Important! Because Etihad isn’t actually based in these regions, the limit of departure airports applies. That means that not every Etihad Airways flight will be covered. The most common use of these regulations is related to flight interruptions.

For example, if you leave an EU or UK airport, you may be entitled to up to £520 (€600) in compensation for flight delays totaling 3 hours or more. Additionally, flight cancellations made without at least 14 days' notice can trigger the same amount of compensation. You may also be able to claim this amount if you get bumped from an Etihad Airways flight, otherwise known as denied boarding.

UPON ARRIVAL MUMBAI ON 5 JULY AT ABT 0215 HRS AND DEPLANING, BAGGAGE WAS ON BELT NO. 7. ONE BAG -TAG NO.0 607 EY 093641 WAS REMOVED FROM THE BELT BY ETIHAD PERSONNEL AND KEPT TO THE SIDE AS SAME HAD BEEN OBSERVED TO BE BADLY DAMAGED. WE SAW THE SAME AND THE ETIHAD OFFICER ADVISED US TO REGISTER A BAGGAGEC DAMAGE COMPLAINT ONLINE. WE DID SO ON THE 5TH ITSELF AS PER ETIHAD DAMAGED BAGGAGE INSTRUCTIONS AS GIVEN BY CUSTOMER SERVICE. TO DATE HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY INTIMATION FROM THE AIRLINE . OVER THE PAST FEW DAYS AND CHECKING THE DAMAGED BAG WE HAVE LOST ITEMS WHICH WERE PACKED IN THE SAID BAG. MOREOVER, AN AMERICAN TOURISTER SUITCASE BEARING BAGGAGE TICKET NO.093705 WAS OBSERVED CRACKED IN TWO PLACES RENDERING IT UNUSABLE IN FUTURE. BOTH BAGS HAVE EVIDENTLY BEEN MISHANDLED EITHER AT JOHANNESBURG O R TAMBO AIRPORT WHILST LOADING OR AT ABUDHABI AIRPORT WHILE TRANSFERRING FROM EY 748 TO EY 206. BOTH BAGS ARE BEYOND ANY FURTHER USE. FORTUNATELY, THERE IS NOTHING MISSING FROM THE SUITCASE AS AGAINST NUMBER OF THINGS OBERVED TO BE MISSING FORM THE VERY BADLY DAMAGED BAG.

Subject: Urgent Complaint Regarding Missed Flight and Refund Request – Booking with Etihad Airways To whom it may concern, I am writing to express my extreme frustration and deep disappointment regarding my recent experience with Etihad Airways. As a student currently studying in Belgium, I had booked a flight to the Seychelles for a much-needed vacation. Not only did I not get to take that flight, but due to the sheer lack of support and mismanagement by your staff, I missed it entirely. What’s worse, I paid €823.66 for this flight and was not even permitted to board. This is an outrageous loss, especially for a student. I trusted your airline to provide competent service, and instead I was met with indifference when I needed assistance the most. The staff on the ground offered no meaningful help, no workable solutions nothing but added stress and confusion. This experience has left me deeply dissatisfied and financially burdened. I demand a full refund for the €823.66 I paid for a flight I never got to take. I expect this matter to be addressed urgently and with the seriousness it warrants. My nephew was waiting at the gate that mentioned in the actual boarding pass which is Gate: B2 for almost 2 hours waiting for the gate to be open. No one ask him or told him that the gate for flight EY697 has changed or has been directed to A4 until we received a call at 22:36 Doha time that the gate at A4 is going to close and is waiting for my nephew Waqar Ahmed to be on board. We immediately contacted him, and he go immediately to the gate A4. after 2mins by 22:38 we called again to informed them that he is already at the gate but unfortunately, they didn't allow him to go inside since the security said that the gate is already closed. Our party doesn't have any fault or lack of what had happened, no one inform us, nor do such announcement at the gate B2 about the changes. flight was dated June 27,2025 Time: 23:55 muscat time. Please assist us on this matter. My nephew is still at the airport waiting for the action and assistant. We do not have a capability to book another ticket to Doha. We ask your kind assistant for this matter. Thank you.

I had a business class reservation (OECUPP) for two people from Riyadh to Kuala Lumpur. Upon arriving at Riyadh Airport and completing boarding procedures, a company employee informed me that the aircraft had been changed to a smaller aircraft and that my booking class had been downgraded from business to economy for the flight from Riyadh to Abu Dhabi. I hope to receive financial compensation for what happened. I was forced to change my flight class and was not notified in sufficient time to find an alternative flight and receive a refund for the difference in fare between the two classes.
