Birmingham Airport-Ryanair forced to check in our carryons
Our carryon bags met the required criteria which we checked before hand online. The criteria did not mention that the measurements include the wheels of the bag as well. We were a large group including kids and it was quite annoying having to check in so many bags and pay such a huge amount right before boarding. Ryanair should have checked the bags before hand so that we couldβve sent our bags back with our family instead of paying unnecessary amount of fees. When we came TO Birmingham via Ryanair they lost one of our bags which needed up being in Romania. We did not file any complaint on this matter and were accommodating with the airline as they brought back our bag 4 days later. This experience has been very unprofessional on Ryanairβs part and we will not be flying with this airline again.- Birmingham-Dublin

The reason given for the flight cancellation was adverse weather. However, other than flights operated normally in spite of delays. Weather conditions at time of departure after delay were optimal. The flight was only cancelled after a two hours delay.- Brussels-Schonefeld

I booked the wrong date of my return flight. Ryanair state that you have a 24 hour grace period to change flights. I rang the customer care to do this and they told me this was not possible due to a discount applied on flights. I then asked to cancel the flight they also said this was not possible. I asked to speak to a supervisor and they told me I could not.- Shannon-Tenerife

Delayed flight at SCQ to Dublin. Missed my next flight
My flight from SCQ to Dublin was delayed by 1hr 25 mins. Due to land at 6.30pm but landed at 7.40pm. I had another flight booked with Ryanair at 8.30pm to Bristol. I got to check in 40 mins before flight. The lad on the check in desk radioed baggage to see if they could still take my baggage. I was stood there for 20 mins with no reply from baggage. The 'customer care team' lad said to go to security at departures. I ran there and security said that check in know that they can't put luggage of a certain size through the SCANNER. I ran back to check in, and all he said was I'd now missed the flight and told me to go to the tickets desk to book another one. The girl at the ticket desk was so rude. I asked her if there were any flights to Bristol, or Exeter or Newquay. She told me to look online. I asked her if there were any airport hotels, she shrugged and said I don't know! Absolutely no customer care. I had to purchase a new flight for the next day and go to a hotel that cost β¬190. When I got to check in the next day I, was then charged β¬55 to check in because I hadn't done it online. To print out the border pass for this cost is extortionate!! I will never fly with Ryanair again- Santiago-Dublin

MAD - Rude treatment at check-in counter
This is my first time flying Ryanair. Their email didnβt specify I had to check in online to avoid paying a check in fee - nowhere was it mentioned. Since I had bags to check in, I assumed there is no need to check in online as I have to head to the check in counter anw. They charged me 30β¬ for printing the boarding pass!!! I asked kindly if they could waive the fee given I have never traveled with Ryanair and the employee declined with an abhorrent attitude. I then ask if itβs possible to check in a bag for 23 kg instead of 20kg to avoid having a small bag of 3 kg with me all the time (I paid for 10kg onboard) and the response was again a no with a very condescending attitude. What made things 100 times worse than having to pay for a boarding pass was that employees attitude.

Weather conditions
There was a flight earlier from Rome to Edinburgh that was diverted due to βadverse weather conditionsβ, so the next flight (Edinburgh to Bologna) was delayed, meaning my flight (Bologna to Edinburgh) was delayed. I believe that there shouldβve been something in place to ensure my flight wasnβt delayed, I should have arrived back in my own house at 22:30, and I didnβt make it back in my house until 04:45.- Bologna-Edinburgh

