The airline did not offer...

The airline did not offer any compensation for the disrupted flight. They just gave me refund for my flight ticket. But that is not enough. We incurred huge extra expenses due to this issue. We had to book alternative flights and other transport options to reach a place near our final destination. We had to buy meals from our own pockets overnight. The airline did not help in any of this. I would really appreciate if the airline could AT LEAST reimburse me for these extra expenses that I had to pay for. That's the least they can do. Moreover, we missed some train connections too due to this flight cancellation. We did not include those in our claims. We at least want them to reimburse us for what we ask for, it is the bare minimum. Our flight was supposed to take off at 22.50 from Dubrovnik on 20th Jul. It first got delayed to almost 2.14 AM the next day. Then it got cancelled. We were in utter shock. We had to reach Marseille positively the next day.

We wanted to do online...

We wanted to do online check-in, one day before flight. We’ve got notification that the flight has been cancelled. We didn’t get any notification about it before, only when we were about to do the check in. Only possible option Volotea offered was to flight 4 days later which we aren’t able to do. Moreover all other suitable tickets were sold for the next 2 days, therefore we were forced to stay in Paris next 3 days (pay for hotel, food etc)

There were no alternative...

There were no alternative flights to Athens available for that day, so I had to take a cab to the dock and purchase a ticket for a four hour ferry ride to Athens. I subsequently missed my connecting Emirates flight to New Jersey. As a result, I had to pay an additional $400 for a new ticket to the United States.

We had flight Santorini -Milan but we had to stop in Athene for 1 hour so : Santorini - Athenea Athenea-Milan and the first one was delayed so we couldn’t take the second one because was already gone to milan . We had to search a hotel and another flight for the next day , over 700€

Delay of 12 hours and...

Delay of 12 hours and 36 minutes. Volotea didn't inform until the same day. Volotea provided anything but a 20EUR voucher for meals at the airport which was not accepted everywhere. I lost my connection flight. I incurred in 200EUR additional costs because of the delay. The aircraft wasn't in Athens prior to the departure. It was in Bilbao, wherethere were extreme weather conditions (hail). But it was predictable in that region of Spain. Furthermore, when the air traffic was restarted in Bilbao, Volotea not only didn't reschedule a flight to Athens, but also sent the aircraft first to Toulouse before going to Athens, proving that the extreme weather conditions didn't last the 12h 36 minutes we suffered the delay.

Volotea claimed there was...

Volotea claimed there was an strike in Italy that motivated the cancellation, but as we arrived at the airport, the only cancelled flights were from Volotea. All other companies did fly normally. The only offer we got was a refund or next flight reservation (in this case, 7 days later). There was no alternative flight or accomodation offered. Instead of arriving SXB Friday night, I arrived on Saturday noon, with absolute no assistance from the airline. By the way, I flew Transavia from Olbia to Paris, which by itself proves that there was a way to fly between Italy and France that day.

I booked the flight two months...

I booked the flight two months before departure (41,11 Euro). When I arrived at the counter 2 hours prior to the scheduled departure, I received a boarding pass without seat number. After waiting at the gate until departure, I was denied boarding, because the flight was overbooked. The airline said I would have to purchase a replacement trip and reclaim expenses. No alternative flight was offered. Since there was no direct flight to Alicante in the following hours and days, I took a flight on the following day to Barcelona (154,54 Euro) and a train from there (76 Euro) and later from Castellon to Alicante (61,75 Euro). Originally, I rented a car because I had planned to go by car from Alicante to Valencia. As the rental car could only be cancelled until 6 hours before scheduled pickup, the payment for the rental car was not reimbursed to me (59,40 Euro). So, my expenses total 392,80 Euro.

The cancellation notification for my first flight was sent a day after the date of the flight, I found out in the airport that the flight was cancelled, for the return flight they notified me 1 day before and there is the option to ask for a refund.

The airline offered either...

The airline offered either reimbursement or alternative transportation 5 days later, which was too late. The flight was cancelled 2 days earlier than it's scheduled departure and due to the high fees to book another flight I booked a train ticket back. I will reach Verona at 9 pm. The train cost 275 euros.
