Delayed, damaged, or lost baggage on Transavia Airlines? Under the Montreal Convention, you could be owed up to €1,920 in compensation. We handle everything — you just submit your details.

Transavia is a major Dutch low-cost airline, operating flights from several UK airports including Gatwick, Luton, Manchester, Birmingham, and Edinburgh to holiday destinations across Europe and beyond. But what happens if your suitcase doesn’t appear on the baggage belt?
As a Transavia passenger, you are protected by international law, specifically the Montreal Convention, which sets out your rights to compensation when airline mishandles your baggage.
If your baggage is mishandled, your rights are protected by the Montreal Convention. This international treaty sets the maximum liability that airlines like Transavia must pay when baggage is mishandled. Currently, the maximum compensation amount is about €1,920 (≈£1,650) per passenger, regardless of how valuable your luggage is.

At Gatwick, report lost or damaged baggage at the baggage services desk in the arrivals hall, usually run by the airline’s ground handling partner. A PIR (Property Irregularity Report) will be created for you, which is required for tracking and claims. Gatwick also has a Lost Property office run by Excess Baggage Company (open daily, +44 (0)1293 223457).
At Luton, Transavia passengers should report issues immediately at the baggage desk in the arrivals area before leaving the terminal. Lost property enquiries can be made via Luton’s Lost & Found partner, Luggage-Point (+44 (0)1582 405220).
At Manchester, baggage issues are handled at the airline’s baggage desk in the baggage reclaim area. The Lost Property office is managed by Excess Baggage Company and can be contacted at +44 (0)161 489 3463.
At Birmingham, baggage problems should be reported to the airline’s handling agent in arrivals. Lost Property is managed by Luggage-Point, located in the North Terminal. You can reach them by phone at +44 (0)121 767 7771.
At Edinburgh, baggage service desks are located in the arrivals hall. Lost Property enquiries are handled by Luggage-Point, reachable at +44 (0)131 344 3486.

When your baggage doesn’t appear on the carousel, it is first treated as delayed. If this happens, go straight to the baggage desk in arrivals and file a Property Irregularity Report (PIR). Without this, your claim will be denied. Also, keep the PIR number, as you’ll need it to track the status of your belongings.
Transavia’s tracing process works in two stages:
If your bag is found, it will be delivered to your home or hotel. In some countries, you may be asked to collect it yourself due to local rules.
If your bags are not recovered after 21 days, then they are considered to be lost.
If you have to buy essentials like toiletries and clothing while waiting for your bag, Transavia will reimburse you for these expenses as follows:
If your baggage has still not been found after 21 days, it is officially considered lost under the Montreal Convention’s rules. At this stage you can file a full compensation claim:
Compensation covers the actual value of your belongings, up to €1,920 (≈£1,650). Also, you have 2 years to file a formal Transavia claim.
If your baggage arrives damaged, report it immediately at the baggage desk in arrivals. You’ll need to complete a PIR and ideally take photos of the damage before you leave the airport.
If you only notice the damage later, you still have 7 days from arrival to report the damage via Transavia’s online claim form.
To file a Transavia damaged baggage claim, submit your PIR number, photos, and receipts for repairs or replacement on the airline’s website. You have up to 2 years to do this.
Compensation may cover repairs or a replacement if your bag cannot be fixed. Also, be advised that normal wear and tear (scratches, scuffs, minor dents) is not covered.

Checked baggage is covered by the Montreal Convention and Transavia’s compensation policies. Personal belongings left behind in the airport or on the plane are treated as Lost Property, not baggage claims.
For example, if you forget a laptop on board a Transavia flight arriving at Gatwick, you’ll need to contact Gatwick’s Lost Property service (Excess Baggage Company). The same applies at Luton, Manchester, Birmingham, or Edinburgh, each of which has its own Lost Property office.
Reimbursement for essentials during a delay usually takes 4–6 weeks if you include receipts and PIR details. On the other hand, a full lost baggage claim can take longer, sometimes several months, if additional documentation or details are required.
Be sure to keep your PIR reference to track the claim’s progress online. If you haven’t heard back within 30 days, follow up with Transavia or their ground handling agent.