Technical problems
Dear Sir/Madam, On June 16, 2024, my flight FR6014 from Eindhoven Airport, The Netherlands to Sofia Airport, Bulgaria, was delayed by 5 hours and 30 minutes, according to the latest update on the platform. Subsequently, the flight disappeared completely from the app overview, and I could no longer find any information about it for that day. In order to get to my destination in time because it was important to me, I decided to book another flight with a different airline for 2 days later. Such a short notice booking, of course, has cost me much more than it would've cost me normally and I lost 2 days of my holiday because of the delay. According to EU Regulation 261/2004, I am entitled to compensation for this delay. I have attempted to submit my compensation claim through Ryanair's official website multiple times, but the form submission process consistently fails due to technical issues. The system consistently states that the flight was not delayed by more than 3 hours, which is incorrect. Furthermore, I have contacted Ryanair's customer support via email on several occasions, but their responses have been unhelpful, repeatedly directing me to the non-functional link. My last email, sent on July 10 to inquire about the status of my request, remained unanswered until July 31, 2024, when I was informed, and I quote, "As you did not board the above-mentioned flight, we regret to advise that you are not entitled to compensation under Regulation EU 261/2004.β I explained to them that I did not board the delayed flight because Ryanair failed to provide me with the necessary information regarding the flightβs status. This lack of communication prevented me from boarding the flight through no fault of my own. Consequently, I find their refusal to grant compensation under Regulation 261/2004 unfounded, as I'm also not required to board the plane to get compensated, nor am I required to agree to their vouchers. Additionally, my sister, who was booked on the same flight with her partner and their child, has already received confirmation that their compensation would be transferred to her on July 7, 2024. They have since received the compensation. We were together and were not transported on the supposed flight, for which we received no information. I am including the email communication my sister, Ivana Zaharieva, has had with Ryanair in this letter. Attempts to Resolve: - Email Correspondence: Attached are copies of the emails exchanged with Ryanair customer support. - Screenshots: Attached are screenshots of the error messages encountered on Ryanair's website. Given Ryanair's failure to provide a functioning compensation claim process and their inadequate customer support, I am seeking your assistance in resolving this matter. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your assistance in achieving a fair resolution. Sincerely, Hristina Zaharieva- Eindhoven-Sofia

charged late check-in fee while the site was down (Raynair)
We were charged a late checkin fee because we couldnt load the website of raynair. Our flight was delayed as well so we expected to be in time to receive help at the airport but instead they charged us 110euros (2persons). Problems at airport
The airline rejected my request, by saying that it was not their fault for the flight cancellation, because it happened due to a technical issue at the airport side and not on their side.- Schonefeld-Podgorica

They have claimed to other customers that it was a bird strike but we dispute that because at no point were we told this was the case. We were told it was a minor technical fault along with many other things, but never a bird strike. The service we received in the airport was appalling and we genuinely thought the flight was cancelled because no one would communicate with us and all flight information was removed from the boards.- Palma de Mallorca-Birmingham

At first the flight was said to be delayed due to a storm within the area, this delay was only notified by no more than 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time [9:30 pm local time], a rescheduled time of 10:30 pm was then set back by an hour then two with no information on what was happening with the delay, a rescheduled time of 1:30 - 2:00 am was then published, after waiting in a queue for half an hour or a bit longer, we were notified that the flight would not take off and that the new time would be 5:30 am, 8 hours after the scheduled departure time. When fully boarded either the captain of the flight or chief air attendant had said that they donβt know what our flight was delayed as they were phoned in to operate this flight. After a couple of hours of the delay Ryanair did offer a 4 euro discount within the airport at specific stalls.- Barcelona-Edinburgh

We were charged unfairly for cabin bags
We flew out to Lanzarote with no problems. Cases were checked in and cabin bags were sized. On our return home we were greeted by very rude representatives at lanzarote airport and Β£40 per cabin bag was demanded, or we were not going to be allowed on board. We showed evidence of non-charges for the same cases on our outbound flight where no such charge was made. We flew to France with Ryanair just a couple of months previous and again no charge was made when cases were checked. The whole experience for me, my wife and young family was very poor. My wife suffers with IBS and the way we were treated caused an attack the made the whole journey home seriously uncomfortable for her. These cases have been checked many times before and had zero issues. They were purchased because they are advertised as 'compliant with cabin bag regulations' for all the major airlines and indeed Ryanair are named on the list. We have been left very disappointed by this. I have emailed Ryanair and been ignored......I don not intend to fly with them ever again unless this is rectified.- Arrecife-London

