We scheduled a flight and bought tickets from Forli to Mostar on May 14th 2023 via site gotofly.it. Flight was scheduled for May 23th 2023 7.00 AM, flight number XZ810. Totally it was 4 of us, 3 grownups and one infant. On May 17th 2023 we received email with information that flight is rescheduled to May 23th 2023 12.00. At the airport we received information that flight is delayed to 13.30. By time this information changed and flight was additionally delayed to 17.00. We received vouchers for food for grownups, but not for the baby. At 17.30, after we passed security check and passport control, we were informed by airport crew staff that flight is cancelled. Firstly they told us that the flight will be next day and that we will be provided by accommodation and transport to hotel. Later they told us that next flight will not be next day, but on May 27th i.e. four days later and that hotel and transport to hotel will not be organized, but that we organize on our own. Since our vacation expired, we organized by our selves to transport to Mostar. We took taxi, then bus, then train, then bus to Zagreb and took flight next day from Zagreb to Mostar. Additional costs are as follows: food Forli airport 7,00 € (debit card receipt); taxi from Forli airport to bus station: 12,00€ (paid by cash, no invoice provided); bus from Forli to Faenza: 7,50€ (paid by cash, no invoice provided); train from Faenza to Bologna 15,60€ (debit card receipt); train from Bologna to Venice: 117,00 € (debit card receipt); dinner in Venice: 45€ (no invoice provided); bus from Venice to Zagreb: 159,96 € (debit card receipt); bus from Zagreb bus station to Zagreb airport: 24,00 € (paid by cash, bus card attached); flight from Zagreb to Mostar: 304,02 €; absent from job 1 day Aldiana 40,36 € (salary list); absent from job 1 day Jasmin 152,33 € (salary list); absent from job Mirsad 51,13 € (confirmation from employer). Total additional costs: 935,90 €. Total value of the claim: 1935,90 € This was extremely exhausting especially since we were with baby (1y7m old). We were in Mostar around 12.00 next day.

Upon arrival at the airport to check in, i was informed that the flight had been cancelled. i was not notified in advance of this cancellation, which caused significant inconvenience. i immediately attempted to contact the airline for assistance, however, i was unable to reach customer support. i had to take a bus from Comiso to Catania in order to catch another bus from Catania to Bologna, it was such a hustle for me. No prior communication provided from the company about any cancellation.

am writing to formally request an immediate refund for my flight, which Aeroitalia canceled without providing any prior notice. This unexpected cancellation caused significant disruption to my travel plans, including financial and emotional distress. Under international aviation regulations, particularly those outlined in the Montreal Convention and EU Regulation 261/2004, passengers are entitled to compensation and a full refund in the event of flight cancellations without adequate notice or alternative arrangements. Aeroitalia’s failure to notify me of the cancellation violated these regulations and left me without any immediate recourse. As a result, I had to pay out of pocket for an alternative flight to avoid missing a critical connection to Australia. This not only caused additional expenses but also unnecessary stress and the potential risk of missing my long-haul flight. I am requesting a refund for the canceled flight, as well as reimbursement for the extra costs incurred to secure another ticket. Failure to address this matter promptly may leave me with no choice but to escalate this complaint to the relevant aviation authorities and consumer protection bodies. I expect your response within 14 days, including details of the refund and any additional compensation as required under the applicable laws.
