Denied boarding

I planned this trip around my son eleventh birthday: Athens to London first on Ryanair (completed), then London Stansted to Luxembourg on Ryanair flight FR1459 (booking ref D8EQKR), with a train onward to Brussels and a return flight from Brussels to Greece on Friday 17 July. Knowing the Stansted departure was very early, 06:35, I booked a hotel near the airport the night before specifically to avoid any risk of missing the flight. On the morning of the 13th, we arrived at the airport roughly two hours before departure — standard practice. Security screening took an unusually long time. By the time we reached the top of the stairs to the gate, the “last call” notice was already showing. By the time we got to the gate itself, it was 06:10 for a 06:35 departure — and the gate had already been closed. I went straight to the gate staff. All I got was a single “sorry” — no explanation of when the gate had actually closed, no offer to help with rebooking, and no acknowledgment that I was travelling with a young child. The door was opened only to let us out. There were no affordable same-day flights to Luxembourg left — just one expensive night flight. I was upset, and I decided to abandon the rest of the trip: the Luxembourg leg, the Brussels train connection, and the return flight I’d already booked from Brussels for the 17th. Instead I booked a same-day Aegean flight home from London Heathrow to Athens, which meant crossing London from Stansted to Heathrow with an eleven-year-old, on top of an already exhausting and upsetting day.

1. unnecesarily aggressive/passive ...

1. unnecesarily aggressive/passive aggressive staff. ZERO flexibility or human-like treatment. humiliating, extreme lack of willingness to help, you feel like they do not want you on board. 2. bag sizer is much smaller than the under seat space for a free bag. my bag just about fit in the sizer with a squeeze but fit very easily under the seat with room for more. they constantly search for ways to unfairly charge customers more money. this is apart from all the additional costs of budget airlines. 3. flights from Stansted is ridiculous. the least it can cost to get from London to Stansted is £15 but usually more, and this is a 2 hour bus. I will avoid using Ryanair and Stansted airport at all costs, it is a truly disgusting experience. other budget airlines that I often use - eg Easyjet, Vueling are far nicer to travel with, though still far from ideal.

Flight delay

Great airline but delay times/schedules for some flights are a big let down with knock on effects for my working day. Great staff but unfortunately delays are just annoying.

Scammers - NEVER USE THEIR SERVICES

Trust Ryanair with your flight and expect getting sent an email to the SPAM folder about the flight getting canceled a MONTH before the planned departure with NO alternative date in the near future. Imagine checking your app a week before planned departure and finding out about your plans being ruined. Customer service is unavailable and the vacation is ruined.

Flight delay

When it’s cheap and on time, it’s a good. When they start charging add ins, bags and delays, they’re a nightmare. They often try to get money from you too that other airlines won’t do the same

Young couple travelling with a baby

We are a young couple travelling with our 4-month-old baby, returning from Corfu to Warsaw. We flew to Corfu with another airline and had a very positive experience, so we were genuinely surprised by how different our Ryanair flight was. The biggest issue was the lack of consideration for families travelling with very young infants. We had to wait in multiple long queues: to fold the stroller, at security, at passport control, and again before boarding. Under the strong Corfu sun, we asked if we could remain in the shade with our baby until boarding, but instead we were required to stand in a long queue outside the aircraft. For such a young baby, this was stressful and unnecessary. We also found the seats very uncomfortable, especially when travelling with an infant. There were no seat-back pockets to keep essential baby items such as a bottle, pacifier or wipes within easy reach, making the journey even more difficult. Our assigned seats were near the front of the aircraft, while the only baby changing table was located in the rear lavatory. During a diaper change, unexpected turbulence began. The changing table was very small, hard and not practical for safely changing a baby under those conditions. I had to finish as quickly as possible while the aircraft was shaking. What happened next was the most disappointing part of the journey. As the turbulence became stronger, I expected the cabin crew to help, especially because I was alone in the back with a 4-month-old baby and a diaper bag. Instead, I was instructed by two crew members to return immediately to my assigned seat at the very front of the aircraft. I had to walk the entire length of the cabin during heavy turbulence while carrying my baby and our bag, trying to hold onto the seats with only one free hand. The aircraft was shaking, I was being thrown from side to side, and I genuinely feared for my baby’s safety. It was an extremely stressful and frightening experience. Rather than feeling supported, I felt completely abandoned. We believe the situation could have been handled with much more care and common sense. Finally, the flight was delayed. We only learned about the additional 30–35 minute delay after we had already been seated on the aircraft for around 20–30 minutes. We eventually arrived even later than expected. Delays can happen, but better communication would have made a significant difference, especially for passengers travelling with infants. Overall, this experience left us very disappointed. We understand that low-cost airlines operate differently, but we expected a higher standard of care for families travelling with very young children. Unfortunately, after this experience, we are unlikely to choose Ryanair again and would not recommend it to other parents travelling with babies.
