More than 500 aviation professionals from over 40 countries gathered in Rome this June to debate where air travel is heading and AirAdvisor was in the room.

Francesca Coppola represented AirAdvisor at the 13th Air Law Conference, held on 18 and 19 June 2026 at the Parco dei Principi Grand Hotel in Rome. The conference is organised by Pierallini Studio Legale, this year in cooperation with McGill University, Luiss University and ENAC, and has become one of the leading international forums for air transport law.

The two days brought together institutions, aviation authorities, airlines, airports, manufacturers, insurers and specialist lawyers from five continents. The agenda looked hard at the forces reshaping the industry: the impact of artificial intelligence on aviation and the liability and insurance questions it raises, geopolitical instability, supply chain disruption and aircraft shortages, accessibility, and the future of ESG and sustainability in air transport.

Passenger protection sat right alongside those themes, which is exactly why it mattered for us to be there. The rules that decide whether a stranded passenger gets looked after, re-routed, or compensated are written and reshaped in rooms like this one, often years before travellers feel the effect.

Laura Pierallini, who organises the conference, argued that the sector needs more uniform global regulation to support its growth. That push for harmonisation speaks directly to a problem AirAdvisor sees every day: a passenger's rights still depend heavily on where they flew from and which regime applies, and the gaps between those regimes are where claims get lost.

Conferences like this are where the future of passenger rights gets argued out. Being part of that conversation is how AirAdvisor stays ahead of the rules, so we can keep getting passengers what they are owed when their journey goes wrong.
