Passengers who’ve dealt with Norse Atlantic cancellations and delays know just how frustrating it can be. And as airline compensation experts going back to 2017, we understand and can help you navigate the Norse Atlantic compensation process effortlessly. With a 98% success rate and over 430,000 happy customers, there’s no better partner out there.

To make sure you have all the information and options, we’ve gathered all the pertinent details relating to the Norse Atlantic cancellation policy. We’ll also clearly explain the compensation guidelines, steps to filing a claim on your own, and offer expert tips to keep things running smoothly.

Key Takeaways for Norse Atlantic Compensation

  • In Europe, regulations govern Norse Atlantic Airways flights that depart or arrive in the UK or the EU. The compensation maximum is £520 (€600) when certain conditions are met.
  • To qualify, UK and EU flights must be delayed by at least 3 hours or cancelled within fewer than 14 days, and in both cases, the disruption cause must be preventable by the airline.
  • Other perks of the regulations include the right to assistance during Norse Atlantic delays or cancellations, which includes meals, communication, and even hotels.
  • The 6-month average for Norse Atlantic on-time arrivals is 64%, and the average flight cancellation rate is only 0.167%.
  • Passengers who no longer want to travel due to a significant delay or a cancellation often have the right to a full Norse Atlantic refund.
  • Filing a Norse Atlantic compensation claim yourself takes a lot of time and energy, so if you want to avoid this annoyance, remember that AirAdvisor is available to help at any stage of the process.

Filing Your Own Claim – The Norse Atlantic Delay Compensation Steps

Although AirAdvisor can make the process easy, you can still file your claim independently. Here’s what to do:

  1. Start by familiarizing yourself with your air passenger rights. We have a free calculator that will check eligibility and let you know the maximum Norse Atlantic compensation to strive for.
  2. You can't contact the airline by phone – they don't have a phone line. You’ll need to use the online claim form on the Support page. Click “Register my claim,” then “Start,” and then follow the prompts.
  3. Submit once all the necessary info has been entered, and be prepared to follow up at least weekly until it’s resolved.
  4. Airlines don’t like to pay compensation as a rule, so you may be in for a fight. Escalate to Norse management or bodies like the UK Civil Aviation Authority.
  5. No response or an unreasonable outcome? Lean on AirAdvisor’s expertise to get the job done. Starting a claim with us only takes a few minutes, and then you’re free to move on to planning your next trip.

In September 2024, Norse Atlantic expanded its use of the platform Swiipr to the US market. This digital passenger compensation payments system, already being used in Europe, allows for real-time payouts at certain airports. In a statement, the Norse Atlantic Customer Care Manager, Tanguy Le Meur, stated:

We have been really impressed with the ease of use of Swiipr’s solution in our European operations, and it was a natural progression to expand this into the US.

Summary of the EU and UK Flight Delay Compensation Regulations

Even though Norse Atlantic is based in Norway (not an EU member country), Regulation EU261 still applies. In the wake of Brexit, the UK adopted basically the same rules, referred to as Regulation UK261. They are interchangeable, so using the UK rules as a guide, you may be eligible for a max of £520 if:

  • The delay time upon arrival at the destination is 3 hours or more.
  • The airline could have reasonably prevented the delay.

The Norse Atlantic delay compensation you can claim depends on the length of the delay and the flight distance. As a low-cost. long-haul airline, most Norse Atlantic flights will fall into the highest distance category (over 3,500km). Check out these examples:

Extra Norse Atlantic Compensation

Cash isn’t the only thing you can claim when flights are delayed. To keep you comfortable at the airport, Norse Atlantic is required to offer a combination of communication access, meals, and drinks, plus hotel stays and transportation to and from the hotel (overnight delays) when flights are delayed by:

  • 2 hours or more for flights 1,500km or less
  • 3 hours or more for flights between 1,500km and 3,500km
  • 4 hours or more for flights over 3,500km

And, once your flight reaches the 5-hour delay threshold, the Norse Atlantic refund policy will kick in, and you can choose full reimbursement instead of continued travel.

  1. Re-book your flight as soon as possible by speaking to agents at the airport or going online to manage your booking.
  2. When no suitable alternative flight is available, opt for a Norse Atlantic refund.
  3. For continued travel, exercise your right to refreshments and hotel accommodations (plus transportation) for overnight delays.
  4. Get the cancellation reason from the staff at the airport, you will need it to make a Norse Atlantic compensation claim later on.
  5. Keep your documents handy and plan to submit a Norse Atlantic cancellation claim when you have time. You should be eligible for at-fault cancellations made within 14 days or fewer from the departure time. It’s the same claim form as for Norse Atlantic delays.

The Norse Atlantic Cancellation Policy – Getting Your Money Back

The Norse Atlantic cancellation policy offers a 24-hour cancellation period. You can get a full Norse Atlantic refund within 24 hours of your flight booking, provided the travel is a minimum of 7 days away.

Other than that, the Norse Atlantic cancellation policy is extremely limited. None of the fare types allow for a cash refund after the first 24 hours. Only Economy Flextra and Premium Flextra permit passengers to cancel their flight within 2 days of departure for a travel credit. No cash is refunded, and the voucher is good for 12 months.

Norse Atlantic Missed Connections & Denied Boarding

Regulation UK 261 also offers protection against missed connections. The maximum compensation is the same – £520. This applies when an at-fault delay or cancellation results in a missed connection and ultimately delays a passenger to the final destination.

Even if the airline isn’t at fault, they are required to find you a replacement flight or issue a refund. You’re also entitled to re-routing back to your starting point if your journey no longer makes sense.

Norse Airlines denied boarding compensation applies in the UK when the carrier isn’t able to get a passenger to the destination on time, and the maximum payout is again £520.

If your flight was delayed, canceled or overbooked within the last 3 years, you could be eligible for up to €600 in compensationCheck Your Flight

On the flip side, you can claim is the disruption is caused by things like:
