When Blue Islands can escape liability: Blue Islands claims if a flight was cancelled due to events outside of its control; for example bad weather, or issues at the airport. Blue Islands Flight Refund policy
A flight compensation and a refund are two different things. Regulations allow you to receive both: a cancellation refund and compensation.
In case of a cancellation, an airline will try to re-book you on the similar flight, but if that becomes impossible, a cancellation refund will be a full cash refund. Generally, your claim would succeed, providing there were no extraordinary circumstances beyond airline control.
If Blue Islands cancels your flight to extraordinary circumstances (such as Covid travel restrictions or a serious illness) and you were offered no replacement flight, you can obtain a ticket refund in full, since your flights booked were not available.
Types of ticket refunds: A full refund must be in cash or credit. Vouchers are allowed only if you specifically agree to it. We do not recommend accepting vouchers due to short expiry dates and potential restrictions on redemption.

Blue Islands Flight Delay Compensation

My flight was cancelled whilst sitting in the boarding area. I queued with all the other passengers and informed that I would be booked on the Bristol flight the following day but I had to book the Jury Inn Exeter that night and claim from Blue Island which I did. When the queue had gone down I went back up to the desk as I hadn't received confirmation of my new flight and I was informed they had missed me and that flight had now been filled and I would have to wait a further day as all flights had been filled. The attendants managed to get me on an alternative flight to Guernsey that night. I had to book another flight from Guernsey to Jersey the following day which was delayed due to fog (I had to take the morning off as holiday) and stay in a hotel in Guernsey overnight (plus two taxis). In total I paid for two hotels and an extra flight to return back to Jersey the day after I was due to arrive.
