Flight delay

Airport personnel couldn't care less regarding rebooking to Madrid, they seemed offended when asked questions in English. Had to take 2 flights instead of one .

Denied boarding

Of all the airlines I have traveled with, the ground staff of Lufthansa at Chicago O’Hare were among the very worst I have encountered. My wife was denied boarding even though she possessed all the necessary travel documentation and had previously traveled internationally on the exact same papers without issue. What made the situation even more frustrating was that she had already been issued boarding passes through to the final destination before suddenly being denied onward travel. After leaving us stranded, the Lufthansa ground staff provided virtually no assistance whatsoever — not even help returning us to our city of origin. We were ultimately forced to purchase an entirely new set of same-day tickets out of pocket. The entire experience reflected an alarming lack of professionalism, consistency, and basic customer care.

Flight cancellation

Poor customer service . Leave you basically stranded when things go wrong. I had to try and book a flight home on the same day they cancelled my flight

Lufthansa cancelled my flight LH459 — told me "crew shortage" — turns out the plane broke down

On March 20, 2026, Lufthansa cancelled my flight LH459 from San Francisco to Munich, just hours before departure. I was traveling with my two children to visit my mother, who had just undergone emergency surgery in Austria. We had 7 days — timed around my kids' college break. The cancellation email stated the reason was "lack of the planned crew." No alternative flight was offered for the next day. Instead, we were rerouted through Boston on United/Austrian Airlines, arriving two days later, effectively cutting our already short trip by a third. Here's where it gets interesting. On March 27, Merkur.de reported that LH458 — the Munich to San Francisco flight on the same aircraft, same day — had to turn back to Munich 50 minutes after takeoff due to a "technical problem." That plane was supposed to land in San Francisco and become our LH459 back to Munich. It never arrived. The plane broke down. So Lufthansa told me "crew shortage." The real reason was a technical fault. Under EU Regulation 261/2004, technical faults are definitively not extraordinary circumstances (Wallentin-Hermann v Alitalia, C-549/07). This distinction matters because airlines sometimes use "crew" language to create ambiguity around compensation claims. The numbers: I paid $3,508.53 for three passengers in August 2025. Lufthansa has refunded $2,764.53 for "additional services." The remaining $744.00 is still missing — one week past the 7-day refund deadline under Article 8. My EU261 compensation claim for €1,800 (€600 x 3 passengers, flight over 3,500km) has not been processed. If anyone else was on LH458 or LH459 on March 20 and was given a different reason for the disruption, I'd be very interested to hear from you. Lufthansa Case: C-432175-W0Q3 Booking: 7DR8UY

Worst customer service ever

I have now booked two times with Lufthensa and both time my flights were cancelled less than 48 hours before, with no help on there side to re-book a new flight for me. There are also no phone numbers or customer service that I can reach to from Canada to help me with this. The only 2 numbers I found turned out to be scams asking me to pay more to change my flights. I do not recommend this airline company to anyone.

On May 22, 2025, I flew from Paris ...

On May 22, 2025, I flew from Paris CDG to Cebu, Philippines, and my experience with Lufthansa was extremely disappointing. The night before my flight, I called customer service to arrange an extra baggage allowance since I was traveling with two large suitcases. I was clearly informed that the additional baggage would cost around 100 euros. However, when I arrived at the airport to check in, I was suddenly charged 216 euros — more than double what I was told. To make matters worse, the staff claimed they had no record of my request, even though I had confirmed it with customer service the night before. This kind of inconsistency and lack of coordination between customer service and airport staff is unacceptable. Passengers deserve accurate information and fair treatment, not surprise charges at the counter. This experience has left me extremely dissatisfied with Lufthansa’s service.

Flight cancellation

Lufthansa booked flight cancelled. Alternative flight cancelled. My son (minor)was in the airport the entire day waiting for a flight. In the end of the afternoon they returned to the Hotel and another flight was booked on the following day (LOT airline). It was mentioned (Not officially) that it was a strike of the lufthansa staff, information never confirmed, and afterwards the weather conditions (Again not officially) which was not true since other airlines didn´t cancelled the flights on the same day. My son´s colleagues took the TAP flight to Lisbon on the same day (16.02.2026). there goes the idea of German efficiency! To be treated this way, it´s better to pay less in a low cost company.

Flight delay

I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding my recent journey with Lufthansa. My itinerary was from Riyadh (King Khalid International Airport) to Frankfurt Airport, and then onward to Milan Linate Airport. The scheduled departure time from Riyadh was 2:00 AM. However, the flight was delayed for more than three hours. As a result of this delay, when I arrived at Frankfurt Airport, I discovered that my connecting flight to Milan had already departed. I had to remain at Frankfurt Airport for more than three additional hours, and I was rebooked on a later flight departing at approximately 1:00 PM. Unfortunately, the issues did not end there. Upon arrival at Milan Linate Airport, my checked baggage did not arrive. I was forced to wait in Milan for a full day for my luggage, even though my original plan was to proceed directly to Como. Furthermore, due to this significant delay, I lost my car rental reservation, as the rental office was closed by the time I arrived. This experience caused considerable inconvenience, disruption to my travel plans, and additional expenses. I kindly request a full review of my case and appropriate compensation in accordance with EU passenger rights regulations.
