Your Passenger Rights with Corsair

As a Corsair passenger, you have rights in the European Union thanks to the rules of EU261. This means that when you depart from or arrive at an EU airport, you will be protected under these regulations regardless of your citizenship. If you fly with Corsair to the UK, you will have similar protections based on UK regulation UK261

The carrier does have flights to other regions like Canada and Africa, but because it is an EU airline, you will be protected as long as your flight is departing from or arriving in the EU. Canada has its own regulations to protect passenger rights, so if you happen to be flying from Canada to Africa for example, then you will be protected by Canada’s regulations.

In each case, you will be protected if your Corsair flight is cancelled, delayed, oversold, or if you miss a connection flight. Care and assistance, cash compensation, alternate flights, and refunds are all potential entitlements for flight disruptions as shown in the table below.

Corsair Delayed Flights

When passengers experience a flight delay with Corsair, they are entitled to various forms of recompense based on the length of the delay.

  • 2 hour delays - You’re entitled to meals, refreshments, and access to communication.
  • 3 hour delays - Passengers are entitled to the above as well as cash compensation 
  • 5 hour delays - You must be given the option of a flight rebooking or a full refund in addition to cash compensation if you arrive more than 3 hours late to your final destination.

Corsair Cancelled Flights 

If your Corsair flight is cancelled with more than 14-days notice, you will not be entitled to cash compensation, but you are entitled to a new, rebooked flight or a refund.

In situations where Corsair gives you less than 14-days notice, then you are entitled to:

  • A rebooked flight or cash refund
  • Care and assistance (for delays at the airport that last 2 hours or more) 
  • Overnight hotel accommodation and transport for delays that require you to wait until the next day
  • Cash compensation when Corsair is at fault for the cancelled flight

Cash Compensation: How Much Can You Get from Corsair

Corsair airlines Flight Refund Policy

A flight compensation and a refund are two different things. Regulations allow you to receive both: a cancellation refund and compensation.

In case of a cancellation, an airline will try to re-book you on the similar flight, but if that becomes impossible, a cancellation refund will be a full cash refund. Generally, your claim would succeed, providing there were no extraordinary circumstances beyond airline control.

If Corsair airlines cancels your flight to extraordinary circumstances (such as Covid travel restrictions or a serious illness) and you were offered no replacement flight, you can obtain a ticket refund in full, since your flights booked were not available.

Types of ticket refunds: A full refund must be in cash or credit. Vouchers are allowed only if you specifically agree to it. We do not recommend accepting vouchers due to short expiry dates and potential restrictions on redemption.

Note: If Corsair airlines offers a replacement flight with approximately the same arrival time and you decide not to take it, there is a possibility of you losing the right to get both compensation and a ticket refund.

Rule of thumb: you can generally reject alternative flights and receive a refund in full, if a new replacement flight arrives 3+ hours later from your initial scheduled arrival time.

What is the Time Limit for Compensation Claims?

You have up to six years to contact Corsair airlines and collect your compensation and ticket refunds.

Extraordinary Circumstances

Airlines don’t have to pay passengers cash compensation when extraordinary circumstances cause the flight disruption. So, anytime you have a delay or cancellation caused by the following situations, you will not be eligible for compensation but you will still be offered a replacement flight or a refund as described in earlier sections.

I boarded a flight from Nigeria to Paris, then Paris to Toronto Unfortunately when the airfrance aircraft was approaching Toronto the plane diverted to Cleveland in the U.S. due to bad weather conditions but passengers were not informed and when passengers alighted in the airport they were not given proper care right now I am very sick. I was delayed at the airport which resulted in two missed flights Toronto to Vancouver and Vancouver to Castlegar. Upon my arrival at the Toronto airport, I was given a delayed baggage report paper to fill and the airfrance staff promised to deliver baggage to my address but right now my baggage has not been delivered to me. I rebooked another flight from Toronto to Vancouver, then to Castlegar for 610 dollars and 90 dollars extra expense for a night spent in Toronto airport making a total of 700 dollars.I arrived in Cleveland U.S. by 11 p.m. but left 12 noon the next day by bus, and we paid for the flight. I had this experience last year, and I am having a similar experience this year, right now I am traumatized and my medication is inside my delayed baggage. If my 3 bags are not delivered to me and the extra expense incurred I will have to sue airfrance.