Flight was redirected to Krakow, replacement bus was provided to take back to Modlin - almost 5h drive. Modlin airport is far away from Warsaw with limited busses. One bus we had tickets we were to late, all other busses had no free tickets. Our flight was supposed to leave the airport at 9:10 am. It was delayed until 3:30 am the next day. I have health issues and my friend is pregnant making it impossible to wait in the airport for 18 hours. We therefore had to go home and miss our holiday and lose out on the money we spent on our hotel. The airline told us the we would be given 220 pounds for compensation. I asked at the desk if we had to take the flight to get the compensation and they said we did not have to and would get compensation either way. Forced to pay baggage fee when we had already paid
I was very upset with the treatment for yesterdayΒ΄s flight from Barcelona to Lisbon. When I checked in the attendant reviewed our baggage and advised that between my wifeΒ΄s upgraded ticked to include extra luggage and my ticket, that our baggage would align with the baggage requirements and allowances. However, when we were at the gate, a separate person gave me a hard time and made my wife was forced to pay $46 for a bag. ~ Worse, this same attendant, who was asian (only being mentioned to help identify her) also challenged a middle aged woman who had 4 bags on her person. She was told she need to reduce to 2 bags; she was only able to reduce to 3 bags, but she was allowed to board with 3 bags--I have picture evidence to this affect--without having to pay. This is completely unacceptable. The girl who reviewed our baggage when I checked my main bag which was paid for in advance was also at the gate and she said she didnΒ΄t understand why we were being harassed and apologized but said there was nothing she could do. I am requesting a refund of the $46.00 that my wife, MaryCeu Nunes was unnecessarily forced to pay. Booking Number: KIHCSY

Aircraft Seat 6A Filthy
Hi, I boarded the flight in Verona, last night. When I got to seat 6A, I noticed the seat area and window filthy. There was food on the floor, coins, rubbish, lotto cards etc. The window was also disgusting with food stuck to the window. I was on a wedding anniversary trip to Italy with my wife and was very disappointed with the lack of cleanliness of the aircraft. As a customer who always uses Ryanair, again I was disappointed and annoyed when I show the flight attendant. He looked and said, sorry, it mustβve have been cleaned-clearly the case. My flight FROM Bucharest (OTP) to London Stansted on 03/07/2024 (Flight No. FR1008) was delayed for two hours and I waited at the gate. I was given the gate number by a Ryanair employee and the same gate number was stated in the official Ryanair application. However, the company changed the gate number last minute and due to this I lost my flight. I was very close to the correct gate so had I know about the change I would have had plenty of time to board. The Ryanair application was not updated with the right gate and the change was not announced on the intercom, nor was I mentioned for 'last call'. If this had happened it would have been impossible to hear it due to the extreme crowds at the gate as there were multiple Ryanair delayed flights in the same place. As a result, I had to buy a ticket with a different airline and wait for 7 more hours (in addition to the 4 hours I had already waited) in the airport to make it home and lost additional money on transport from the airport. This whole ordeal has caused an immense amount of physical exhaustion and distress. As someone with a learning disability I already find travelling extremely stressful but I do my best to plan ahead. However, the airline's lack of care and support caused great mental anguish that could have been avoided. Moreover, I will also financially suffer from this because the extra expenses have taken me into my overdraft and even if I receive a full refund, my credit score will have been affected as claims take time to process.- Bucharest-London

My flight FROM London Stansted TO Bucharest (OTP) on 26/06/2024 (Flight No. FR1007) was delayed by more than 4 hours and the staff of the aircraft kept us on board for this time rather than disembark us. They gave us to option to disembark but with no possibility of reembarking. This meant, we were packed in a hot airplane, with multiple toddlers and babies for hours which lead to me becoming sick and throwing up on the plane. The delay also caused me to arrive at my accommodation at 1 am. As a woman, walking by myself at night in a city I don't know was terrifying and led to me having a panic attack due to being catcalled and followed on the street. I purposely booked my flight to arrive at my destination during daytime when it's safer but this delay made it pointless. Moreover, I was charged at the airport for a 20kg bag when I could have easily made into a 10kg bag and be charged less but I was not given that option.- London-Bucharest

