Your Passenger Rights with FlyDubai
Large, small, and even budget airlines are all subject to the rules and regulations of the EU and UK when departing from airports located in those regions. If you experience flight delays, cancellations, denied boarding from overbooking, or missed connections, you will be protected by UK regulation 261 and EU regulations 261
This means that as a passenger on FlyDubai flights, you’re entitled to certain provisions including:
- Food and drink

FlyDubai Delayed Flights
When you have a flight delay with FlyDubai, what you receive will depend largely on the duration of your delay. When your flight is delayed for at least 2 hours, then the airline must provide you with meals and refreshments.
You’re entitled to cash compensation when your delay is at least 3 hours long and caused by something that FlyDubai could have prevented like staffing issues.
Sometimes a delay might be especially long - the bane of any traveller. However, if your delay exceeds 5 hours then you must be offered a choice of an alternate flight or a full refund.
If you choose to not continue on your journey, then the airline must also pay for the unused parts of your booking as well as a return flight to your original point of departure.
You may also get cash compensation on top of these entitlements if your flight disruption was NOT caused by extraordinary circumstances.
FlyDubai Cancelled Flights
Regardless of what what caused your flight to be cancelled, FlyDubai must give you the following as mandated by EU and UK law.
For FlyDubai flights cancelled with less than 14 days notice, you must be offered:
- A rebooked flight or a refund
- Care and assistance if you have to wait at least 2 hours for you replacement flight
- Hotel accommodation and transport if you have to wait until the next day for departure
- Cash compensation if the airline is at fault for the cancelled flight
When FlyDubai cancels your flight with 2 weeks notice or more before departure, then you won’t be eligible for cash compensation, but you can still get refunded or rebooked.

Involuntary Denied Boarding & Missed Connections
When FlyDubai passengers are denied boarding because of oversales, they should be given:
- A replacement flight or
- A refund and
- Financial compensation
If you were denied boarding because of unruly behaviour, then the carrier is not liable for compensation.
Passengers of FlyDubai who miss a connecting flight because of earlier flight disruptions, may also get a replacement flight to their next connecting point or final destination. If the earlier delays were part of the same booking with FlyDubai, then you could also get financial compensation provided the airline was responsible for the delay or cancellation.
Cash Compensation: How Much Can You Get from FlyDubai
The amount of cash compensation you receive from FlyDubai depends on the number of hours you’re delayed past your originally scheduled arrival time and the distance of your journey. You could receive anywhere from €250 to €600.

What are Extraordinary Circumstances?
When a FlyDubai flight is cancelled or delayed because of extraordinary circumstances it means that they were unable to prevent or avoid the situation. Because of this, passengers are ineligible for monetary compensation, but they will still be given rebookings as well as care and assistance.
Examples of extraordinary circumstances include:
- Dangerous weather
- Airport strikes
- Civil unrest

- Air traffic control restrictions
