Truly Abysmal. Avoid this awful airline.

I flew Business Class with Turkish Airlines on Flight TK209 from Singapore to Istanbul on 16 February, and it was the worst Business Class experience I’ve had. Priority check-in was poorly managed, boarding was delayed with minimal communication, and service onboard was inattentive. Shortly after take-off, window blinds were required to be closed and crew were largely absent thereafter. The catering was unacceptable — poorly heated canapés, inedible beef fillet, and hot dishes served cold. When I later requested food because I couldn’t eat the meal, I was refused. My entertainment system also froze and was unusable for around two hours. One lavatory for the entire Business Class cabin caused constant queues, which is not what you expect from a premium ticket. Later in the flight, after declining “breakfast,” I was effectively ignored and even had to walk to the Economy galley to get water. I paid for a premium product but did not receive a premium experience. Extremely disappointing and far below expected standards.

I was involuntarily denied boarding...

I was involuntarily denied boarding on 26 December 2025 on my Business Class flight from Manchester to Istanbul (MAN–IST), part of my itinerary MAN–IST–BKK. I presented myself at the airport in good time and complied with all check-in and boarding requirements. Boarding was refused verbally. No written reason, no denied boarding notice, and no documentary evidence of any alleged passport issue was provided at the airport. They since stated that “Bangkok advised my passport would be refused.” I formally reject this explanation. No written instruction, warning, or authority communication has been shown to me at the airport or provided subsequently. A verbal and undocumented claim does not meet the evidential standard required under UK261. I further note that I later travelled using the same passport with British Airways, confirming that my passport was valid for travel. Turkish Airlines has claimed that “Bangkok advised my passport would be refused.” However: • No written instruction or refusal notice was shown to me at the airport • No documentation has been produced since • No immigration authority made a refusal decision in my presence • No evidence has been provided that any communication was specific to my passport Under UK261, an airline must prove that denied boarding was due to invalid travel documents. A verbal, undocumented claim referencing a third party does not meet this evidential threshold. In addition, I subsequently travelled using the same passport with another airline, confirming the passport’s validity. As this flight departed from the United Kingdom, UK261 applies. This incident constitutes involuntary denied boarding, not a no-show and not a passenger fault. My return flight on 7 January must therefore remain fully valid and protected. Any cancellation, marking as a no-show, or interference with my return journey would be unlawful and will be included in my UK261 enforcement complaint. My return flight was not valid, and they requested a payment of £3,000 at BKK to fly back to Manchester and no manager was available to speak to at BKK airport. To conclude :- The flight was overbooked. Turkish Airlines staff verbally refused boarding and provided no written reason, no denied-boarding notice, and no passenger rights information. A manager was requested but did not attend. No documentation was issued to support any claim of travel document insufficiency.

Will avoid booking with Turkish at ...

Will avoid booking with Turkish at all costs in the future. Sold me a ticket with 2 different airlines, had no idea the hassle they put me through. Had to wait in a huge check-in line at LaGuarida Airport. Left my bags in Istanbul, instead of my final destination in Manila. I was forced to pay all extra costs staying longer at hotel and deal with the inconveniences of taking taxis, which took days off my vacation. Had 14 hour layover in Istanbul. Its not worth the extra money saving after the nightmare they put me though. Good luck reaching Customer Care to complain. They put you in an algorithm they wont talk to you because of defaults in so many words to "nobody cares."

Horrible and inhumane experience

What an awful experience I had in July following your sudden cancellation of my flight, couple of days prior to my return to Sydney. I made countless phone calls to Turkish airline almost every hour for a number of days. Unfortunately, the responses I got were vain including - "sorry all of our flights are booked", we have no flights for your intended date or possible dates of travel, and we can't seem to have any alternatives for you but you're welcome to request a refund for your cancelled flight. Even more unfortunately, the supposed 'refund amount' could never have got me a one-way ticket from even the cheapest airlines on earth. This implied that a refund was not a viable option. I should hope that Turkish airline still has a record of all the phone calls and conversation with them in relation to this matter. This action of Turkish airline impacted me in a number of ways: caused a huge psychological trauma, emotional catastrophe, lost time and incurred financial losses as a result. My business was put on hold and as an employee of New South Wales Department of Education, my job was impacted also. After an endless wait for an alternative ticket from Turkish airline, I resorted to contacting other platforms to obtain a ticket. Unfortunately, I received ticket from Turkish airline few hours after I purchased another. I do recall emailing I'm contacting you regarding the awful experience I had in July following your sudden cancellation of my flight, couple of days prior to my return to Sydney. This action of Turkish airline impacted me in a number of ways: caused a huge psychological trauma, emotional catastrophe, lost time and incurred financial losses as a result. As an employee of New South Wales Department of Education, my job was significantly impacted. After an endless wait for an alternative ticket from Turkish airline, I resorted to contacting other platforms to obtain a ticket. Unfortunately, I received ticket from Turkish airline few hours after I purchased another. I do recall emailing at once to inform Turkish airline that I was not going to use the ticket as I already got one. The cancelled ticket could be seen on their website but later disappeared. Perhaps an attempt to erase any piece of evidence. However, I do have the email and message record of the flight cancellation. Meanwhile, my baggage was delayed for 3 straight days after my arrival in Abuja on 4th July 2025. Even though I filled out a feedback form for the expenses incurred during that time, nothing was done by the Turkish airline. Following this horrific experience, I have made attempts (up to 7 times) via the feedback form on Turkish website, but sadly, their responses show that they do not care and expects me to just move on. See below one of those. I, therefore, call on well-meaning individuals and organisations to intervene and stop this inhumane treatment. Dear Firstly, we are sorry again, for the adverse effect of this irregularity that happened beyond our control on your flight plan, and for the inconvenience you had in the meantime. Customer satisfaction is on top of our priorities as Turkish Airlines throughout our services. We would like to assure you that any kind of behavior or incident which would lead to customer dissatisfaction certainly would not be tolerated nor left investigated. Therefore, we would like to state that unfortunately, we cannot implement a different application regarding your request. Terrible customer service

Due to an accident on a major highway, Interstate 90, traffic was redirected, leading to hours of added driving-time to Logan. Upon arriving at Logan, I was denied checking-in and boarding by the rudest Turkish ticketing agents on this planet. I contacted the airline customer service and got other rude Turkish agents that offered no help at all and proceeded to say, I did a no-show and had, therefore, forfeited my ticket

Horrifying Experience at Airport with Terminal Agents

Due to circumstances beyond my control, as in a great accident leading to the blockage of a major highway which cuts travel time by 90 percent, I reached the airport a bit late and was denied check-in by a rude unscrupulous terminal agent, who also was dismissive and offered no help after denying me boarding.

A Company to avoid!!!!!!!

Absolutely a company to avoid. During layovers in Istanbul you will be completely abandoned by the ground staff, who are often arrogant and unhelpful. They offer connections with only one hour between flights, which are simply not feasible. Istanbul Airport is huge and poorly organized, and even with longer layovers you need to be extremely careful because your incoming flight will very likely be delayed, leaving you with very little time to reach your next gate. On top of that, with such short layovers — or in case of delays — you will obviously not receive your checked-in luggage at your final destination. Your bags will typically arrive two days later, causing even more inconvenience. The onboard food is also terrible, making the overall experience even worse. You won’t receive any assistance from the ground staff, who barely respond to basic questions about gate information. My advice: avoid this airline entirely. Spend a little more and fly with companies that provide better service and, above all, a reliable airport customer service team that can truly help passengers in case of delays. As for me, they will never see me again