Check in desk lady rude, unhelpful and racist in Athens Air.
The lady on the desk was speaking with English words to my mum who only speaks Greek. She was asking for her boarding pass while my mum has a visa and she gets the boarding pass from the check in desk (check in was done online). She was asking where is she going, my mum was saying London and she could pronounce Stansted so she was saying Sanset and the lady was shouting on my mum that she has to know better where sheβs flying to, making her shy about her pronouncing. A complete discrimination!!! She didnβt ask her for her passport so she could check on the system her details but instead she was just sitting on the desk and making my mum feel uncomfortable in front of a long queue. At the end a guy behind my mum stood in front and he help giving the passport to the lady and asking her doing her job properly cause they were waiting there for nothing. My mums experience travelling alone with ryanair staff was a trauma for her and this is unacceptable for an international company to have this kind of behaviour to its passengers.- Athens-London

Denied Boarding
We arrived at the boarding desk at 6.06am and our flight was due to depart at 6.30am. We were denied boarding despite arriving at the airport two and an half hours before departure. The airplane was still on the runway and there were opportunities to allow us time to board. We had to watch as our luggage was removed from the plane (would have been quicker to let us on)! We were also held up at the check in Ryan air desks upon arrival (multiple self help machines were out of order to check in which caused extended time in queues). Further more once we had found one that worked there was no paper to print the labels for the luggage. Also lengthy queues and waiting at security. The two flight attendants at the boarding desk were extremely rude; they just said βitβs tough!β Also to be told that itβs not their problem and everyone else made it on time was appalling customer service. I donβt think I have ever been spoken to in such a rude manner despite being amicable in such a stressful situation. We didnβt stop for drinks, shopping etc in the departure lounge. This resulted in a family of four having to buy additional tickets (4 in total) and a hefty taxi fare to London Heathrow so that we could still go on our holiday. The taxi driver informed us that this is a familiar situation that he observes up to 20 times a day, all resulting with Ryan air customers. He advised us not to fly with Ryan air in the future. All in all very disappointing. I would hope above all that the staff employed could be trained in their customer service skills going forward, empathy and compassion lacking on all levels. Such a shame that I didnβt make a note of the names of the two ladies on the desk on Sunday 28th July.- London-Preveza

