Problems at airport
The airline emailed a link to verification. The app was still unable to retrive the booking and it did not allow to check in. Was advised at the airport checkin to pay and reclaim as they could not do anything and also struggled to check in for a while.- Catania-London

I was at the gate on time around 9.10am; I was deny to onboard as I only have with me the paper ID that is valid till 2033. I understand the Eu implemented new rules, but at the moment there are no possibilities for an italian citizen resident in NL to request the new electronic ID as the Italian Embassy in NL do not even allow applying for an appointment until December! and I cannot travel to Italy apparently to apply for one in my own country. Secondly Ryanair denied an Italian citizen to come back to his own country: this is against the Constitution. Thirdly if I was able to fly out, why I cannot return? My document is stored in the Ryanair app as they have all my personal details: shouldn't the carrier inform the passenger that the paper document is not accepted - instead of asking to book my meal, pay extra for a stupid seat.....? I wil never, never, never fly with Ryanair again and I will report this incident to bot the Italian and the Dutch Civil Aviation.

I am absolutely distraught. I have a house near Luca and use your airline a lot. On Tuesday 18th August my mobile broke.I had no access to the following...phonecalls/emails/WhatsApp/Ryanair App/PayPal/online debit card payments. Therefore I could not VERIFY my credentials on any of the above media platforms in order to retrieve my booking reference numbers in order to check-in for my 0615 flight on Sunday 23rd August. I asked my partner back in the UK to call on my behalf to get someone to WhatsApp my mother's tablet but he was faced with a "bot" On Thursday 20th August I went to Pisa airport to pick up my friend and used this opportunity to go to the Ryanair check staff, flagging up THIS EMERGENCY issue, highlighting I very distressed please can you assist and help me in time for Sunday...3days ahead. I asked two Ryanair staff. They took my passport, told me what time my flight was, because I didn't know and said they couldn't help. Because I used to work as a BBC personal assistant to the top department Editorial and guidance. I was in disbelief with this outcome. I then went on your website to see what "Guidance " you have for your travellers when they are faced with an emergency crisis of losing a phone or breaking a phone What alternative steps are there to help with check-in. There is no emergency number, email, point of contact, hence why I was so dissatisfied when asking a Ryanair air employee at Pisa...seriously what I do..I have no phone until I get back to the UK. I feel it utterly unfair that your only resolution when someone is faced with the misfortune, you continue to penalise and capitalise by forcing them to pay for the boarding pass. Back in th3 day you would walk past to the desk, explaining your situation and then be issued with a boarding pass. My phone has smashed, how on earth can I retrieve any information. Where has your compassion and decent common sense gone. I went 3 days earlier to stress my awful predicaments. As you can see from my screenshot, even your on-line chat bot or person ignored me...Why offer this platform if you don't answer a traveller in distress??

