The Canadian Transport Agency reported that  between April 2023 and June 2024, 

Egyptair received an average of 20 complaints for every 100 flights. This number is on the high side with only 2 other airlines surpassing this average.

We boarded our flight (number MS0784) only to be kept on a sweltering hot plane for over an hour, as the air conditioning was not functioning. Eventually, we were asked to return to the gate, where we waited for approximately another hour without clear communication. After being instructed to re-board, we were again left on the same aircraft — still without working air conditioning — for an additional 2 to 3 hours. Throughout this time, the flight attendants were largely unresponsive, avoiding passenger queries. When approached directly, they were unable to provide any meaningful updates on the situation, including whether or when the flight would depart. The heat onboard became so unbearable that passengers had to insist on being given drinking water. In total, our outbound flight was delayed by around 5 hours. The original departure time from London Heathrow was 9:40 AM local time on 5 April, with a scheduled arrival at Cairo International Airport at 3:35 PM. Instead, we departed at approximately 2:52 PM and landed around 8:35 PM — a significant disruption that caused us to miss a 6:00 PM activity we had booked as part of an organized group tour. To add to the frustration, EgyptAir has yet to respond to our formal compensation claim submitted on Monday, 7 April 2025. Despite our repeated efforts, we have received no communication or acknowledgement from the airline. This lack of accountability and customer service has only worsened what was already a deeply disappointing travel experience.

Ticket Number MS 779 Date Oct 31 2024 I am writing to formally express my disappointment with the experience I had during my recent trip on [date], from Riyadh to Cairo to London. While I understand that unforeseen technical issues can arise, the way this situation was handled was far below any acceptable standard of service. When the flight was unexpectedly diverted to Frankfurt, I was left stranded without any updates or communication from your team. As I do not hold a Schengen visa, I was unable to leave the airport, leaving me with no choice but to sleep on the floor for over 10 hours. During this time, I had no access to food, water, or my luggage. After hours of complete silence and frustration, I had to book a flight at my own expense to reach London. To this day, I have received no communication, no apology, and no acknowledgment of this incident from your airline. This experience has been not only inconvenient but also deeply disappointing. I expect to be compensated for the distress, inconvenience, and additional expenses I incurred. Compensation could be in the form of financial reimbursement or travel vouchers for future flights. Please confirm receipt of this email and let me know how the airline plans to address this matter promptly. Thank you for your attention to this serious issue. I look forward to your swift response.

Plane was late arriving at Heathrow and then we spent a further 1hour waiting on the plane until we got a slot to take off. We left London 4 hours late and arrived at Johannesburg more than 3 hours late 11h30
