Was your HiSky flight cancelled at the last minute? Maybe you’re wondering what you’re entitled to if your flight was delayed. As a fairly new airline, founded in 2020, HiSky has a dual identity. They fly under the names HiSky Moldova and HiSky Europe, but both operations must abide by the rules set out in the regions where they travel.
What does that mean for you as a passenger? Well, it means that you can expect the airline to help you and even compensate you for flight disruptions as long as certain conditions are met. Let’s take a look at what you’re entitled to, how to get compensated by HiSky, and when you’re owed a refund for flight delays and cancellations.
Compensation for HiSky Flight Delays
HiSky Europe is based in Romania, so the airline has to follow the laws of the EU and UK whenever it flies to, from, or within these regions. HiSky Moldova is a little different since Moldova is not part of the EU. Nonetheless, whenever they fly from an EU or UK airport, they must play by the regulations there.
The laws we’re talking about are air passenger rights regulations UK261 and EU261. Both of these mandate that HiSky must behave in certain ways when their flights are delayed.
If you’ve had a HiSky delayed flight, you can expect:
- As much as £520 (€600) if the delay makes you 3 hours late at arrival, and the airline is at fault. The actual amount you get will be based on the distance of your flight.
- Free meals, refreshments if you’re delayed by 2+ hours
- Hotel lodging and transport for overnight delays
- Flight refund or a new flight to your destination if your flight is delayed for 5 or more hours.
Compensation Amounts for HiSky Flight Disruptions
- If your flight was 1,500 km or less, you could get up to £220 (€250)
- For flights between 1,500 km and 3,500 km, you could receive £350 (€400)
- For long haul flights over 3,500 km you are owed £520 (€600) in compensation.
When you eventually land at your destination, write down the time the cabin doors were opened. This is the official arrival time, and noting this will help you later if you file a compensation claim with HiSky.

Compensation for Missed HiSky Connections
Miss your connecting flight? Here’s what you can expect from the airline
- HiSky must help you get to your final destination, so you will be offered a seat on the next available flight.
- If this doesn’t work for you, you can request a refund for any unused portions of your trip.
- You are entitled to meals and refreshments if you have to wait for 2+ hours.
- If you missed the connection because of an earlier HiSky delay or cancellation that could have been avoided or prevented, then you could also get cash compensation. How much can you get? It depends on how late you arrive at your final stop and the distance of the flight.
HiSky Compensation for Cancelled Flights
Cancelled flights can create more problems for passengers than delays. You have to scramble to find a suitable rebooking and wonder how the new departure could affect your overall travel plans.
Thankfully, you’ll be given a replacement flight or a refund. But you could also get cash compensation if your HiSky flight was cancelled less than 2 weeks before departure.
Additionally, if you’re at the airport when your flight is cancelled, you’re entitled to food, refreshments and hotel accommodation if you have to wait until the next day.
What about Your Checked Baggage?
Wondering what happens with your checked baggage if your flight was cancelled? Usually, it will be sent onward to your final destination, but if you have to wait overnight for your new flight, then you can ask the HiSky agent to let you collect your belongings from the baggage reclaim area.

What to Do if Your HiSky Flight is Cancelled
- First, ask a HiSky agent to help you rebook your flight if you haven’t already been sent rebooking information via the airline app or by SMS.
- If the rebooking is not suitable, ask for a full refund.
- Get the reason for the cancellation in writing to use later as part of your compensation claim.
- Request food, drinks, and lodging if you have an overnight wait.
- Find out if your flight is eligible for HiSky flight cancellation compensation, keep all your receipts and documents, and file a claim as soon as you get home.
How to Submit a Compensation Claim with HiSky
If you believe you’re owed a refund or compensation from HiSky, you’ll have to contact the airline in writing to request it. So, here are the steps you’ll need to take:
- Before you begin, check to see if your flight is eligible for compensation and the amount you are entitled to. This information will be helpful to include in your claim submission letter.
- Then, collect your flight and travel documents, communication you’ve had with HiSky, and as many details and supporting evidence for your flight disruption as possible. You’ll also need to include receipts for any expenses you had to make.
- Write a letter describing what happened and why you are seeking flight compensation. If you need help, you can use our compensation letter template.
- Then when you’re ready, upload all your supporting documents, and send your letter to cs@hisky.aero.
You might have to wait a week or so to hear back from HiSky, and it might take a month or more to get a decision about your compensation request.