Influence by other flights
Dear Ryanair Customer Service, I am writing to formally claim compensation under the UK Air Passenger Rights Regulations 2019 in relation to flight FR1940 from East Midlands Airport (EMA) to KrakΓ³w (KRK) on 12 August 2026. The flight was booked and ticketed as a flight to KrakΓ³w (KRK). However, due to the disruption, (electrical fault at Barcelona Airport) the aircraft was delayed and then diverted/rerouted to Katowice Airport (KTW) instead of the booked destination of KrakΓ³w. After arriving at Katowice, passengers had to wait for checked baggage and were subsequently transported by a bus arranged by Ryanair from Katowice to KrakΓ³w. Our scheduled arrival time in KrakΓ³w was approximately 23:00, whereas we did not reach our booked final destination, KrakΓ³w, until approximately 4:00 on 13 August 2026. This resulted in an arrival delay of approximately 5 hours at the final destination specified on our booking. There were four passengers on the booking: 2 adults, 1 child aged 3 and 1 child aged 2. I therefore request compensation of Β£220 per passenger, a total of: Β£880. Please assess this claim under the applicable UK Air Passenger Rights Regulations. In addition to this claim, as the airline had since rejected my eligibility for compensation, and not allowing us to complete the online compensation form on their website, I am also formally challenging Ryanair's decision to reject the claim for compensation on the basis that the disruption constituted an 'extraordinary circumstance'. The airline had since refused our compensation eligibility; reason given was "curfew at KrakΓ³w airport was missed following air traffic control restrictions suffered on previous sectors, outside of the control of Ryanair". I acknowledge that an external airport electrical fault may, depending on the circumstances, potentially constitute an extraordinary circumstance. However, under Article 5(3) of Regulation (EC) 261/2004, the existence of such an event does not automatically remove the airline's obligation to pay compensation. Ryanair must establish not only the existence of the alleged extraordinary circumstance, but also a direct causal connection between that circumstance and the delay, and that the delay could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken. At the gate, some passengers were informed that the flight was going to arrive in KrakΓ³w instead of Katowice (It was not a formal communication made clear to all passengers but rather a word of mouth passed on by travellers waiting for further information). This was later communicated by a pilot immediately after departing, that KrakΓ³w Airport would be unavailable at the expected arrival time as it will be closed by the time we land and that the aircraft would therefore be diverted to Katowice. I therefore request that Ryanair reconsider its decision and address the following points: Please provide the precise details of the alleged electrical fault at Barcelona Airport, including when it occurred, how long it affected operations and how it directly caused the delay to my flight. Please identify which part of my approximately five-hour delay was directly attributable to the electrical fault and which part resulted from the subsequent operational decision to divert the flight to Katowice. Please confirm and provide evidence when Ryanair first became aware that KrakΓ³w Airport would be unavailable at the scheduled arrival time. Please explain what reasonable measures Ryanair considered and implemented to minimise the resulting delay. Please confirm and provide evidence whether alternative flights, alternative aircraft, alternative routings or flights operated by other carriers were considered in order to transport passengers to KrakΓ³w at the earliest reasonably achievable time. If such alternatives were considered and rejected, please explain why they were not reasonably available or why using them would have constituted an intolerable sacrifice for Ryanair. Please explain why there was no transparent and clear communication to all passengers at the gate, informing that the flight will be rerouted to a different city. Please explain why Katowice was selected as the alternative airport and provide the basis on which Ryanair considers that this represented the earliest reasonable means of getting passengers to their booked final destination. Under the principles established by the Court of Justice of the European Union, an air carrier relying on extraordinary circumstances must demonstrate that it took appropriate measures and deployed the resources reasonably available to it to avoid the consequences of the disruption, including reasonable and timely rerouting where possible. Furthermore, the fact that passengers were diverted to Katowice does not change the fact that KrakΓ³w was the booked final destination. The time at which passengers actually reached the booked destination following the transfer is relevant when determining the extent of the delay. I therefore request that Ryanair reassess my entitlement to compensation under Article 7 of Regulation 261/2004/UK261 based on my actual arrival at KrakΓ³w. I also request reimbursement of any reasonable expenses incurred as a direct result of prolonged delay. This totals to Β£20. Although vouchers of Β£3.50 per passenger were offered by the airline following the second delay notification received on the airport screens, prior to this taking place we have already purchased some food, drinks and snacks at WHSmith immediately after the initial notification of a flight delay appeared on screens at which point no vouchers were issued (We were traveling with small children and had to prepare just in case hence why we acted immediately - spent around Β£20 paid with a card for which we can provide supporting evidence for if required I.e. screenshot/bank statement and exact time this was purchased). I am requesting for Ryanair to: (a) reconsider the refusal and pay the applicable UK261 compensation together with reimbursement of my reasonable expenses; total of Β£900; OR (b) provide a detailed evidence-based explanation addressing each of the points above, including the precise causal relationship between the alleged extraordinary circumstance and the full duration of my delay and the reasonable mitigation measures considered by Ryanair. For reference I have retained the booking confirmation, boarding passes, evidence of the flight disruption and details of the transportation arranged by Ryanair. I look forward to your substantive response rather than a general reference to βextraordinary circumstancesβ. Yours faithfully, Jessica Chmura Booking reference: [Y3RYQJ] Flight: FR1940 Date: 12 August 2026 Route: EMA β KRK Passengers: 4 Email: Jessica.zemanek26@hotmail.com- East Midlands-Krakow

Technical problems
This complaint concerns the serious disruption caused by a technical failure with the aircraft. The technical issue could not be resolved by the local staff in Serbia, and the airline had to send an aircraft and technical experts from the EU to address the problem. Our flight was delayed for at least three hours before we received any proper information about the situation. Eventually, the flight was cancelled and rescheduled for the following day. As a result of the cancellation and the lack of timely assistance, we had to cover the costs of food, hotel accommodation, and transportation to and from the hotel ourselves. We therefore request full reimbursement for all reasonable expenses incurred as a direct result of the flight disruption. Receipts and other supporting documents can be provided as proof of these expenses. In addition, we have evidence showing that, due to an error on the airline's side, a hotel reservation was mistakenly made in Malta instead of NiΕ‘ for the same evening. This caused even more confusion, stress, and panic during an already difficult situation. We therefore request reimbursement for all necessary expenses, as well as the compensation to which we are entitled under the applicable passenger rights regulations.- Nis-Malta

Ryanair are saying the flight wasnβt over 3 hours when it was as I have proof it was delayed by 3 hours and 1 minute. Also they said it was due to weather conditions but I have been told by other services that "The flight was delayed due to a knock-on effect from a previous sector. Under UK/EU261 case law, a delayed incoming aircraft due to weather does not constitute an extraordinary circumstance for the subsequent flight. I have also attached the flight delay information the flight actually started moving from the runway just before 11pm Greek time. It was meant to leave at 7.50pm Greek time.- Rhodos-Manchester

Me and my nice,we were at the passport control stand and after indicating the gate to dublin we stand at the line, but airport stuff and police worked very slowly and they worked so only 15-30 minutes. While a lot of people were in line they stopped checking passports because Ryanair stuff told them the gate will close. So after number of gate indicated 2 flights at the same time and close passport control and gate past only 15-30 minutes. It was really impossible to get passport control checking and get the gate. Neither airport staff nor Ryanair stuff hadn't help us!

I was traveling with my husband and daughter and me and my daughter are both wheelchair users, and as we use and electric wheelchair i was having issues with online checkin due do them travelling with lithium batteries . When i call customer service, thay said they will sort this out at checkin. When we went to the airport the ryanair staff charged us with Β£55 per person for not checking in online, when clearly it wasn't our fault. One of the staff was very rude to us and threatened to not let us board the flight. I don't see how this is our fault as we did everything we could to check in online. This is very disappointing and was very stressful for all of us especially me and my daughter and mother in law (who also traveled with us) we paid Β£220 in total for the four of which is very unfair. I will be taking this complaint further until this matter is resolved and we get our refund back of Β£220.

I am an Indian citizen holding a valid Irish short-stay visa endorsed with BIVS (British-Irish Visa Scheme). I had legally entered Ireland in accordance with the conditions of my visa and subsequently travelled to Bristol, UK, as part of the same Common Travel Area (CTA) journey. On my return journey from Bristol to Dublin, I was refused boarding by Ryanair staff on the basis that my Irish visa was a single-entry visa. Despite explaining that my visa was endorsed with BIVS, which permits travel between Ireland and the United Kingdom within the Common Travel Area after the initial entry, Ryanair staff did not allow me to board the flight. According to the Irish Immigration Service's published guidance, a single-entry BIVS visa is considered a single entry to the Common Travel Area rather than a single entry to Ireland only, and travellers may make multiple journeys between Ireland and the UK during the same CTA trip, provided they initially entered the country that issued the visa. As a result of Ryanair's refusal to board, I suffered significant inconvenience, disruption to my travel plans, stress, and additional expenses. I believe the boarding refusal was based on an incorrect interpretation of the BIVS visa rules and I am therefore seeking compensation and reimbursement for any costs incurred as a consequence of this incident. Arrived 2hours before boarding, staff kept on saying to wait as they want to confirm, finally after everyone was boarded they said based on single entry, we cant allow you to go back to Dublin.

My suitcase contains a lot of expensive makeup and other very important personal belongings that I urgently need. I really need my luggage back as soon as possible. When I was checking in at Rabat airport, I specifically asked the check-in staff member several times if my suitcase would be checked all the way to Norway. He confirmed that it would, around 10 times. I therefore expected my suitcase to arrive in Norway with me. However, when I arrived in Norway, my suitcase was not there. Please locate and return my luggage as soon as possible, as the belongings inside are very important to me. The suitcase is small and black, with a red-orange stripe around it.

Flight was delayed twice. Flight was put forward without any public announcements. I was there at the gate for 4 hours. Went to charge my phone at the backseat. People were still in the queue to board the plane. The gate was closed without explanation. Extremely rude staff. Ended to exit the airport and re-purchase another itinerary forβ¬100 Came back to board the next flight at 20:25. The same staff was there. As soon. As she saw me. Handed my passport and boarding pass. She didn't hand back my passport and boarding pass but rather threw them on the counter. No manners. No respect.

The disrupted flight was a replacement flight i had to book after being hospitalised and missing my original flight home. The travel insurance i paid for through ryanair would not cover any of the costs accrued by that either. The original pop up message said the flight delayed was due to technical issues. Iβm still yet to receive our two suitcases. No cash was provided. We last saw our cases at self check inattentive palma airport. It was very chaotic in that area. It would have been better if they had staff checking in. We paid additional fees to have a bigger case. Our cases were loaned to us so we would need to reimburse them if not returned. We filled a PIR form out straight away. The staff seemed used to this situation and werenβt shocked it had happened. A case was on our flight that had been left behind from the day before. Our delayed luggage left palma airport 24hours after we did. I had a call 24 hours after weβd landed to say they had got to Bournemouth and theyβd arrange a courier to deliver them as we live on the Isle of Wight. Since then DHL had delayed the delivery and itβs now 4 days without our cases when we were told it would be 2-3 days. Having a child with PDA itβs caused a huge stress and anxiety for her and myself. I have no receipts nor photos of what I had in my luggage but I can tell you that I had my full wardrobe and haircare and toiletries in my luggage which included 70% of it like from a brand of Ralph Lauren and they were brand new even the underwear. RIGHT NOW I LITERALLY HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR!!! And I donβt have the funds to buy a new wardrobe especially since I was on holiday. I am more than certain that what I had in my luggage is worth much more than what Iβm claiming but since some of the shirts were a bit less than brand new maybe it decreases the value of it. I also do not have anything to go to work with which is another huge problem.

I arrived well ahead of schedule and was placed third in the Non-Priority boarding queue. Despite having a valid boarding pass and Passport I was asked by the gate agent to step aside as the flight was overbooked and I may not get to travel. I reserved my right to travel and did not volunteer to give up my seat and asked for the reason for the declined boarding to be provided to me in writing. That request was refused. Having received no assistance from the gate agent other than handing me a sheet outlining my rights I then booked the only feasible option for me to travel home to Shannon on the same day as all other options were booked up.

We had an Irish Visa with endorsement of BIVS, British Irish Visa scheme, where we with an Indian passport can travel to the common travel area. We had come to Ireland first as the visa was issues by ireland then went to Bristol for a week, but on returning, denied boarding, the reason stated was that its a single entry visa, as per Department of Justice Immigration service Delivery, with a singe entry visa also, one can travel multiple times within the common travel area.

The flight FR1940 was booked and ticketed as a flight to KrakΓ³w (KRK). Due to the disruption, (electrical fault at Barcelona Airport) the aircraft was delayed and then diverted/rerouted to Katowice Airport (KTW) instead of the booked destination of KrakΓ³w. After arriving at Katowice, passengers had to wait for checked baggage and were subsequently transported by a bus arranged by Ryanair from Katowice to KrakΓ³w. Our scheduled arrival time in KrakΓ³w was 23:00, whereas we did not reach our booked final destination, KrakΓ³w, until after 4:00 on 13 August 2026. This resulted in an arrival delay of approximately 5 hours at the final destination specified on our booking. There were four passengers on the booking:2 adults, 2 children aged 3 and 2. I therefore request compensation of Β£220 per passenger, a total of: Β£880 under the applicable UK Air Passenger Rights Regulations. As the airline had since rejected my eligibility for compensation, and is not allowing us to complete the online compensation form on their website, I am formally challenging Ryanair's decision to reject the claim for compensation on the basis that the disruption constituted an 'extraordinary circumstance'. I therefore request that Ryanair reconsider its decision and to: (a) reconsider the refusal and pay the applicable UK261 compensation together with reimbursement of my reasonable expenses; total of Β£900; OR (b) provide a detailed evidence-based explanation addressing each of the points above, including the precise causal relationship between the alleged extraordinary circumstance and the full duration of my delay and the reasonable mitigation measures considered by Ryanair.- East Midlands-Krakow

βI am writing to formally contest your response and request a complete re-evaluation of my case. The conclusion that your staff acted appropriately is entirely inaccurate and fails to reflect the reality of what occurred at the boarding gate. βTo clarify the sequence of events: βUnfounded Accusation and Aggression: The staff member in question targeted my girlfriend's cabin bag, claiming it exceeded the size limits. When we questioned this, he adopted an aggressive and intimidating physical posture, puffing out his chest and confronting me directly. βRetaliation to Provocation: My reaction was a direct response to his unprofessional, aggressive, and inappropriate behaviour. It is completely unacceptable for a staff member to provoke a passenger and then use the resulting tension as a pretext to deny boarding. βContradictory Evaluation: The bag in question was subsequently evaluated and proven to be entirely compliant with the size requirements, proving that the staff member's initial intervention was baseless. βConcealment of Identification: During the incident, the employee deliberately hid his name tag and refused to provide his staff identification when asked, directly violating accountability standards. βDenying boarding under these circumstancesβwhere your staff initiated the conflict, acted aggressively, and were proven wrong about the baggageβis completely unjustified. βI expect this matter to be escalated to a senior management level for a fair review. I reiterate my request for appropriate compensation for the missed flight, the disruption caused, and the unacceptable treatment we received. β

The supervisor and employee saw me running towards the gate with the baby, and they closed the system. I was there precisely on time, and they denied my over boarding. I was there at 6:10, and the aeroplane was going to fly at 6:40. There was still time to onboard me gently.

We arrived to the airport 3 hours early. When we got to the gate which was listed on our boarding pass and the tv. It stated gate 50. Me and my partner where waiting and asked other individuals who worked if our flight flys from gate 50 and all told us they werenβt sure. Eventually a worker told us it was gate 34, it had not changed on the app or anywhere online. When we eventually got to gate 34 the check in man at the desk told us heβd shut the gate and no one is allowed through. We explained to him that the airline gave us the wrong boarding gate and he was extremely rude with us he was shouting and telling us to go deal with it our self. This was so inconvenient as me and my partner both had work the next day. I had to extent my car parking in London Stansted due to this. We both missed on 1 whole day of pay. We arrived at the final destination the minute the gate got shut as we had to make our through to the other end of the airport. The airline was horrible and uncaring, just shouting and rude.
