Your Royal Jordanian Passenger Rights

Royal Jordanian Airlines isn’t based in the EU, but they still have to follow the rules of a regulation called EU261 whenever they depart from an airport in the EU or the UK. 

Fortunately, this regulation defines how the carrier must respond to complaints about delays, cancellations, denied boarding, and more. This means that if your flight is eligible for compensation, you could receive between €250 and €600 if you arrive 3+ hours late or your flight was cancelled less than 14 days before departure.

If you’ve had issues with your baggage, your rights are protected by the Montreal Convention, which states that Royal Jordanian would have to pay as much as €1,920 in reimbursement and compensation.

Problems at airport

My flight plan was at 16:00 from Heathrow to Amman with transit 2 hours then to Baghdad arrive 03:00 AM following day. Heathrow closed for power outage, however airline delayed the flight from 16:00 to 21:15 even though airport is closed, then informed us the next day flight is cancelled. Subsequently they cancelled my connection flight too from AMM to BGW and offered another flight later that day with 15 hours stop over, making my whole journey over 25 hours, then they delayed it to another day. To be honest it was a series of confusing updates, in the meantime I took a different flight from a different airport Gatwick in order I meet my deadline at my destination which I barely caught. I was still receiving flight updates 2 days later while I was already at my destinations. I wrote to the airline to 3 different email addresses I found via their website asking for full refund. They haven’t responded yet, not even auto reply. They don’t have a UK phone number. Only Jordan.

We were told that our connecting flight will wait for us the whole time we were travelling, only then to find it had left minutes before we landed. We were put on the latest flight though we requested to be put on an earlier flight. We were also not provided sufficient information regarding the cancellation. We were not provided with a visa to leave Amman Airport Hotel which meant that we were stuck there to do nothing. Pool was closed. We had absolutely nothing to do.

I received an email from RJ notifying me that the flight from Athens to Amman, originally scheduled for December 19th, has been rescheduled to Friday, December 20th, without providing any explanation. This change has caused significant inconvenience for my family, as we have reservations starting early on December 20th. Consequently, we stand to lose an entire day of our plans and its cost.

My name is Ebraheem Kanaan. I travelled with my four kids including a 5-year-old boy from Amman to Chicago which was supposed to end in Toronto. I booked via Royal Jordanian Airlines. The flight was delayed to arrive in Chicago which ended up with us not catching up on the American Airlines flight which was supposed to fly at 8:15 am on the same day Aug.31. Another issue is to get the bags again. They were very hectic days. There were about 4 to 5 families on that day. We spoke with the agent from RJ and the flights were full till the 3rd of Sept. I explained to him my situation as I am widowed with 4 kids and I can not wait more than one day. After 1 to 2 hours between getting our luggage and other procedures.. Finally, we got rebooked by Canada Airlines through RJ agent for the next morning's trip to Toronto AC 500. We stayed at the hotel Comfort Inn we got vouchers for food which was not enough for 5 people. We had 8 bags with us. the next morning at 2 AM we went to the airport and all our 8 bags were checked .. the plane was on time but when we arrived and went to pick up our bags .. one was missed and a claim was written at the airport where all info was provided to the agent at the airport. They assured us that they would contact us upon finding it. So, it was a bad experience and we ask if we could have our compensation for this situation. The claim must be against Royal Jordanian not Canada Airlines the trip was from Amman to Chicago by Royal Jordanian Then from Chicago to Toronto by American Airlines. But, since we missed it to Toronto the RJ Agent rebooked us via Air Canada AC 500 Flight the next day as all flights were full. If you have any questions, please contact me at 647 468 3378 Thank you. I had my two kids with me, the airport was freezing. We only expected to be there for a 2 and a half hour lay over. But we ended up having our flight delayed for 12 hours. Being in the cold airport affected my daughter who has asthma. She was starting to get sick and we didn’t have medicine on us. We are a Muslim family and we didn’t find any halal food here. We didn’t eat during the duration of the delay and my son was crying from hunger. I was also on my period and didn’t have medicine or extra pads to help out. Our flight was supposed to depart at 8:55AM France Time Zone and expected to arrive at 11:55 AM in Detroit but since it got delayed, we arrived at 2 AM the following day. We went to the help desk to see if we could find another flight but all the flights were completely booked. This inconvenienced our family because we had plans the following day and it ruined the arrangement.
