Czech Airlines’ route from Prague to Paris was punctual 75% of the time in April, 54% in March, and 48% in February. The airline has 110 destinations, but you can see how their on-time performance can be affected by seasonal weather patterns.
The carrier has a 3 of 5 rating on TripAdvisor and was given a 3-Star rating on SkyTrax, meaning that the airline is considered fair or average.
Czech Airlines Flight Delays
Most passengers would agree that a flight delay is one of the most irritating parts of air travel. As aggravating as it may be, passengers on Czech Airlines flights can at least enjoy some compensation if they depart from an EU or UK airport.
Did you know that if your Czech Airlines flight is delayed by 2 or more hours, then you should be offered care and assistance from the airline? This means that you should be given vouchers for meals and refreshments as well as free access to communication like 2 calls and emails. If you’re not, then make sure you keep your receipts so you can request reimbursement later.
If you have a situation that causes you to be delayed for 3 or more hours past your scheduled arrival time, then Czech Airlines is required to provide cash compensation. The sticking point with this is that they are only liable if they could have avoided or prevented the delay. For instance, if your disruption was caused by airline scheduling problems, or an airline strike, then they could have prevented the issue, so they must provide monetary compensation.
For delays that last 5 hours or more, the airline must help you by providing the choice of a refund or a rebooking. Not only that, but you may also be eligible for financial compensation as long as extraordinary circumstances weren’t at play.
Length of Delay | Compensation & Entitlements |
2+ hour delays | Meals, refreshments, and access to communication |
3+ hour delays | Cash compensation if the airline is at fault |
5+ hour delays | Option of rebooking or refund + potential cash compensation |

Czech Airlines Flight Cancellation
Cancelled flights are one of the worst nightmares any traveller can face, but again, as long as you’re departing from or arriving at an EU or UK airport, your rights are protected by these regional laws. Here’s how it works:
Flights cancelled with less than14-days notice: Czech Airlines must offer you a rebooking or a full refund. If you choose to be rebooked on an alternate flight but have to wait 2 or more hours for that flight to depart, then you are entitled to the care and assistance we discussed earlier. It also means that you should get free hotel accommodation and transport if your alternate flight is scheduled to leave the next day.
Cash compensation is also a possibility if Czech Airlines could have avoided or prevented the problem. This is why it’s so important to find out what caused your fight to be cancelled.
If airline staff tells you what happened, remember their name and write down what they say along with the date and time. Most importantly, remember to always be kind and respectful. The person giving you the information has no control of the flight disruption.
Flight Delays | Flight Cancellations | Denied Boarding |

Involuntary Denied Boarding on Czech Airlines Flights
As with most airlines, Czech Airlines will periodically oversell flights in order to prevent flying planes that are half full. So, to ensure that the flight is profitable, they will do this with the assumption that a percentage of passengers will not show up. But, what makes money for the carrier isn’t always ideal for passengers who are involuntarily denied boarding as a result.
If this happens to you, remember that you must be offered:
- A replacement flight or
- A refund and
- Cash compensation
We assume all legal costs
All you have to do is submit the application and wait for the compensation to be received.
Missed Connections
Sometimes delays, cancellations, and denied boarding situations can lead to missed connections. If you’re late to your connection and miss your flight as a result, you should be provided with an alternate flight to your next connecting point or to your final stop. If your flights were all on the same booking, then you may also get cash compensation if you arrive at your destination 3 or more hours later than you were supposed to.
Cash Compensation from Czech Airlines
The air passenger rights we’ve been referring to here are those found in the European Union Regulations EU261 and the UK’s 261. Both were designed to protect passengers from the difficulty and inconvenience caused by flight disruptions. We’ve mentioned cash compensation, so you might be wondering how much you could get from the airline.
You could get anywhere from €250 to €600 in cash compensation that is based on two factors:
- The length of your delay
- The total distance of your flight
The following table will help explain how much you could receive.
Delay Time | Flight Distance
Flights under 1,500km | Flights between 1,500-3,500km | Flights over 3,500km
Over 3 hours | €250 | €400 | €600* |
Under 3 hours | €0 |
* Czech Airlines might try to reduce this amount by as much as 50%, but AirAdvisor always works to get the full amount.
Extraordinary Circumstances
We also mentioned that the airline can avoid compensation payouts if the flight disruption was caused by extraordinary circumstances. So, what qualifies as events outside the airline’s control? Here’s a few of the more common examples:
- Airport strikes
- Severe weather
- Natural disasters
- Civil unrest
- Security threats
- Air traffic control restrictions
Don’t be too put off if you think your fight was affected by one of these events. First, ask the airline for written clarification about what caused your delay or cancellation. Then, collect all the relevant airline documents like your boarding pass and booking receipts as well as any receipts for out-of-pocket expenses. All this will help support your claim for compensation.

We were supposed to travel on a short flight to Paris with our kids. We ended up delayed 6 hours! The airline provided I believe a couple 10 euro vouchers for airport food. We arrived after midnight instead of at 2:15pm, meaning we missed the whole first day. Kids were hungry and tired. Service was awful. There WAS NO WEATHER PROBLEM. I tried to claim compensation after, and was written in SLOVAK (I do speak Czech) and sent only a voucher, for 1 person. I told them I did not want a voucher, that my family does not even live in Czech Republic. They never responded or helped me. I cannot find this voucher now, was never used. We spent an additional 65 euros on a taxi, since we could not use public transport to get into town so late at night. And we had to eat an expensive dinner at the hotel (Mama Shelter) since it was the only thing around open.
The flight was heavily delayed due to bad weather conditions. We were planned to fly out at 9 00, but actually flew at 14 00 approximately. We lost half of the day we planned at Prague.
Offloaded from plane OK 972 even if we were under last call and no annoumcement that they ll off load us from the plane. We lost 10h30mn blocked at Prague airport due to this offloading due to CZ airline when screens and even airport waiters guided us to plane counter boarding as plane from CDG was late. They offloaded me amd other passengers even if bus was in front of boarding counter
