Figuring out how much you are owed for a Scoot disrupted flight can be complicatedWe're here to help. Let us assess your compensation for you.Check Your Flight
If you’re departing from the EU, and you’re denied boarding because your Scoot flight was oversold, you could get up to £520 (€650) in compensation. Not only that, but the airline is required by law to offer you a seat on the next available flight or a full ticket refund.
Some passengers prefer to get refunded, either because they would rather book a flight with another airline or because they don’t want to continue on their journey. Whatever the reason, if you choose a refund, you should receive it within 7 days if you used a credit card to purchase your ticket. If you used another form of payment, it could take up to 20 days.
The amount of compensation you receive is based on the distance of your flight as per the rules of EU Regulation EU261.
Flight Distance | Compensation Payout |
Flights under 1,500 km | £220 (€250) |
Flights between 1,500 and 3,500 km | £350 (€400) |
Flights over 3,500 km | £520 (€650) |
If your Scoot flight is overbooked, it means they have sold more tickets than seats, and all the passengers have arrived at the gate for their flight. Because the aircraft is over capacity, Scoot will need to find some passengers to take a different flight, and they do this with voluntary and involuntary denied boarding.

Before refusing passengers the right to board, Scoot will try to find volunteers instead. They do this by offering an award package that can include cash compensation, seating upgrades, lounge access, and more.
If you have the flexibility, accepting these offers can be very rewarding, especially if you can negotiate a better deal with the airline. However, be advised that if you do voluntarily surrender your seat in exchange for a compensation package, you will not be able to claim compensation based on EU261 rules.
If Scoot can’t find enough volunteers willing to give up their seats, the airline may start denying boarding against passengers’ will - a practice known as involuntary denied boarding due to overbooking.
Thanks to the EU’s air passenger rights regulations, you won’t be left stranded if you’re chosen for denied boarding.
Anyone involuntarily denied boarding a Scoot flight will be offered:
If you’re involuntarily denied boarding, be sure to ask a Scoot representative the reason. They should provide you a statement, outlining why you were refused boarding and the approximate compensation total. Keep this document because if you don’t receive your payout, you’ll need to file a claim.
Note: As a budget carrier, Scoot will likely offer travel vouchers instead of cash compensation, but you do not have to accept these. By law, you are entitled to cash, so if you prefer that over vouchers, then ask for it.
Once you know why you were denied boarding, ask about a new flight to your destination. You do have the option to request a refund, which might be a good idea if you would rather find a flight with a different airline.
If you were bumped because of overbooking, Scoot should give you your compensation payout right away within 24 hours. Also, be sure to request vouchers for meals and hotel accommodation if you won’t depart until the next day.
You will not receive compensation from Scoot if you were denied boarding because of the following reasons.
