alternative but to purchase replacement flights from London Heathrow to Helsinki on the same day. The replacement flights cost approximately Β£1,200, and we also paid approximately Β£150 for transportation from Stansted to Heathrow. Our additional expenditure was therefore approximately Β£1,350. This incident caused significant financial loss, stress, inconvenience and embarrassment to all six members of our family. It was particularly distressing for our elderly parents, who had already travelled through the airport and then had to walk considerable distances between the gates and customer-service area. I understand that airlines have boarding and gate-closing procedures. However, I ask Ryanair to carefully consider the circumstances of our case. We were at the airport more than three hours before departure, had completed security, remained inside the airport waiting for the gate information, and proceeded towards the gate as soon as the gate number was displayed. I therefore formally request that Ryanair reimburse us for the reasonable additional costs of approximately Β£1,350 incurred as a direct result of this incident, including: Replacement flights: approximately Β£1,200 Transportation from Stansted to Heathrow: approximately Β£150 Any other reasonable and documented losses arising from this incident. I also request that Ryanair investigate the matter fully, including the time Gate 87 was announced, the gate-opening and gate-closing records, and any available airport/Ryanair records showing when passengers were expected to proceed to the gate. We have retained all six boarding passes, our booking confirmation and receipts for the replacement flights and transportation. We can provide these documents as evidence if required. Our Ryanair booking reference is QYL43B. I would appreciate a written response to this formal complaint and reimbursement request. I hope Ryanair will take into account the exceptional circumstances, particularly the presence of elderly passengers, and resolve this matter fairly. My flight was at 21:30 and my flight was firmly delayed to 23:40 and then to 1:30 and then to 6:15, when that happen I had to leave the airport and go to the Ryanair help center and they gave me a paper for me to ask for a compensation, and had to sleep in the airport because u guys didn't gave an hotel so I hade to miss a very importante meeting and other things, so I was really penalized everywhere.

From: Valentina Flat 7 Sherard Mansion , 46 Well Hall Rd London, SE96SQ Vz.valezero@gmail.com / +44 7551438778 To: Ryanair DAC Airside Business Park Swords, Co. Dublin, Ireland Subject: Formal Letter Before Action – EU261/2004 Compensation Claim – Flight FR6486, 21 June 2026 Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing as a passenger on flight FR6486, operated by Ryanair on 21 June 2026 on the route Perugia (PEG) – London Stansted (STN), with a scheduled departure time of 17:30. Statement of Facts The flight was subject to successive delays, communicated by the airline as follows: First delay notification: 21:00 Second delay notification: 22:00 Third delay notification: 22:40 Actual departure: 23:30 circa The total departure delay amounted to over 6 hours beyond the originally scheduled time. Ryanair communicated that the cause of the delay was adverse weather conditions. I formally dispute this assertion for the following reasons: Meteorological data available for 21 June 2026 at both Perugia and London Stansted airports shows no exceptional or extraordinary conditions that could have prevented the operation of the flight. Perugia experienced isolated afternoon showers typical of a summer heatwave; London Stansted recorded just 0.3 mm of rainfall with moderate winds. Upon departure, the flight captain announced to passengers that the delay was caused by technical issues with the aircraft, with no reference whatsoever to weather conditions. This statement directly contradicts the explanation provided by the airline. Ordinary technical faults do not constitute an "extraordinary circumstance" under Regulation EC 261/2004, as established by the settled case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union (Case C-549/07, Wallentin-Hermann v. Alitalia). Formal Demands I hereby formally demand that Ryanair DAC: Pay the total statutory compensation of €250 pursuant to Article 7 of Regulation EC 261/2004, given the arrival delay of more than 3 hours on a route of less than 1,500 km; Reimburse the out-of-pocket expenses incurred as a direct result of the delay, Food and drinks while waiting at the airport only a voucher of Β£3.50 per passenger was provided and not sufficient to provide water and food during the waiting time. National Express coach from London Stansted to London Paddington, made necessary by the late arrival time (receipt can be sent); Provide, within 14 days of receipt of this letter, the documentary evidence supporting the "weather" claim, specifically: official METAR/TAF meteorological reports for Perugia and Stansted airports covering the relevant date and times; any NOTAMs and ATC restrictions issued specifically affecting flight FR6486; and the aircraft's technical log indicating the cause of the delay. Please be advised that, in the absence of a satisfactory response within the stated timeframe, I reserve the right to file a formal complaint with the ENAC (Italian Civil Aviation Authority) and/or the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), and to pursue legal proceedings to recover all sums owed, including any associated costs. I look forward to your prompt response. Yours faithfully, London, 23rd June 2026 Valentina Zero [Ryanair Booking Reference F3WS2X]
