What do you do when you’ve had a bad experience with TAROM? Many travellers don’t realise that they can voice their dissatisfaction to the airline. Others don’t think complaining will make a difference. Here, we’ll give you TAROM’s contact information and explain what you can do to get compensated for your trouble.

What Can You Complain About?

Anything you want! But certainly, some issues are more complaint-worthy than others. For example, if you’ve been on the receiving end of a rude airline employee, if the cabin was dirty, or if you had a broken or uncomfortable seat, then you should definitely write to TAROM to let them know. 

Other complaints, especially ones related to flight disruptions like delays and cancellations, have a better chance of resulting in a compensation payout.

TAROM Passenger Rights

As an airline in the European Union, TAROM must comply with Regulation EU261. It states, among other things, that airlines must pay you between €250 and €600 (£220 to £520) for any flight disruption lasting 3 or more hours. 

The Montreal Convention also protects your passenger right, particularly for mishandled baggage. These rules require airlines to compensate you for as much as €1,600 (£1,100) for lost, damaged or delayed luggage.

Dear Sir Madam I hope this message finds you well. My name is Yana Syrbu, and I am currently residing in Istanbul, Turkey. I am writing to request your assistance regarding a lost baggage claim with TAROM Romanian Air Transport. On September 7,2024 I traveled on TAROM flights RO 608 (Timisoara to Bucharest) and RO 265 (Bucharest to Istanbul). Upon arrival at Istanbul Airport, I discovered that one of my four checked baggage items was missing. Despite filing a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) at the airport (file number ISTRO15564/07SEP24/2054GMT), it has now been 21 days, and my baggage has not been located.

Loss: 2000 EUR

Delays on the flights. 1st plane was not first youth. Broken seats, poor quality spaces, toilets not really cleaned. Flights provided with strict minimum. No "compensation" for the 1h10 delay.

I was informed 2 hours before the flight that the departure will be delayed and I have realized that my connection in Otopeni (to Iasi) will be affected by this delay. I had to contact my travel agency and spend 1 hour to search for an alternative. I had to spend the night in Otopeni, as the next flight to Iasi was the next day and I slept only 4 hours that night due to this incident. I have also lost my hotel reservation in Iasi for 28 Aug 2024. I have paid additional service fees to the travel agency and for the taxi.

Problems at airport

Doresc sa va informez ca in data de 08.07.2024, am avut o rezervare pentru un zbor catre Madrid, pentru mine si sotia mea, pentru o minivacanta. Zborul ar fi trebuit sa fie operat de compania Tarom cu plecare din aeroportul Otopeni, Romania. Detaliile biletelor sunt: Zbor RO0415, Nr. Bilete: 057231981265 / 6, rezervare M7BEDL. Ora progarmata a zborului a fost 08:10. In aeroport am fost informati ca zborul a fost anulat datorita faptului ca unii dintre piloti au motivat o stare de sanatate precara si nu sunt apti pentur a efectua zborurile programate.. Am mers la birourile Tarom din aeroportul Henri Coanda, unde ni s-a oferit varianta plecarii prin Zurich cu compania aeriana Swiss International air lines, operat de AIR BALTIC, iar apoi catre Madrid, zbor operat de compania aeriana IBERIA, varianta pe care am acceptat-o. Zborul catre Zurich a fost programat pentru ora 16:10, iar catre Madrid la ora 19:40. In tot acest timp, intre orele 08:00 – 16:10, nu ni s-a oferit acces la launge, nu ni s-a oferit nici macar un pahar cu apa sau un sandwich din partea companiei. Pur si simplu am fost lasati sa ne descurcam cum putem intr-un interval de 8 ore. Zborul catre zurich a decurs normal, zborul catre Madrid a fost intarziat o ora si jumatate. Am aterizat la Madrid la ora 21:30 dar bagajele noastre nu au ajuns. Am fost la biroul baggage claim al companiei IBERIA unde am depus o plangere inregistrata cu nr: MADIB64624, 08.JUL.24 2149GMT. Asadar, urmatoarea zi am fost nevoiti sa ne cumparam toate cele necesare (haine, sapun, periute de dinti, sampon, etc). Bagajele ne-au sosit la hotel dupa doua zile, in data de 10.Jul.2024, in jurul orei 15:30. As dori sa va rog sa ma ajutati in aceasta problema, sa imi recuperez milele cu care am platit biletele mele si sotiei sis a fiu despagubit pentru tot disconfortul avut. Va multumesc pentru intelegere si astept raspunsul dumneavoastra.