Boarding staff called me stupid
Hi. I haven't flown out of the country in over 15 years. This morning when boarding there was some confusion with the liquid regulations. I tried to do what I was told twice, but still was incorrect. The person on the first baggage check and the second person who searched my bags and told me I would have to leave some of my things London and collect on the way home. I completely understand rules and was trying to follow them. Unfortunately the staff were shouting at me and called me "stupid"and an "idiot" several times. My flight was due to leave Dublin at 21:25 on Thursday 1st of August. The flight time kept being changed adding another hour later each time. Eventually at 1 am we were checked in and made our way to the plane. We stood on the tarmac until 2:10 am looking at the plane only to be told the flight wasnβt going as they needed to get new crew as the crew and pilot were over their hours. We were then told that the flight was cancelled and we would hopefully fly the next morning. We were then told that we had to leave where we were and go out to arrivals. No Ryanair staff at any time throughout that evening/night were available to answer questions. We went out to arrivals and had to then go back to departures to get a new boarding card. No accommodation was offered. We were told to go upstairs to the sears to get some sleep. This was now 3:30am. At 7am we had to go back to departures and go through security etc again. The above flight was significantly delayed, well beyond the 3-hour window. During the delay period, Ryanair shared little or no information, either with the passengers or their ground staff on what was going on. Even the airport flight notification boards provided no information on the delay to the flight, and at one point we went through boarding control, only to retrospectively be turned back into the boarding area of the airport. Online notifications were given after 4PM disclosing that the flight would be delayed until 8PM, information which never appeared on the airport flight boards. A later online notification came through suggesting a delay to 19.30 hrs, which was later superseded by a new notification saying "Status Pending". This latest notification included a note saying, "Our operations team is working hard to update your flight status. As soon as we have an update we will send you a push notification." Due to the lack of any information beyond a brief statement at one point the flight "...is delayed due to a minor technical issue...", we were given no opportunity to pursue alternative arrangements for flights or local accommodation. In the end, over 3-hours after the original departure time, we were ushered through the departure gate, on to the plane which eventually took off after 21.15 hours. I would therefore like to seek compensation from Ryanair under the EU delayed flight compensation directive. Ryanair have refused to honour this as they are now retrospectively suggesting that the delay was caused by a previous bird strike, information that was never shared at the time. We eventually arrived home at 04.00 hrs on Monday morning. We have now sought legal advice and input from the Europe Direct Contact Centre. A minor technical problem with the plane (as described in the online Ryanair notification during our protracted wait in the Palma airport) is normally not considered to be an extraordinary circumstance. The assessment of whether or not there were extraordinary circumstances is made on a case-by-case basis. As per the EU Law directive we are entitled to receive compensation if the arrival at their final destination with a delay of at least 3 hours. This compensation varies between EUR 250 and EUR 600 depending on the length of the flight and the length of delay compared to the scheduled arrival time of the original flight. We would therefore like to claim this compensation for the extended delay for our Palma to Birmingham flight on the 7th July 2024,- Palma de Mallorca-Birmingham

This claim should be merged with #293400 and #293357 because we are a family travelling together, but the RyanAir tickets were bought on two reservations and we have two booking codes. The costs of hotel, transfer to hotel are for the whole family and are not included in this claim (but are included in #293357). This claim included the cost of the original RyanAir tickets for two people (Popa Irina and Popa Matei Andrei), as well as the alternate flight tickets cost for Popa Irina and Popa Matei Andrei. We are a family of four, returning from Paris to Bucharest. We bought our RyanAir tickets separated - there are two reservations on the same flight: LFRYJL for Popa Adrian and Popa Teodor Costin, and UMFKUW for Popa Irina and Popa Matei Andrei. We arrived at Beauvais Airport on time, went through security clearance on time, and then we were delayed on the runway, waiting to board the plane, in the sun, for about 30 minutes. We were returned to the airport for about 15 minutes and told by the staff that the replacement crew was not complete - they were waiting for somebody. After this we boarded the plane and waited for about 1h30 in the plane (we were already delayed). We received a message that we had a 4β¬ voucher each for food that we could use in the airport. The pilot announced that they were delayed, and we'd take off around 18:00, then around 20:00. At the last call the pilot announced that the flight was canceled and asked us to disembark. This was around 19:00. We were returned to the airport terminal and left without information, waiting in queue to get to talk to an airport representative. Calling RyanAir support hotline got us nowhere - there was no human to talk to. The Airport staff only handed out a piece of paper with the European directive 261/2004, without other help. If we tried to reschedule the flight with the RyanAir app, the next available flight was 7 days away (on July 3rd). This was not an option, having kids with us, so we had to buy other tickets (the cheapest we could find were the following day), and to buy accomodation for one night (we chose to return to the hotel we knew in Paris, because the new flight was from CDG Airport anyway). The kids were alarmed and worried that we wouldn't arrive home. We had to change our plans as well, and get an extra day of vacation from work. Thank you.- Beauvais-Bucharest

When boarding, the Ryanair manager said that I needed to pay the extra fee because I had 10kg of luggage with me. I mentioned that I had already paid extra when I bought the ticket and she told me that I needed to ship it. I then asked for it to be shipped and they told me they couldn't and charged me 60Π.
