  • Cancelled flights: Anytime your flight is cancelled with less than 2 weeks notice, you could be entitled to compensated similar to what you’d get for a delayed flight
  • Lost or damaged baggage: What if the airline loses or damages your luggage? Well, you could get as much as £1,300 (€1,700) depending on your specific route and exchange rates.
  • Denied boarding: When you’re bumped because the flight was oversold, you could be in line for as much as £520 (€600) in compensation.
  • Unhelpful Customer Service: If you are unhappy with any aspect of your Malaysia Airlines experience, a complaint may elicit some form of compensation like vouchers or other discounts.

Malaysia Airlines Complaints: Before You Begin

Airlines receive countless complaints, so if you leave out any information, you probably won’t get your desired outcome. As such, here are some things to consider.

  1. Check and double check your contact details so that the carrier can easily get in touch.
  2. Gather all your booking details and travel documents like your boarding pass, baggage tags, and anything else to support your claim.
  3. Take notes and photos. Taking pictures of information boards in the airport or screenshots for airline notifications can come in handy. For damaged luggage, photos can make all the difference in the compensation claim.
  4. Provide details about your incident. Infact, the more the better.
  5. State your expectations in order to resolve the Malaysia Airline complaint to your liking.

Missing luggage

Dec 22, 2024
I am writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration regarding a distressing incident involving the mishandling of my hand carry luggage during my recent travel with Malaysia Airlines. This experience has caused me significant emotional distress and disrupted my personal and professional life. During my journey, one of your staff members took my hand carry luggage without providing me with any claim stub. Subsequently, I was informed that without this stub, it would be impossible to locate my luggage. My luggage contained several important and valuable items, including: • A gift for my sick husband, whose health is already a significant source of worry for me. • His glasses, which are essential for his daily life. • My laptop charger, which I rely on for work but now cannot use, leaving me unable to fulfill my professional responsibilities. • Clothing that I had recently purchased and had not yet worn, which I saved for over time to afford. This situation has caused me immense stress, depression, and anxiety. Your staff’s handling of the matter has only exacerbated my distress. They were rude, dismissive, and refused to take accountability for their actions. Instead, they attempted to shift the blame onto me for a mistake clearly made by Malaysia Airlines staff. One male staff member even screamed at me, reducing me to tears and further intensifying my anxiety. I was repeatedly pointed to different personnel, none of whom were able or willing to provide assistance. The lack of professionalism, compassion, and accountability demonstrated by your staff is deeply disappointing. This ordeal has affected not only me but also my husband, whose fragile health has been further compromised by the stress of this situation. As the days pass, I am losing hope that my luggage will ever be recovered, and the excitement and happiness I should be feeling on this trip to see my family after a long time have been completely overshadowed by this traumatic experience. As a result of this incident and the way it was handled, I will never use Malaysia Airlines again. This experience has completely shattered my trust in your airline’s ability to provide a professional, reliable, and customer-centric service. I strongly urge Malaysia Airlines to take immediate action to address this matter. Specifically, I request: 1. A full investigation into the whereabouts of my missing hand carry luggage. 2. A sincere apology for the rude and unprofessional behavior exhibited by your staff. 3. Compensation for the financial and emotional damages caused by this incident. This experience has left me disillusioned with Malaysia Airlines. I trusted your airline to provide a safe and professional travel experience, but instead, I have been met with negligence and indifference. I hope you will take this complaint seriously and ensure that such incidents do not happen to any other passengers in the future. I look forward to your prompt response and resolution of this matter.
